  1. Thanks for that contract Stacey...that was exactly what I was looking for!!! And disregard my last post asking who got fired...apparently it was Daniella
  2. Stacey, keep in mind everyone cant be pleased. This review seems a wee bit EXTREME...however, is another opinion that everyone should keep in mind. I did see some more recent reviews (without a wedding involved) that were just remarkable. Dont get too overwhelmed with this review...its just food for thought. Just keep your expectations reasonable, and do the best you cant to stay in contact with your WC, and everything will work out perfectly. But if anyone does know anything about which WC was terminated, please let us know.
  3. BTW...this is the reason I would love to see a Dreams Wedding contract if anyone is willing to post one!!!
  4. OK everyone, get this. I was just on tripadvisor.com reading different reviews of Dreams Cancun. The most recent review in which a wedding was performed (June 200 stated that the manager informed the bride and groom that the WC was TERMINATED!!!! They didnt list specifics and no names were mentioned in the review. Maybe this is the reason that no one had been receiving emails back from the Dreams WC's. Below I have included the review posted on tripadvisor.com. If anyone can shed some light on this, I would really appreciate it!! Let me start by saying I have been to Rivera Mya & Cancun 4 times in the last year. I have stayed some of the better all inclusive resorts and some of the cheaper ones as well. I am not a complainer as I know the conditions in Mexico are some what less then the USA but you go for the beaches. We have always enjoyed our time until we stayed at the Dreams Cancun. We personally like River Mya better then Cancun but we where getting married and we wanted people to be able to walk or take the bus locally for a good mix. so We decided on Cancun. We toured about 60 resorts in Cancun to choose nice wedding site. The Dreams Cancun has great site where se-rounds the wedding area. We meet with the wedding coordinator over a year prior to the wedding in person at the resort. We did not stay their but we had been given a tour. The Dreams is much more expensive as a resort then most but we liked the site and said how bad can it be. BIG MISTAKE! We spoke BY email every few weeks picking out the wedding package (ULTIMATE PACKAGE) and specifics over about 8 months. When it came time to send her the deposit she would not return emails. I called the hotel left messages with her voice mail as well as the Dreams management. Finally it was 5 weeks prior to the wedding and I demanded the front desk connect me with her or I will keeping calling. She took my call sent me the contract and I paid the deposit. We asked several questions after and she did not respond to emails again. WEDDING We arrived in resort 6/21/08 and are guest would start arriving on 6/22 21 people. We checked in and asked to speak with the wedding coordinator. They proceed to tell us she had been terminated. So we asked to speak to her replacement and they informed us she would not bee in until 1 1/2 days latter. Keep in mind their is a large amount of legal requirements that need attention for legal wedding. We asked about the free room upgrade to the Honeymoon sweet which is part of the wedding package we selected. They informed us it would be available for us the next day. The next day the Desk manager lies directly to our face and said it is not available. After the previous night the desk clerk showed us on the computer screen 2 suites would be available. On Monday 6/23/08 the coordinator contacted us and we meet with her. She could not locate our paper work for another day so we had to wait. Once she located the paper work she started to charge us more then the contract for items we had already purchased. We had no choice but except as the wedding day was approaching. The coordinator and the hotel workers vary inexperienced. The day of the wedding 6/26/08 we had no direction or coordination we took all the initiative and responsibility on so we could actual have a wedding. We have the wedding and the site is Beautiful but we paid extra for extra decorations in the amount of $400 USD. As we approached only 1/3 of what we paid for was done. I asked the coordinator and all she would keep saying is "Pretty though Isn't it". I told her but we paid for 2/3 that was not done and she would not acknowledge this. Finally I told her I was extremely upset and she admitted they had forgotten to complete the decoration. She also informed me they would not refund me the money. On 6/27/08 We go deep sea fishing to return to the coordinator extorting more money. She tells us they "forgot to charge us for somethings" with no specifics of $860 USD. I told I am not paying any more and her answer was then we would not get our marriage license. I had no choice but to pay. THE HOTEL ITSELF Terrible old built in the early 1970's and it looks it! Rust and mold on the resort and rooms. Broken equipment and literally the locks falling of our on the floor. Slimy stinky Logan beach. The poor Dolphins their tank water was like a swamp not sea water. Vary little to do ate nigh. The pool was vary small & vary crowded & dirty water. Drinks have vary little alcohol and if you ask for particular alcohol they charge absorbent amount of money. Buffet horrible vary little food and what was their was empty, old, & cold. Specialty restaurants where except-able. Stay away from the Oceana restaurant. We spoke with the manger upon arrival to the resort on who to have seating for 21 guests. he said go at 6pm when they open or after 9pm when it is slower. So went to the Oceana at 5:55pm and only 2 tables where occupied. They did not want to seat us they said they did not have room. We said the restaurant is nearly empty. The manger of the restaurant replied sorry that is our policy. He then proceeds to explain if we but 3 bottles of wine for $150.00 he could bend the rule. WE THOUGHT WE WHERE IN A ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT! We had no choice but to pay. Beaches are horrible and some one actually died on one of the hotel scuba trips! All in all the was a horrible place with horrible accommodations. The resort was more like a Mexican drug lord extorting money. It was a good thing everyone had brought several thousand dollars each because we need it. I guess so much for this resort being a all inclusive. WARNING STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE!!!

