  1. I am waiting with bated breath to see how they turn out! Finding BDW is the best thing i've ever found in my life (besides FI of course!)
  2. OK, so i the information that i have to go on is VERY limited. I saw like the last 10 seconds of a a woman that won a decorating show (I think) that is on HGTV. I know her first name is Jennifer, she won the show probably 3-4 weeks ago I'd say. Her "craft" is that she took stemless wineglasses and votive candle holders and decorated them. They were very classy. She somehow put people's names on them in cool fonts and on the stemless wineglass she was able to put a more elaborate snowflake pattern on it. She mentioned something about how she let the patterns dry and then "baked" the patterns on and then ran them through the dishwasher. So it sounds like it's long lasting. I cannot find information on this ANYWAY online. I've spent a few days browsing and searching but can't find cool idea. If you have done this before or know what I"m talking about I'd LOVE to hear from you. Thank you!
  3. Hi Everyone: OK, so I was under the assumption that I could invite all friends to a bridal shower. I live in Kansas City, but my family is all in Minnesota. That means two bridal showers, and possibly a third in Nebraska. I thought I'd check on BDW first to make sure that I was doing it the "right" way. Well, from what I can find you're only supposed to be invite people that are invited to your wedding. We purposely wanted to have a very small wedding (we invited 30 people, and many live in other states). So that means if I have a Nebraska shower only two people besides myself would be invited. In Minnesota I'd invite 4 people and in Kansas City I'd invite 3 people. What do I do for invites? Isn't there some sort of exception to the rule when you only invite a very small number of people to your actual wedding? I think that my friends, at least in KC would be sad if I didn't have a shower, I've had some friends mention it when we first got engaged (April 200. I don't care if people give us gifts, but I know that people want to be updated, etc. What is your opinion?
  4. This is awesome! It's just want I'd like to do. How long did it take you to put together? Also, did you get it printed off professionally or do it at your home? Did you send this out between the STDs and formal invites or WITH the invites?

The only reason i saw them was because my mom was supposed to be mailing them out but she's been at the hospital with my Grandfather the last few days and i happened to stumble upon them. Thank god i did. Picasa Web Albums - Sonia - Jack'sFilipe'... Please give me your honest opinion....are the shower invites not terrible, am i crazy? Well, i'm definitely not a fan of the shower invites, especially since the STDs look so fantastic. How much did she have to make them? They look like they were done very quickly with not much thought put into them. I do think the lounge chair is drawn nicely but the fake pearl beads kind of scared me. I love your STDs and the boarding passes. Which font did you use for the "Now Boarding" words? That's an awesome font!

Angela, yes for my FI it's going to be a total surprise! I'm so horrible with secrets that I just hope I can hold out until the night of our wedding! Also, my photographer is downtown and we're out in the suburbs. I'm going to be doing several different shoots in different locations so we'll be meeting multiple times and for sometimes a few hours at a time. Hopefully I can *lie* well about where I'm going and hide my clothes, shoes, etc. ! ((there are no words in the book - photos only) i had a lot of outfits...astros theme (fave baseball team), schoolgirl, black, sexy outfit, jeans with personalized undies....there was no cohesive theme really. the hair and makeup was "glam" - loose spiral curls and smoky eyes just have SO much fun - that's my advice!! Thank you for describing your book. 20 pages sounds perfect and the many different outfits sounds like fun! I'm so glad to hear from someone that it was so much fun! The personalized undies are great! Did you do it yourself or order them online?
  7. You look amazing! You and your photographer both did a great job! my photog has a friend that makes little pocket sized books. I want something bigger than that and when it comes down to do it I've done scrapbooking before and can make the same books as the tiny ones. Let me know how you like your album when you get it. I'm interested to know if they'll make it "magazine" style and have words and colors, etc. or if it'll be a plain photo album. Thanks for the info!
  8. Hello Everyone: I have decided that I'm going to go for some boudoir photos. What i'm unsure of is how is everyone else setting up the presentation for them: Are you doing little mini pocket sized photo books with quotes and scrapbooking stuff? or are you doing a large sized photo album? Purely a scrapbook? A collage of the photos? An online album only? I'd love any input that you might have on presentation because I don't know what to do with the photos once I have them. Also, did any of you do a variety of photos? For instance, did you do some artistic nudes, black and white, color, "naughty", traditional boudoir photos, etc or did you stick with one "style"? Also, any tips/advice for a first timer?

