  1. i haven't tried this yet but my exercise physiology professor in college told us that a hangover is really the result of an electrolyte imbalance in the body. she said to drink gatorade while drinking or after drinking to help restore balance. you could try it before your wedding and then if it works package up some baggies of gatorade powder that your guests can easily mix in their water bottles.

  3. I am dying to hear how the weddings at the Imperial went. I'm sad no one's posted yet with pictures or a review. I'm looking at this hotel for the beach that it's located on. I also read the reviews on tripadvisor and got kind of freaked out. I do figure that by the time i'd get married next April that those types of "new resort" things should be ironed out pretty well.

Anyone out there seen or had there wedding at the Valentin so far? Its only been open 6 months so hard to find info on it. Looking forward to chatting with everyone! oops! forgot you were looking in the RM region, sorry about the Dreams Cabo comment!
  5. does anyone know if they have the bali beds at the Secrets resorts? I saw these beds that aren't Bali beds on the Dreams Cabo website, they are chic and amazing! They are these huge round woven beds with room enough inside (there's a huge cushion inside) for two people probably. If you go to the Dreams Cabo website and look at their photo gallery you will see them.

Here is a link to someone on this forum who got married on Isla Mujeres: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t15030 i considered Na Balam but decided against so we wouldn't have to take the ferry to get to the all the activities that our guests would like to do.

I don't know but am still looking and would love any feedback!!!! Thanks! Hi Jenny: I have seen pictures of Na Balam and it's SO gorgeous. I have never been there and don't know anyone who's been there unfortunately so i can't be of much help. I have checked it out on Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor for an idea of what the resort is like from other people's perspectives. The reviews aren't necessarily about wedding specific issues but it helps to get a feel for the resort overall. Good luck with your decision making! Kelly
  8. Carla: that sound gorgeous! If you decide to do that for sure you MUST post pictures on here i think it would be awesome to have pictures in a wedding dress in Venice along a little walkway or in a gondola under a bridge...ahhhh so many places around the world i bet you could find some great deals further inland too in Mexico, away from the more popular places. Good luck finding a place, the hunt should be fun!

