  1. I am going to Riu MoBay for my one-year anniversary from 9/2-9/9. I am constantly looking online for updates. I haven't seen anything lately. My mother-in-law recently travelled to Jamaica ( about 1 week ago). She said that Riu in MoBay is finished. Unfortunately, she did not take any pictures of the site. LOL, I specifically asked if the purple hotel/resort near the airport is finished. She said yes. I am hoping that finished means the removal of the fourth floor and any additional cosmetic work. If they do not finish the hotel on time. Then, they will either send us to Riu Ocho Rios or Negril. There are two hotels in Negril; Tropical Bay Classic Hotel and Negril Club Hotel. Please be advised that Riun Negril Club Hotel is much nicer than Riu Tropical Bay Classic Hotel. Hopefully, they will put us there. We spent our honeymoon at Riu Ocho Rios. This was also an amazing resort; great food, great services, wonderful staff, and everything else that you may want. If we end up staying that resort and our stay is not satisfactory, they will offer a few days free voucher to use within a year at any other Riu.
  2. Hey, I'm from Brockton, Massachusetts (originally from Boston). I was married at Hibiscus Lodge Hotel in Ocho Rios on August 27, 2007. Here's the link to my wedding slide show; Binjour-Lee Wedding: 8-25-07--Ocho Rios, Jamaica by jeannette.binjour. Fyi, I had between 150-175 guests at my wedding.
  3. Originally, I tried Jewell Marsh. Her prices were abstract. When I finally received exact pricing from her. They were unreasonable. So, I did some more research and found Michelle Levene-Phillips at Wedding Planners Plus. I asked her for references. She provided me with their emails and phone numbers. Here's her website; Wedding Planner Plus - Home page. She also provides a pretty detailed pricing on her website. Plus, you can contact her via email at [email protected]. She also has a US land line for her US brides to call. In my opinion, she was very easy to contact and work with. I sent her numerous jpegs, spreadsheets, and etc. She was able to interpret them and then made them concrete. I also included my wedding slide for you to view. She not only works with Hibiscus Lodge Hotel. She works with all the hotels/resorts in the Ocho Rios area. She also has connections with all the vendors in the area. So, she was able to work my budget. Fyi, I had between 150-175 guests at my wedding. Good Luck!!
  4. I've included a link to my wedding photo at Hibiscus Lodge Hotel. Here's the link to our pictures: Binjour-Lee Wedding: 8-25-07--Ocho Rios, Jamaica by jeannette.binjour. We were married on August 27, 2007. The wedding planner provided the photographer. It was part of my wedding package. She did an amazing job.
  5. I was married in Ocho Rios last August 27, 2008. We got married at the Hibiscus Lodge Resort also located in Ocho Rios. I've included my slide show to the post. Here's the link; Binjour-Lee Wedding: 8-25-07--Ocho Rios, Jamaica by jeannette.binjour. We spent our honeymoon at Riu Ocho for one week. Actually, we spent a week prior to the wedding at Rooms on the Beach in Ocho Rios with our guests. Then, we moved to Riu for the honeymoon. If you have any questions about planning a destination wedding in Jamaica, please let me know. I also used an amazing wedding planner to assist me with my planning in Ocho Rios. My mother and husband are from Jamaica. So, I have tons of experience on the island as a local and tourist. If you want an honest opinion about certain locations, I am here to help out. I am going back to Jamaica for my Anniversary. Actually, we planned to go to the Dominican Republic at Riu Bachata. We partially paid for our trip. Then, we noticed that airfare was so expensive from Boston to Puerto Plata. We decided to go to Jamaica again. We plan to stay that Riu Montego Bay. I've heard that construction is somewhat incomplete. There is a possibility that they may send us to either Ocho Rios or Negril. I am totally fine with either choice. We are going their from 9/2-9/9. I always love going home. Hello to everyone!!!
