  1. Have a great time! I live in Queens (just outside NYC). The weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend!

In particular try any of these brands: Herradura and Don Julio. Stay away from any of the cheap, sugared brands like Cuervo that you might find on the lower shelves of any U.S. store. Here is a quick and dirty article on Tequila. And lastly the cure for a tequila hangover... time! I realize everyone likes different things but I have to disagree with your "run away" comment pertaining to white (blanco) tequila. Both my fiance and I are tequila drinkers and have been for many years. White tequila is the purest, cleanest form of tequila. It is not aged in oak the way reposado and anejo are. We almost always choose blanco over all others. el corozon and el tesoro are my favorites. My advice when looking for tequila would be make sure it is made out of 100% blue agave (rather than a mix of blue and green) and is made in jalisco, mexico. green is what they make mezcal out of. Mezcal is an entirely different thing altogether. To make mezcal, rather than roasting the agave hearts like they do for tequila, they char the green agave hearts. Mezcal has a wonderful smokey taste to it. I actually really like it - I do not eat the worms though. The worm is put into the mezcal as a symbol. The worm represents the symbiotic relationship between itself and the agave plants. Despite the old wives tale, it does not give you hallucinations. Another tidbit of trivia on tequila -tequila is the only alcohol that is a stimulant. Here is some information I got off the net that goes more in depth about the types of tequila. I have never considered "reserved" a type and I have learned about another type that is not listed on this literature - joven (mix of blanco and anejo). TYPES OF TEQUILAS Tequila can only be produced in Mexico, in the Tequila Region, and must comply with strict Mexican government regulations. In order to satisfy an ever-growing demand and a multitude of consumer's preferences and tastes, tequila is produced in two general categories and four different types in three of those categories. The two categories are defined by the percentage of juices coming from the blue agave: Tequila 100% Agave. Must be made with 100% blue agave juices and must be bottled at the distillery in Mexico. It may be Blanco, Reposado, or Añejo. Tequila. Must be made with at least 51% blue agave juices. This tequila may be exported in bulk to be bottled in other countries following the NOM standard. It may be Blanco, Gold, Reposado, or Añejo The NOM standard defines four types of tequila: Blanco or Silver This is the traditional tequila that started it all. Clear and transparent, fresh from the still tequila is called Blanco (white or silver) and must be bottled immediately after the distillation process. It has the true bouquet and flavor of the blue agave. It is usually strong and is traditionally enjoyed in a "caballito" (2 oz small glass). Oro or Gold Is tequila Blanco mellowed by the addition of colorants and flavorings, caramel being the most common. It is the tequila of choice for frozen Margaritas. Reposado or Rested It is Blanco that has been kept (or rested) in white oak casks or vats called "pipones" for more than two months and up to one year. The oak barrels give Reposado a mellowed taste, pleasing bouquet, and its pale color. Reposado keeps the blue agave taste and is gentler to the palate. These tequilas have experienced exponential demand and high prices. Añejo or Aged It is Blanco tequila aged in white oak casks for more than a year. Maximum capacity of the casks should not exceed 600 liters (159 gallons). The amber color and woody flavor are picked up from the oak, and the oxidation that takes place through the porous wood develops the unique bouquet and taste. Reserva Although not a category in itself, it is a special Añejo that certain distillers keep in oak casks for up to 8 years. Reserva enters the big leagues of liquor both in taste and in price.
  3. I don't think it's rude at all. I am not meaning to offend anyone with my next statement, but in my opinion any event where adults will be drinking heavily and partying is not usually an appropriate place for children. There is a reason children aren't allowed in night clubs. I understand that an family party should not necessarily be compared to a night club so hopefully you guys got the gist of my point without thinking I am totally nuts
  4. That can't be right ladies. If you did the calculation right and you still only get 500 calories, you should implement exercise (cardio) into your weight loss program so you can eat more. If you would like me to help you out, send me a PM or email. BMR Calculator This calculator does not provide for exercise, but it'll give you an idea about whether or not you are close. I put in my information (5'6", 137 pounds, 34 years) and got 1,400 calories per day. 1,400 * 7 = 9,800 calories per week. 9,800 - 3,500 (to lose 1 pound per week) = 6,300 calories. 6,300 / 7 = 900 calories. This is about right since I eat about 1,000 calories per day when I am trying to lose weight. This calculation has always worked for me so I wanted to suggest it to you all. I think the hardest part of developing a personal diet and weight loss program is developing a long term healthy program that allows you to lose weight without being miserable and starving yourself. If you can figure out how much you can eat to maintain, you will then be able to figure out how much you can eat and lose. It's not easy, but once you figure it out, dieting will be so much easier for you. Your BMR is a good place to start.
  5. Have great TIME! You'll love this place. (I'm so jealous) heehee

