  1. What if I don’t have a witness? If you do not have witnesses available, these will be provided by the resort at no additional cost. This is what I got right off the Dreams Resort website under frequently asked questions - not sure if it is accurate . . . .
  2. Does anyone know about the witnesses having to be there four days in advance? I am having about 18 people come to my wedding, but I'm not sure if four people will come as early as four days in advance. Will that be a problem . . . OR will the resort provide witnesses at no cost? Tina
  3. Lucy, Thanks for that info and the pics of your reception on the beach. I was wondering if it gets really dark on the beach for the reception with just the lights under the table and the tiki torches (did you have the tiki torches)? It appears that you had some extra lights - were those provided by the DJ - or were those an extra charge. Also where is the closest bathroom for guests to use - Is it Seaside Grill or the Tower lobby? Do you know how much extra the dance floor with the lights were? Thanks for all your help - can't wait to see your professional pics! Tina
  4. Tina and Lucy - I'm considering the same - 20-25 people in the gazebo, cocktail hour on the terrace, dinner on the beach. But - eek - I don't know where to start or how crazy expensive I'm talking! I received some info from Gaby - so I know what the packages are, but I'm not sure of the little upgrades (looking at the Ultimate Wedding Package). Can you guys give me an idea of your budgets/upgrades (if you feel comfortable - I understand if you don't!) Thanks!! M Hello M, On our contract Gaby gave us a list of prices The dreams ultimate package is $2650 blood work $330 translation of birth certificates $110 validation of certificates $181.5 renting the sound system for the ceremony at gazebo $198 total: $3469.5 chair bows are extra - not sure on exact price - i know i have it somewhere lights under the tables are extra extra gazebo decor So that is mainly just the basics - about $3500 for the biggest package - don't forget to add in room and airfare as well. Great deal though with everything you get in the package . . . I hope that helps Tina
  5. Hey Tabitha, I hear it is different for everyone - they are very flexible with the deposit. If they told you that they reserved your date for you then you should be fine, but I would initiate making the deposit just so you know it is definitely set. I sent my deposit via credit card back in July. Everything works out the way it is supposed to - are you using Juan, the photographer at the resort? I am and I'm sure you can get the pictures that you want. You are getting married where there is beautiful scenery and even if a non-professional picture is taken, it will look great! I'm getting married at the gazebo as well - we are expecting about 20-25 people. I am having the cocktail hour on the terrace and the reception on the beach. I just got my dress last weekend and it was a very emotional experience for me - I'm getting so excited! We went to dreams last July and loved it - we saw a wedding there and fell in love with the venue. Can't wait to hear more about your experience! Tina
  6. Hello Dolphin !!! Welcome - I'm excited to hear that you set your date at Dreams Cancun! My name is Tina and I'll be getting married June 12th. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions - I've found this website to be very helpful. So have you decided where you are having your ceremony and reception - Clue us in to what you have planned so far - I can't wait to hear all about it and get to know you better! Warmly, Tina
  7. Hello Destination, Welcome to the site! It's good to know that we have another bride joining us that weekend. I'm very excited and there is lots of info here. Please let us know if there is anything you need Tina
  8. Does anyone know if you can bring your own officiant to the wedding? I read that someone did and had their own traditions incorporated into the ceremony. I would love to do this - I welcome any feedback or information that anyone has. Also what does everyone think the etiquette would be if I brought my own - paying for his flight and room or just the room? Please let me know your thought . . . Tina
  9. I am interested in getting a version of the Canon D song someone was referring to earlier on this post. If it is still available, please send it to me at [email protected]. I would greatly appreciate it. Tina
  10. I'm getting married in June 2009 and I am using Juan Navarro, the photographer through the resort. I reviewed his website and I was pleased with his work. He responded to my questions and he wrote me an e-mail as follows: I am honored you like my job and I will be more than happy to help you. I cannot sell or offer any packages different from the ones your wedding coordinator has already offered you. For any information regarding the packages please do not hesitate to contact Claudia Cantillo, your wedding coordinator. Indeed, the Dreams Ultimate Wedding package includes 50 printed pictures in an album and the same pictures in a CD. For this package I shoot around 250 pictures, and if you are interested in having all the pictures taken in a CD you can do so for an extra fee. If I can be of any further assistance, please, do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Juan Navarro I hope this helps anyone who is wondering about the photographer at Dreams Cancun. I am just finding it easier to just use all the resources available through the resort. The simpler the better for me. Tina

  13. I was there in July 2007 for 5 days and it rained the last night for 30minutes. No need to worry - the rainy season is a lot different than it is here.