Welcome to the forum! Best of luck to you and happy planning. You will find this site is extremely addicting!! Hahaha.
  10. ...and if he says "I wouldn't charge you a dime."? Its kind of a wierd situation to be in...probably even more wierd for him.
  11. Thats true about the editing. He is very particular about everything. What would you suggest for a dollar amount to give him as a gift...assuming he chooses to be the photographer and not part of the wedding party?

    Hi

Welcome, congrats, and happy planning! You'll get a ton of information from all these brides to be!!!
  13. Welcome and happy planning!!!
  14. My only problem is that he is the pnly photographer I trust. I have seen his work and been there with him while he worked and he does an amazing job. I am guessing he will do it free of charge too. On the other hand, we want him to be in the wedding. I guess I could just have him choose which he would rather do.
  15. We are planning an "Open House" for when we return. We are planning to have it at my parents house. We have a big family, so we figure that my parents can grill out some burgers/dogs/brats/etc. A few people can bring a dish to pass like pasta salad, chips, relish tray, etc. And pretty much the only thing we would have to bring would be the keg of beer for all the drunks. Hahaha. It is actually a really cheap way to do it. While you are on vacation, take some pictures of you and your hubby. When you get back, just get some cheap photo frames from Walmart and put those pictures together, put them on a bit table, and it gives the guests something to look at when they want to. This is really a fun and cheap way to have all the people you want (gifts from hahah lol)
  16. I had the same problem with the username and password. If anyone knows how to get around this, please please please let us know!!
  17. Would anyone on here be willing to post a sample copy of their contract (or tentative contract.) That would really give all the DC brides and grooms an idea of how to better plan. Thanks!!
  18. Based on everything I have seen on Moon Palaces website, and some reviews I have read, as well as some of the things I have heard personally about weddings there, both Moon and Dreams are very comparable. It seems like Moon is a little more expensive, but if your budget isn't a HUGE issue, I would definitely check them out. They almost appear more luxurious as opposed to Dreams who is more service oriented. A friend of mine had their wedding there and they loved it!!
  19. Hey All, If I am having a professional photographer in the wedding party (who of course cant go 30 seconds without taking a picture otherwise he will have a stroke,) should I still hire a separate photographer? What do you think?
  20. Based on everything I have heard, just about everything is negotiable...so if you dont use their centerpieces, Im just wondering if they will apply whatever money they would have charged for the centerpieces toward something else a la carte. Then again, they are only centerpieces and I prolly wouldnt get much for them.

Hey Melissa, Based on everything I have heard on here, they are in fact really slow at getting back to people...at least via email. I know it would be an additional cost, but I bet if you called down there, you would get all the answers you want. Welcome to the forum!!!
  23. .....make sure you ask for a ton of money from them Hahaha. They have a ton of money to hand out so maybe they can pay for the wedding and then some. hahaha
  24. Congratulations and Welcome. You will find everyone here is so helpful and you will get a ton of ideas from this site!!
