Wanted: Paper Laterns~Battery Operated
jennyatk replied to rachelannmartin's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
I really like the laterns. Could you let me know where you got them? I have been looking for some. Thanks!!! Quote: Originally Posted by pryzeless I have 10 x 8 inch ones for sale for $12. PM if interested. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t32244 -
aww that does suck. My FI and I decided we need to make sure we get down there a day before all of our guests arrive. We don't have many. With him and I were about 19. I was trying to decide if I should email ahead and find out the odds of us getting upgrades or just take my chances when we get down there? I guess if they know your wanting to upgrade maybe they figure they will get more money out of the situation. If you wait they might offer it at less?? Hoping to make a little extra money even at 50% off. I don't know? I guess Maybe I will just wait and take my chances Quote: Originally Posted by sgbrown So I sent an email on December 2nd to Raul, trying to negotiate a 50% discount on room upgrades for my 50+ person group (I know that this is the discount SunBride was offered). Personalized Plastic Mugs???
jennyatk replied to jennyatk's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
The mugs seem great and the fact she can do an order of 50 is ever better. I was going to do a hundred if I had to and use them for the reception we are having back home after the wedding but this is working out much better!! Thanks again for that post of the website. Ebay was going to be my last resort but it seems to be the best option! -

I really hope Landy is as organized as you say! I am getting married in May 27 09 I have a TA who has been great with getting all the paperwork and everything together but! As I was on here reading as everyone else I got a bit worried about the deposit because I thought my day was locked in stone but I never paid and we booked back in June. So am I booked under the old or new?? Because now that I have brought it up she wants a deposit. So I sent my TA an email telling her my concern about me being confirmed and this deposit thing. Also in the guide it states you and your witness must be there four business days before the wedding well we will only be there 3 and Landy has written emails saying this is ok but when Landy recently responded she wrote something else in the email!! Completely different from what I have been told and reassured of. Everything has been soo inconsistent and it has me a bit worried and I'm a pretty laid back person! I know they say a lot of things and end up doing something different from what I have read on other posts but wow a little consistancy would be nice!

I agree! So what photographer did you decide to go with? I am getting at dreams tulum on May 27 so Im sure I will get to see your wedding on the beach one of those days. I wasn't going with their resort photographer either it just didnt feel right! ok well good luck

Well I did it! The deposit is done and I feel so much better! I really don't think I would have been happy going with my second choice. My FI and I talked today and hes not worried about the money! Hes like we can easily make it work and we will have these the rest of our lives! So were on board so I guess I better get looking for my dress Well after our short little vacation to Jamaica maybe then I will start. thank everyone for helping me to decide it was the right thing for us to do!! I knew deep down I just needed all these great reminders! thanks so much!!

Well I will be booking tomorrow!! Well at least the deposit! I am excited and your right about them being important. My FI agrees but he knows this is what really would make me happy! I can afford it but wow its a lot of money and I am about as tight as they come! I count every dollar down to every penny! but this will be one part of the planning that is done! I don't even really have a budget I just want to make it as cheap as I can and still have a wonderful time. Thank you to all that have posted! I think its good to hear why others chose a great photographer. I hate having my pic taken! Not sure why I just hate fake smiles! lol So I hope with a great photographer they can bring out the real smile in me!!! smile159:

Thanks for your response! I just got back from taking my FI dinner at work and we talked about this and I think your right why not!!?? I have a lot of family that can't make it to my wedding in Tulum and what better way to make them feel as if they were there then to have some awsome pics!! I just hope they are as great as I think they will be! Again thanks with all the wedding stuff the simple things pile up! Though simple and 2k well thats a lot of money even for one simple decision!! lol Any ideas about pics would be great I am going to take the weekend to think about it!

Well I just can't seem to make up my mind and need some help! I have read everything about why each and everyone of you chose your photographer. I just can't seem to make up my mind and my FI just wants me to be happy so hes not much help so I am turning to all of you. A little background on the money going out for the wedding. I have about 20 guests traveling to Dreams Tulum. I have booked my FI wedding/honeymoon about 5k with that. I am also paying for my parents to be down there thats another 2500. Plus the wedding package 2500 and I hope thats it so the pics need to fall in somewhere? Do I use the ok resort guy or go with Sol Tamargo & Matt Adcock's associate Deigo for 2000? The other photographers run pretty close to that around 800 to 1500. So do I choose what I love and just work about 20 more extra shifts to make it happen and just be happy about it? I love the photos but will it really matter in 10 years? I don't know I think I would really love to have great pics but I am also paying for all of this myself and I have the reception back home to put together yet? So Ladies PLEASE help me out. What would you do? How did you decide? Thank you!!!

hello well I just wanted to drop you a quick line. I have been to Punta Cana twice. The frist time it was at the Grand Oasis and it was nice. I dont know about wedding nice but great for a vacation. The second time my FI and I stayed at Barcelo Dominican Beach resort. ohhh it was awful! I am all about budget and this was a cheaper vacation for us but oh it was really bad. From the rooms to the front desk staff. My FI even posted a review on tripadvisor if your interested. Most of the complaints on that site was comparable to what we went through. Any questions let me know.

