  1. Hey all you lovely ladies...I'm looking for some hair inspiration pics...preferably those of us cuvacious ladies...I have no idea how I want to do my hair. I want it to be up, but I'm afraid of having something too tight because it will make my face look very, very round. This is what my MOH updo looked like when the stylist was doing it. I didn't like it, but since we were running behind I didn't say anything. As you can see, it really makes my face look very round. I don't want anything this tight. Also, my hair is very thin and about shoulder length, so it's really hard to have an updo. Also, has anyone purchased human hair extensions? I'm thinking of getting them, but I'm wondering if it would be worth it?
  2. Beautiful pics!!! Were your flowers artificial or were they provided by the resort?
  3. You will need a converter unless your appliance is dual volatage. If you have time, you might want to pick up a cordless curling iron. If the barrel is big enough, you can use it as a straightener too.
  4. Great tips! I have about 5 weeks to go but I still feel unprepared. I don't like the fact that I have to wait till I get there to arrange things, but it seems it has all worked for past brides. I just have this feeling that I'm missing something...
  5. How much was the videoographer? Also, do you know if you can make substituitons with the wedding dinners? We have some people who are dealthy allergic to shellfish coming (I'm a little concerned about the "surf n' turf" meal), some people who don't eat pork for religious reaons and me (I'm actually allergic to pork). Can you make changes to the meals?
  6. Just a tip...and this is information that I recieved from the Cuban consulate...if you are flying using a passport from a country that DOES NOT have an embassy in Cuba (ie. the United States), your passport must be valid for 2 months beyond your departure date from Cuba.

Most travel through Mexico or Toronto as these routes seems to be the cheapest options. All you have to do is ask the customs agent not to stamp your passport. They actually know this and won't do it,but you should still ask. It's very safe and thousands go through this every year. I've never heard of anyone ever having any problems upon return. Cuban customs doesn't stamp passports. I've never had my passport stamped by them.
  8. I'm still game for tomorrow. Are we still on? What time and where again?

    Canadian Newbie!

Congrats and welcome! You'll find lots of helpful information here on this site. There are lots of family friendly resorts out there. You might want to start by narrowing it down to a specific location first. It'll definitly help you choose a resort!
  10. Okay ladies, I need your help. I'm trying to decide what colour shirt the best man should wear. FH is wearing a black suit with very fine chocolate brown pinstripes, with a diamond white shirt and a cream coloured tie, with light blue designs on it. My MOH is wearing this dress: in this colour I would like the BM in black dress pants, but I'm not sure what colour shirt. I'm thinking either white, light blue or cobalt (similar to my MOH) dress. Also, should the BM wear the same tie as FH? Would it look silly if he was wearing a different tie? Also, my dress is ivory. What do you ladies think?
  11. I was born and raised in Toronto, but moved to Oshawa a year and a half ago. I went to school in Guelph.
  12. I just founds 2 Canadian sites for anyone who might be doing tees etc. Zazzle | Custom T-Shirts, Personalized Gifts, Posters, Art, and more http://http://t-shirts.cafepress.ca/...light-t-shirts I haven't ordered anything from, so I can't tell you what they are like, but for those that are interested in Canadian sites/companies, et.c, they might be worth checking out. I'm still debating whether I will order anything from them.
  13. Okay ladies, I'm going to change it up a bit again. Did anyone purchase/make bridal party t-shirts? I picked up some iron-on letters and 2 t-shirts today for me and my MOH. My MOH is 5'4'' and skinny, so I picked her up a fitted tee. When I looked at the sizes, there was no way I was going to fit into the shirt. So I picked up a regular tee for myself. I finished them this afternoon, but my tee looks awful. I hate it! It's so big and not cute at all. It's a man's tee with girly writing on it. I've looked on line and all the cute stuff if sooooooo small. I see the size charts for these tees and they say XL fits sizes 12-14. I'm not where near that size. I would like to buy/make something cute, but I can't find anything that fits! Do you have any suggestions? I might just end up scrapping the whole idea in the end. It's not necessary, just something I would have liked. It's a good thing that whole lot only cost me $20.
  14. Bump. I didn't want to start a new thread, but I was wondering if anyone had some more ideas for hostess gifts. My MOH is throwing me a shower next month and I know she's done a tremondous amount of work and planning, and has spent some $$. I would really like to get her something for all her hard work. What I have come up with so far is I bought a beach bag, and I was going to get her a nice beach towel, a bottle of wine and a gift card for Chapters. I was wondering if anyone else had some other suggestions. Also, a few of my other friends have helped her out. They aren't bridesmaids, but they are helping her organize the shower. I'd like to get each of them something small as a thankyou. So you have any suggestions for that?
  15. 5:30 is fine for me. I'm only taking the GO train home. I work at University & Adelaide.
  16. What I great idea! I'm in. I voted for August 14th. Jack Astor's on Front Street sounds like a great place because I'm in Oshawa and I'll be taking to GO train back as well.
  17. Thank you so much for posting your review! I can't wait for my wedding there in 3 months! I can't wait to see pics.
  18. Great thread! I'll go! 1. Registry: Sears.ca 2. OOT bags: I think we'll just be doing travel mugs, and unfortunately don't think we'll be able to use 4imprint.ca as their minimum order amounts are much higher than the number of guests we'll have. I think we'll be using discountmugs.com. 3. Wedding Attire: Dress - Becker's Bridal (sister store to The Dressing Room) on The Danforth in Toronto. Groom's Attire - Moores 4. Rings: Ering - Peoples Wedding Bands - Ben Moss 5. Invitations: My inviations were actually from Target. They were shipped to may Aunt in the US who brought them up with her when she came for a visit, thereby saving me the duty and they were a gift from my parents. I had DIY STD's purchaed from Walmart. Other stationary was purchased from Grand & Toy and Michaels. 6. Flowers: Lori's Hearts N Flowers - Oshawa 7. Decor: Michaels and the resort 8. Travel Arrangements: Weddings By Oceans 9. Are you active on any other Canadian Forums? (if yes which ones): Wedding Bells and Canadian Bride 10. Other: I ordered my ring pillow and cake topper from Wedding Favours Canada-Wedding Party Gifts-Bridal Shower Gifts-Weddingfavours.ca. They are based in London, Ontario and all prices are in Canadian dollars. bridesmaid jewelery from Etsy.com. I tried to purchase as much stuff in Canada that I could. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a lot of options. There are still a few things left to do, so I'm hoping that I can purchase the rest here.
  19. How were the massages and how much did they cost? Also, were you able to book your hair appointments before you got there and how much were those? Thanks so much for posting this information. Just one more question...are you able to make changes to wedding menus. I have some guests coming that are deathly allergic to shellfish/vegitarian/doesn't eat pork for religious reasons. Would they be able to do a pasta dish for certain people?
