I am thinking of a meet in greet in the lobby bar the Thur or Friday b4 the wedding and i think a group outing or activity I think would really help people get to know one antoher. Also for the gift/welcome bags....so far my ideas are suntan lotion, bug spray, neosporin, fans, flip flops (mayb)...any other suggestions. When I get enough points I will post decoration options...Yamina emailed me a ton. Hey there! Hope you are well. This thread has been pretty dead lately. Congrats on getting your invitations! Group Activity: I chartered a private catarmaran through cancun catamarans for a snorkeling booze cruise. We are doing that the afternoon before the wedding in lieu of a traditional rehearsal dinner. Gift Bags: I am putting the following items in my bags - Personalized Beach Towel in wedding colors, Tide To Go stick, Aloe sunburn relief, "Wake Up Call" hangover relief pills, a bag of mini chocolate shells and I am making a welcome book to also put into the bag. DJ: I saw your question to Lauren so I figured I'd put in my .02..... I hired my DJ to play music a half hour before the ceremony, provide a sound system for the ceremony, I am using the mariachi band at the cocktail hour so during this time the DJ will move his set up from the beach to the Spice Terrace and then I have the DJ forth reception.
  5. Did anyone who has already gotten married use the mariachi band at cocktail hour? I am torn between mariachi and just getting the DJ to do everything (ceremony, cocktail hour, reception). Thoughts?

Also, it that's the case do they have any rules against me bringing in an outside vendor for an hour or so? Any info is appreciated!! Yes, Excellence Playa Mujeres has it's own photographer. If you are interested in getting pricing scroll through this thread - I posted the information. If you would like to bring in an outside vendor for your session, the charge is $100.00. Good luck!
  8. Thanks ladies!!!! I am going to keep my dress. I love it so much!!!!! I feel sooooooooo much better now. XOXOXO
  9. I live in Howard Beach! and am also getting married in Cancun......
  10. Hey there. I believe that the wedding packages and options for all Excellence resorts are the same. If you go through this thread, you will be able to find all the information you are looking for! Happy planning!
  11. So, I stalk "Trip Advisor" reading reviews of resorts - especially Excellence Playa Mujeres these days since I am getting married there. A bride who recently tied the knot there earlier this month posted her review and pictures and SHE HAS THE SAME WEDDING DRESS THAT I BOUGHT! Part of me wants a new dress stat and part of me thinks I should stick with my original dress. What would you do if you were me?
  12. I ordered the beach towels today for the OOT bags! They are due to arrive the last week in August. I am excited.

We even let our TA know that with our resort we were looking for one that served great food. Is it a hit or miss thing? We booked the honeymoon suite for 12 nights. I am so excited!
  14. We chartered a catamaran for Friday and our wedding is Saturday. Me, my fiance and my MOH + her date are arriving Tuesday so we can be there ahead of all the guests. We are not featuring any special group rate and let people book with our TA on their own so they could stay as short a time or as long a time as they wanted.. About 1/2 of our guests are arriving Wednesday and the other half on Thursday (We have 40 total). All are leaving on Sunday or Monday with the exception of 6 people who are staying until Tuesday. Kenny and I are staying for 12 nights and will not depart until the following Sunday.
  15. Sept is definitely peak hurricaine season in Cancun. My original date was Sept 19 and we wound up changing it bc of hurricaine season. However, I have also heard about people having great weather in Sept. If your venue has a nice inside spot as a backup then go for it. One thing in life you can.t predict is the weather. If you are the type of person who is laid back and can role with the punches than I wouldn.t sweat your date but if you are like me whp gets flustered and wound up easily then I would rethink either your date or your location. As far as getting married on a holiday weekend.. it may not be the most considerate choice since many people like to plan their own special getaways. Also travel prices are usually much higher. However, if you know your guests would appreciate the extra paid day to go to your wedding then that would be a good choice. Good luck deciding! Remember, your wedding will be great no matter where or when, rain or shine - it's your day!

The truth is, aside from collecting pictures, color swatches and ideas, there is not much you can do after you pick out your package and menu from EPM now.....almost everything gets finalized upon your arrival...which is why you should make sure you get these a few days beforehand even if you aren't having a "legal" ceremony. Anyhoo...I'm pretty bummed that I haven't been able to get my picture of me and Alex to load properly.... I leave for Mexico this Sunday---SO EXCITED!!!! If someone will teach me how to attach files to comments, I'll post pics everyday of the resort -- I know I loved seeing everyone else's pictures when they came back...it was like Christmas every time!!! Katrese, I'll check before I go and see if you have posted your email address and Ill send all my stuff on over before I go... Wish me luck girls! Good luck! You must be so excited! Yippeee for you! Have the best time and promise to telll us everything upon your return!
