  1. I broke one of the prongs on my ring a month after I got it! It happens. At least you got all the pieces and can get it fixed!
  2. Hi there! This message board is so much fun! It'll walk you through the entire process!
  3. I am in the process of making my STDs right now. I am planning on having limited resort information on them but am putting the we address on them.
  4. I am in agreement with everyone else on this topic. Going in debt to buy a ring is irresponsible and demanding an expensive ring is even worse. Paul McCartney spent 18K on the engagement ring he purchased for his now ex-wife and he is a "sir". People should purchase what they can comfortably afford and buy a ring that the woman can wear everyday. Whether that is $18,000 or $300 depends on the individual.
  5. My heart goes out to all those affected by Gustav tonight.
  6. I used to lift heavy with my trainer. I was squatting 200 pounds and my behind never looked better! I never got big no matter how heavy I lifted. Most women do not have enough muscle mass to ever get very big. I would love to be able to lift heavier weights now, I would see much better results in less time but, unfortunately, I do not have anyone to spot me =0(.
  7. Hi Ladies, If anyone is in the NYC area and searching for a dress, I highly recommend making an appointment with Andrea at "Wedding Atelier" on 5th between 17th & 18th (Shop designer wedding gowns, bridal veils, wedding shoes, and bridal accessories at Wedding Atelier's New York bridal shop.). The store is fabulous, the salespeople are so nice, they have beautiful dresses, I could go on an on. Since this is the first time I have purchased a wedding dress, I do not know if this is customary, but I received a thank you note from Andrea at the boutique after purchasing my dress.....
  8. I LOVE Facebook. I was on My Space at first but now I enjoy Facebook a lot more. I have found a bunch of my sorority sisters there and we have all reunited which is great! I actually have happy hour with them next week.
  9. I just checked the weather in Ocho Rios and it says cloudy and only a 30% chance of rain! Considering the alternative, I'd say things worked out! yay!
  10. Quote: Originally Posted by jjurick I have the same question! I don't understand how the reception dinner works if it is an all-inclusive package. If you could please offer some advice, I'd really appreciate it. I can only answer this for the resort at which I have booked (Excellence Playa Mujeres). The food is a very small part of the wedding packages. The resorts knows how much (on average) it costs to feed each guest dinner. For the reception - you get a cocktail hour with hors doerves, 4 course meal, instead of 3, with an upgraded menu to what is offered in the restaurants, and a wedding cake. The resort calculates the cost of the upgraded dinner subtracts the average cost to feed each guest and arrives at a cost per person that they need to add into the wedding package for the reception dinner. For $2,400 this is a pretty good deal - you'd pay a lot more if you hired these services individually! Services of the Judge (legal) or Minister (non-legal) Wedding organization and personalization of our wedding coordinator Preferential location of the room in the category reserved Preparation and ironing of the wedding dress and grooms tuxedo/suit Complimentary suite for the groom the night before the wedding (based on availability) Use of the wedding gazebo or beach location Upgraded Bride’s bouquet 4 boutonnieres/corsages for bride, groom and witnesses Wedding cake for 20 people One bottle of sparkling wine Special turn down service 15% discount on all spa treatments (product purchases not included) Honeymoon Package Late checkout for bride and groom (based on availability) Special Gold Wedding Dinner for 20 people Natural floral centerpiece for dinner table One hour of upgraded cocktails with hors d’oeuvres for 20 people 24 full color 6x8 photos (upgraded from 5x7) Bride’s hairstyling for ceremony Make-up application for the bride Additional decoration for the ceremony Natural floral table bouquet for ceremony Caribbean or Mariachi Music Trio (1 hour) Video of the ceremony (15 minutes, unedited) One Love Birds Spa Treatment for the couple Selling price: $2.400 USD ($120 per person) For additional people, they charge $45 each which is 40% of the per head cost of the package. I doubt the food costs that much - I think they just try and recoup some of their costs - they can't be making money off these packages.
  11. I went to 3 bridal shops and took my Aunt and FMIL with me 2 of the three times. We made an afternoon out of each outing and went to lunch for a girls day out. It was super fun. I only went to salons that had websites so I could get an idea about what the salon was like before booking my appointment. I also sent each place a list of dresses that I wanted to try on so they could be pulled out for me beforehand.
  12. The wedding package ($2,400 for the highest grade package offered at Excellence) includes a lot more than just food - it includes the wedding coordinator, music, flowers, decorations, minister, photography, video, haur and make up for bride, etc. The dinner included in the package is definitely an upgrade from what they serve in the restaurants, plus there are more courses, including a wedding cake and a cocktail hour with hors'doerves (sp?). I think the package deals offered at Excellence give you a lot for your money.
  13. Sounds like your doc needs to put the koo-koo back in the clock!!!!!

  15. Congratulations. I'm sure your "wedding" pictures from Cabo was be sensational!
  16. Hi there! Congratulations!
  17. You look fantastic! That dress is phenomenal! Your FI is going to be EXCITED when he sees you!
  18. This is anticipating all 45 people being invited come. I think, realistically, we'll have about 25 people. Travel and flights (honeymoon included - 11 night stay) = $8,300 Dress (including alterations) = $1,250 Catamaran Cruise - charter = $2,000 Rings = $2,000 Ceremony & reception = $3,350 DJ = $800 STD = $250 Invitations = $500 Website = $100 Groom attire = $750 OOT bags = $2,250 Photographer = $1,800 TOTAL = $23,800 Our budget was $25,000 so I know we're going to go a little over (or a lot) =0(
  19. The Aug/Sep issue of "Modern Bride" has them in their "100 favorite things article" from "www.givefavors.com" $22.00 for 12 tea lights. They're really cute. If you want the article, PM me. I can scan it and email it to you.