  14. We are all thinking of you! Please be safe and let us know if there is anything at all we can do. You have our support! Warmly, Tina
  15. Bisha do you have more photos that you can post. I would love to see the rest of your photos. Thanks
  16. This is what I got from someone on this forum. I hope this helps! I had requested from Claudia a copy of the ceremony that they read so I would know if we wanted to use there's or write our own. I thought some of you girls who are getting married at Dreams Cancun would like to read it. Here it is: In this special occasion you should recall to moments when you first met and all the events that made you come to this place at this time… you are here today to affirm your love and devotion one to another. We are gathered here to perform your civil marriage under the Mexican law, from now and you will have rights but also obligations before it. You are given a great step in your personal, family and social life, as of today you shall form a new family. The ______ family. You are entering into a union that is the closest and intimate one; it is the most precious relationship between two people. Contracting marriage is not only the result of a signature on a document, it does start with it, but it shall not be seen as a mere requisite. Marriage is the sum of both your consents, it is the result of common dreams, goals, desires, set out to give yourselves for the better good and to live in perfect harmony, next to the person you have chosen to share your life with. Marriage is not, in any way, a state of perfect union, it is however, perfectible and it depends on each of you to ensure that everyday life is to be a continuous flirt, a romance that nourishes itself everyday, and whenever it may be clouded by difference, may your heart and head resolve them and not your hands or insults. Forgiveness, understanding, communication, respect and love will be the primary tools to solve your marital problems. “What love means†LOVE IS PACIENT AND KIND, LOVE IS NOT JEALOUS OR BOASTFUL, IT IS NOT ARROGANT OR RUDE. LOVE DOES NOT INSIST ON ITS OWN WAY, IT IS NOT IRRITABLE OR RESENTFUL, IT DOES NOT REJOICES AT WRONG BUT REJOICES IN RIGTH LOVE BEARS ALL THING –BELIEVES ALL THINGS—HOPES ALL THINGS ENDURES ALL THINGS ‘LOVE NEVER ENDS’. Keep that beautiful like that shines in your eyes forever, just remember that the love between a couple is to give and live for the other the best you can, (just as if it was the first day and loving as if it was the last) If you can love with your minds as well as your hearts and bring humor and compassion to your differences, if you can be faithful in though and in deed, and generous of both hand spirit, yours will be a marriage of growth and joy...
  17. Welcome!!! My name is Tina and I'm getting married Friday, June 12, 2009 at Dreams Cancun. Please feel free to ask any questions. How many people are you having at your wedding? Where will your ceremony and reception be held? You picked a great resort
  18. That's true about the lighting. I'm sure either way it will be beautiful! I'm really excited Gaby just e-mailed me the photographer and dj - I like what I see.
  19. Hello Everyone! I'm a dreams cancun bride as well. I'm just discovering the wealth of information here on this forum. Great job girls! Bride and Groom: Tina & Mark Wedding date: June 12, 2009 Ceremony: 5pm Gazebo Cocktail: 6pm Club terrace Reception: 7pm Beach Guest count 20-25
  20. Thanks for your comments about the beach side setting reception. I think it would be so comfortable to be on the beach for the reception. My only concern is the darkness If anyone else has had their reception on the beach at Dreams Cancun please let me know. I would love to hear all about it. What you liked and maybe what you would have done differently. Thanks everyone!
  21. Does anyone have any info on what it is like to have the reception on the beach? Pros/Cons . . .? I would appreciate any input.
  22. Jodey, Wow, you are ahead of the game. That's great that you are already deciding on dresses. You have plenty of time. Since you have a contract, did you put $500.00 down or did you put 50% down? On the website it says to reserve the date, they need a $500.00 dollare deposit, but on the contract it says %50 of the total cost of the wedding is due? It confuses me, but it sounds like you are doing the finalizing upon arrival. Turquiose and Orange are very pretty colors - great choice. My colors are blue and We are expected about 35 people. We are getting married in the gazebo, we are having the cocktail hour at the club terrace, and the reception buffet on the beach. We are also doing the Dreams Ultimate Wedding Package. Lets keep in touch. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! Tina
  23. Hello JODEY, My wedding coordinator is Gaby too. She's great; she's been very helpful. Where are you in the process of planning your wedding? I have the summers off and so I'm trying to get a majority of the wedding planning done now so I'm not so stressed later. So far, I have my wedding dress and I'm in the process of negotiating the contract. Keep me updated on how everything is going! Tina