We've spent hours showing them to friends and at our back home receptions!!! Everyone is amazed! Take a look at some of her work and you'll have a hard time going anywhere else... Nothing against Claudia or the other "approved" photogs, but we'll always be in love with Elizabeth and the memories she captured from our amazing EDR wedding!!! See for yourself: Amy and Brian Hi Brig: i LOVE Elizabeth's work and am thinking of having her shoot our wedding next April. My question to you about hiring her is, do you wish you had had her for more or less of your day? I don't want to ask which package (how many hours you chose because then duh, i'd know how much you paid for her) but do you think getting only 6 hours coverage would make a bridge happy? I'd prefer 10 but i don't want to spend more on my photographer than i do on my whole wedding. i want to avoid having her for things i don't really care that much about (getting hair and make-up done) but i'd like her capture our first dance, father daughter dance, etc. Thanks!
  10. i was just re-reading the post and realized that you are having a "couples" wedding shower. I went to one for some friends a couple of years ago. It was really fun! they had their party at the groom's parents' winery that wasn't quite open for business yet. They had drinks, snacks, easy decorations, music and i think food that you'd cater in from Famous Dave's even though they made it themselves. So everyone kind of hung out and ate first then they split people up into tables and we played one game of competitive Scrabble. it sound really lame but my table made it fun by being really dirty (although not everyone's family will find that appropriate). After that everyone just mingled or ate more food and then the older generation started leaving. The younger people just went to the groom's parents' house and went in the hot tub. There was a table for presents when you got to the winery but no one even mentioned opening or anything. Right after Scrabble they were pretty much taken out to the cars, so that's an idea too. have the table and the basket for cards then have someone remove them from sight before the end of the party.
  11. Dear Self: it's OK if someone parks in "your" spot for more than an hour at a time, after all they are NOT ASSIGNED. Stop freaking out because the one on the street is closer to the door anyway. p.s. Stop being a brat about the photographer and location, pick one or the other, you only have 8 months left to decide!
  12. DreamsTulumBride: OH MY GOD! you are THAT girl! i LOVE the picture of you on the horse in the water, i even sent Elizabeth an email asking about that location and that whole picture! Wow, you look so amazing, it's one of my favorite pictures of hers. way to go! ErinB: your post was hilarious, it made me laugh thinking of this big guy just smothering you with his body. lol
  13. Betsy, thanks for posting pics and great ideas for AHRs. This is a funny question, but did you feel weird wearing your dress again? My mom thinks i should for when i have mine next year but i feel weird.
  14. So far i kind of really love Hartyt509. She posts damn hilarious comments and has great advice!
  15. Thanks everyone for your advice. FI told his mom the day after i came up with the idea. So while he was down here she called on a Saturday and said if that's the case then her twin wouldn't really want to come but that that would be OK. so, so far, so good. We're still trying to decide on a place so we may open up the guest list more for friends but i'm not sure how we'll swing that one. lol we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. Hardyt, i LOVE your posts and comments, you always make laugh!
  16. Welcome Abby! Ever since i found this forum i can't stay away. i usually check my email like 80 times a day, i sit here and keep hitting refresh, well, this is now my new "email", i refresh everytime i come to the computer. i have found some amazing ideas and locations!
  17. the colors look fabulous together. i'm always a fan of the bubble wrap envelopes since they hardly weight anything.
  18. thanks for posting your pictures! i love seeing other people's plans and i LOVE your STD's! Your BM's hair will look so perfect on the beach, beautiful! Congratulations
  19. That's a rockin' proposal!! i love that he was all hot and sweaty from hiding in the closet. what great timing he had, he must have had fun planning the whole big surprise!
  20. Does anyone know if there are any other resorts on this stretch of Maroma Beach? I think that maybe Secrets Maroma is also on this stretch of beach but am uncertain. I know that no matter where i stay here it will be more expensive than a more densely populated area but even if i could stay a little ways away and "wander" onto the beach that would make my year!
  21. i don't know how much you're willing to spend but there are some pretty private, amazing places with gorgeous beaches in the PDC area. There is Secrets Silversands or Secrets Maroma (opening this year), there is also Hotel Maroma. Hotel Maroma is pretty eco friendly and looks fantastic. The above places are very high end but from what i've been reading on other site, SO worth the splurge if you and your guests can handle it. Otherwise i know there are some awesome places on Isla Mujeres or even in Puerto Morelos. It will also depend on if you're looking for an all inclusive or something more like a villa. I have found amazing places all over the PDC and Cancun area that i have rejected for one reason or another. (i.e. not all inclusive, no night life, too many bad reviews, etc). I think i may have a list somewhere and if you have a specific one in mind i may have an email with a price list from that specific hotel/resort. I have emailed so many places but i save all the emails

They do allow children for the day of the wedding if you need that, and their sister resort is right across the street. The sister resort is a family resort. Anyone who stays at The Royal is allowed to use all of the facilities at The Gran Porto and if people stay at the Gran Porto, they can pay for a day pass at the Royal if they wish. I'll be posting a trip report shortly after we return. We will be staying there for two glorious, relaxing weeks. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I will try my best to answer whatever I can. Good luck with your planning! Sarah: i am so excited for your wedding! i'm dying to read another review about a wedding at The Royal. Are you getting married on the beach? Where will your reception be?? Are you using an outside photographer, and if so, is there a "penalty" so to speak? Thanks! Kelly

Maura, i can't wait to see how yours turn out! Thanks for the info on AmyH, i'm going to check her forum out right now
  24. I'm currently using a TA but don't yet know how it'll all work out. I have to pick a destination positively first, though i should be doing that in the next few days! We also have the policy of if my guests don't book through them in the "group" then they won't be considered part of my wedding party and their names won't go to the resort as part my affair. that kind of pisses me off and I'm waiting to hear back about if they'll change that for me.
  25. I wish you a happy wedding and I hope you get a quick chance to rest up so that you will enjoy Fiji and NZ as much as you want to. Travel safely.