I am hoping to have 45 people going so I am renting an entire catamaran. He is also going to pick us up at the hotel. I have not booked yet because I do not have a final headcount but will in the near future. I'm also going to use them for my transportation to and from the resort.
  7. My pleasure. One thing that really helped me is to bring weight watchers smart ones meals to work every day and drink a ton of water. They are on average about 350 - 450 calories and are just enough food, with the water to help fill you up, to keep you from eating your pen caps by the end of the day =0) Remember - the first 3 days of any diet suck, after that your body gets used to it.
  8. Lots and lots of cardio. Cardio is the only thing that works. Pounds = calories. Since 1 pound = 3,500 calories, in order to loose 1 pound you must deficit your body 3,500 calories than what your body needs to operate (bmr). Calculate your bmr: Weight Loss - BMR - How Many Calories Should I Eat - How to Calculate Caloric Needs - Basal Metabolic Rate Forumla Multiply bmr by 7 for one week's worth of calories then subtract 3,500 calories from that to figure out how many calories you can eat and lose 1 pound per week (or 7,000 to lose 2 pounds per week). It's a pain at first to write down all the calories you eat at first but you get used to it after a couple weeks - especially when you see it works! Also, make sure you save up enough calories for 1 day per week for a cheat day (mine is always Sunday) so you can pig out once in a while and not feel guilty and like all your hard work is ruined. If you can do it .... run, run, run. The pounds will literally fall off. Running is the best cardio ever!

The tortilla soup is the best I've ever had!
  10. Cabo Wabo!!! When we were there in 2006 Sammy Hagar came out and sang with the group performing (they have live music every night). Squid Roe and Cabo Wabo and ZOO are very close to each other. I recommend a little bar crawl =0).

I was wondering where might be good, and how much per person is it about. We chose Dreams Cabo because it was all-inclusive, so I'm not sure if going off the resort for something like this would be in our budget or not. Any other ideas? I have a great suggestion for you. A restaurant called "Panchos". The food is fantastic and the maitre'd offers "tequila school" in which guests are given white, reposado, joven, anejo and mescal to taste. Armondo explains the history of mexican tequila, the differences between all the different types of tequila you are tasting and then will set you up at the bar, if you like, and have the bartender give you more tequila to taste depending on what you like. When my fiance and I went to Cabo in 2006 we went there 3 or 4 times in 10 days. Here is a link to the website: Pancho's Restaurant - House of the Best Mexican Food in Los Cabos, Mexico!.. PM me if you have any questions.
  12. I absolutely love the pink shoes! That's fantastic! The dress is fabulous too! You must be so excited!
  13. Thanks again for the input. Kenny is on board to pick out his outfit based on a my sister's wedding dress which is about the same amount of formal as the ones I've been looking at. I'm sure he'll pick out something good. He mentioned last night that he would like to wear a white suit with a white button down and no tie.
  14. I can not believe that they would not tell you who the designer is. IMO that is very poor customer service! Can you sneak back into the salon and look at the tag when you try it on?
  15. Here are our fur-babies, "Meaty" and "Suki'. I'm sure you can figure out which name goes with which puppa.
  16. I am planning to send my STDs out in October and my invites in March with an RSVP by June 30, 2009. Even though air is not available yet for Dec 2009, I have had 5 people book a hotel room directly through the resort. I don't believe that you can book through Travelocity, Orbitz or Expedia until 6 months out so I think as long as you get something out to your invitees by that time, they'll be able to get good rates. I could be wrong though.
  17. I think you both should go to the wedding if at all possible. You can set up a savings account that will automatically deduct a small amount of money from your paychech each time you get paid. If you never have it in your possession to begin with, you'll never miss it. This is an easy way to save. ING Direct is an on-line back that is FDIC insured and they offer a great interest rate. If you both put in $100 per month ($50 or $25 per checK), you'll have $2,400 in a year which is more than enough for both of you to go to Cancun for a 3 or 4 day weekend to attend your friend's wedding.
  18. I have an appointment at Nicole Miller on 8/23 to try on the Yoke dress. It was the soonest they could take me. However, the dresses I tried on similar to it this past Saturday didn't look good on me (I have a very flat behind). Hopefully, the Nicole Miller will look great though. Then, it'll be even harder to choose! Ladies, I can't thank you enough for all your input. I really appreciate it. Since I love this dress so much, I made a couple appointment at other placed through August to try dresses. If I do not find anything else I'll buy this one that I love.
  19. My wedding is not until December 2009. I made the mistake of going to try on dresses. My main purpose was to find out what type of dress looks good on me so when I really start looking in the late fall/winter, I would know what to look for. I have always had an idea in my head of what type of dress I pictured myself getting married in but more often than not, what I picture in my head does not look good on me. I tried on one dress yesterday and LOVED it. I felt like I looked amazing in it. However, if I buy this one now, so early, will I love it a year from now? What if I find something better next winter? On the other hand, what if I don't find anything better and by the time winter comes around, they aren't making this dress anymore? HELP!!!!!!
  20. Thanks ladies. I so much feel better. I'll just tell him that his attire needs to be more formal than originally discussed because the dresses that I have been liking have been more formal than what I thought I would like. It's not that I don't trust him to pick out something nice, it's that I don't want him to pick out something that doesn't "fit" with the dress I get. If I could show him the dress beforehand I would have no issues. Unfortunately, this is not possible =0)

  22. My fiance is a good dresser and I don't think he will pick something silly. However, here is my question - how can he possibly pick out an appropriate outfit if he does not know what I am going to wear? He is refusing to let me pick out what he'll wear and I have no idea how to handle this. I guess I have a year and a half to warm him up to the idea that I should pick but i am wondering if any of you have had a similar situation and how you handled it. Thanks in advance.
