I am a founding member of Sisters Against Ovarian Cancer and we had a fundraiser on May 31st and are having a walk on September 6th. This is our first year and we have almost 150 walkers already.
One of the things we're going to do is to have some wine tastings at one of our houses and charging maybe $20 to get in. Another thing we may do next year is a calendar with prizes everyday for a month. You can get local restaurants, gyms, theatres, etc. to donate gift certificates or baskets. It is easier than you think. We even got a timeshare in Florida donated for a week, Eagles tickets, limosine service, grocery stores gave us gift cards. We also had a large screen t.v. donated and sold only 100 tickets for $20 a piece. Even if you had to buy the t.v. you could get a good one for under $1,00 and make $1,000 right off the bat. We raised $16,000 in one night. We expect to raise more than $30,000 for our walk.
Sorry, I didn't mean to go on and on about my charity but it's very close to my heart. My best friend has III stage ovarian cancer and we're raising the money for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston where she gets her treatment.
Good luck with yours! CURE CANCER!