Hello ladies, I have been meaning to suggest applevacations to those who haven't booked yet. My FI and I usually use them for other vacations so we found a TA that had apple and did DW. We are getting married May 27 2009 at dreams and our total package with air and all transfers for the basic rooms per couple are 3116.00 That is for 7 nights and 8 days. Apple is great because our entire family will be flying a charter down together. They will be getting their own transportion to the resort with no stops in between. A handful of my guest will be flying back after 5 days but will also be on a charter and all these will be direct flights to Cancun and back to Ohio. Just thought I would put that out there! Happy Planning..... oh and the prices for the 5 night people were 1,126.00 per person.

I was just wondering if anyone could donate me some points? Or just send me a private message? Like many others I don't have enough points to look at all the good stuff on here!! I would love it if one of you could help a girl out!! I really would like to see the package prices for 2009 and the flower choices. I am trying to decide if I want the free wedding and just pay for the extra things I want or go ahead and just book an upgraded package! Thanks for all of your help.

48hours or 4 days
jennyatk replied to jennyatk's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
My FI and I went to the Statehouse today and got our documents completed. We just had to do our birth certificate. That cost us 10 dollars. We also had to make color copies of our passports which was about 2 dollars. The bloodtest we were told was 150 dollars for the both of us. I think you are also suppose to tip the judge 50 dollars. So far not so bad. We booked our wedding today so our offical date will be May 27 2009 at Dream Tulum. Awww finally feels good to have a date! -
48hours or 4 days
jennyatk replied to jennyatk's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Well everything is moving along! We talked with a travel agent that just did a destination wedding at Tulum! They only have 3 days left in May for weddings!! So that kinda picked out our wedding day but thats ok. Its finally nice to have a day picked. Considering were getting married on the 26 and that will be our 4 day including the arrival day. I was wondering if we just got married at the court house and then did a renewal down there if its less hassel with the paperwork and the blood tests and if you could get out of the 4 day thing? If not its not a big deal things are finally starting to move along!! -

I was wondering but this really puts a bit of a issue with some of my guests! Also it has to be business days so my FI might stay 2 weeks so we get a real honeymoon instead of just coming straight back!? I hope I am relaxed all those days were there. or maybe will will just do the courthouse thing and then do the religious down there. That really sounds much eaiser! Thank you for your replies! -
I just got back from speaking with a new travel agent, my FI and I decided on Dreams Tulum!!! While we were talking with the TA he said that we needed to be in country 4 buisness days prior to the wedding but another TA said we only had to be there 48 hours! This is causing scheduling issues and some stress. Does anyone know exactly how long we need to be in Mexico before we get married? I need to figure this out quickly becuse Dreams is booking up fast!

Everyone thanks for responding. I totally agree with the tripadvisor part. I do try and just look at the pictures but i end up wondering what the bad reviews were all about. Sometimes pictures can say a thousand words! I told my FI that we are going to sit down together and decide whats really most important and go from that. I am up for for more suggestions!! I might go and see another TA on Sat. I was just so frustrated with the last one and her lack of knowledge on weddings. I just want the picking part to be over! lol oh well off to keep looking. oh one last thing have any of you heard of Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya? I really liked this resort but wedding info was pretty limited. thanks again!!

Well let me start by saying this forum is great and I love reading everyones ideas and thoughts. So I am asking for everyones suggestions in helping me find a resort. I have been to a travel agent and well... not much help. I have browsed and browsed and when I think I have a place narrowed down I read a couple reviews on tripadvisor and once again I am back to square one. I started out wanting to be a Moon Palace bride. Then I really liked the Dreams Cancun. Then I thought these places were going to be to busy. I looked at some pictures of both and the beach at moon palace looked a bit rocky and way to much seaweed. I love the beach so thats why the beach there is such a concern. Then I found something with dreams that turned me off. I have looked at probably every resort!! The biggest problem is I am paying for my parents to fly down there and stay so I am trying to keep the cost down with out putting them at a different resort. My family is very important to me and my parents have had some really rough times and I want to do this for them. I just really want to find a wonderful place that wont kill my bank account!! Please any kind of suggestions would be great!

Well my TA today was a total bust! I think I knew more about getting married in cancun then she did. I left there on pretty much exhausted and almost back to square one. She didn't want anything to do with the wedding other then booking the packages! Which for moon palace deluxe was a little over 2000 dollars per person for 7 nights and we priced some for 4 nights as well. I am kinda hoping I can find a better deal and a TA that would be a bit more involved!! So tonight I am on a search for local travel agents and crunching some numbers. Does anyone know if it is cheaper to block out some rooms with the resort and then book a charter with the TA? I got my FI and briadsmaids working on finding us a great deal!! lol any suggestions would be great!