Here's Cecilia's e-mail: Unfortunately our recipes are not standardized yet due to we have just a couple month open… the positive point of these is that our Head Chef (who is an excellent chef ) could be so creative about these … in this case you could tell me what description do you like more and we can prepare for you... And this is her response when I questioned that: Unfortunately the Wedding menus are corporative then there is not an exactly recipe to follow and is in this point where our chefs use their creativity to create that delicious dishes; unfortunately there is just one head Chef for all the resort, and he has to coordinate the preparation of foods, prepare food , order foods, check the quality of the foods, for all the resort restaurants that`s why have the dishes description has been to hard and slow and that`s why, as well the reason because he can not make yet the wedding recipe and have a standard of that; So...who knows WHAT we'll get ! :-) OK, i'm SO not a fan of this! I guess I'll have to give them what I want before I head down. blah. good news though: i sent Cecilia an email because I want to make my own decorations and centerpieces so I can use them for my AHRs too....so I asked if i could mail them and they could store them. The answer is YES and there is NO storage fee!! woo-hoo!! She said to just let them know when you send stuff so that they can be ready and expecting it. I love it!
  10. Hello Everyone, my account agent at one of the temp agencies I am using found me a job with the most amazing company ever! I'm so grateful even though the early morning wake-ups are KILLING me. Thanks for your advice!

But when I fell in love with 1 dress, I decided to sacrifice another dress so I could get my dream dress. =) I've always dreamed of wearing designer and couture for my wedding. I am wearing 2 veils that cost me close to $1,000 for both. No shoes and accessories yet... yikes!!! oh well... you only do it once. i'd rather have a big bill at the end than a lifetime of regrets. =/ I'm curious to know what an almost $6,000 dress looks like, will you please post pics of it? I bet it looks and feels amazing on!
  12. Zack and Miri, lol I can't wait to see that movie, it looks so hilarious. i DID cry at two parts in What Happens in Vegas with Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher. haha I am actually very teary eyed and laughing at the same time reading your posts, i can't help it! I almost started crying when a vendor came into work yesterday and we were talking about the election, etc. dear god! Then yesterday one of my co-workers told me why one of the big wigs walks around looking all bored and sad and how he's one of her favorites and I almost lost it! I also cry when i'm happy, sad, upset, excited, etc. i just can't seem to control it! i wanted to have "I Loved Her First" but I'm pretty sure I can't handle that one, even thinking about it right now makes me teary eyed.
  13. OMG, thank you everyone for replying!! I feel SO much better now. So many of you made me laugh hysterically that I feel maybe I won't cry so much now! Those of you whose fiances/husbands cried, that's the cutest thing ever! I think FI will have shaking hands and maybe his voice will shake but he won't cry. i think I'll lose it if my Dad cries though!
  14. I'm so glad to hear that it turned out OK. Thank you for writing to let us know how it went!

Before I got my foster babies this past spring I was driving with my two babies in the same carrier back and forth when my FI was living out of state. They got fairly used to it which was nice. BUT when you fly on most airlines your cats are required to be in separate carriers. One of mine is decent on her own but the other one is HATES it and gets so scared she shakes and pants. It freaks me out. SO i'm trying to think of a way to get them both more used to traveling on their own in carriers. Russia is far away so it makes me feel better that your friend was able to bring hers. Basically any country that was owned by Britain doesn't allow cats to fly into the country in the cabin, so the UK, AU, China, South Africa, etc. So one the flights before we reach South Africa they could fly in the cabin with us but once we are on the last leg they have to go in cargo, which i wouldn't trust in the US, let alone other, non Westernized countries. I have looked into hiring pet specific travel agents if it comes down to it.
  16. Hi Everyone: I am asking this question because every time i hear Canon in D i start crying...and not just like tearing up, but real crying. I'm not sure why, i think it's really beautiful, but not so beautiful that it makes me cry like other things. I think it actually sounds kind of sad. I REALLY want it at my wedding but I don't want to be crying as I walk down the aisle. I also think I'll cry at the ring part and maybe even the vows. Are there any criers out there that did NOT cry when they thought they would? Also are there any non-criers that DID cry? I am allergic to alcohol so I'm doing this thing totally sober which is why I think i'll be crying. I hope it doesn't make FI bad because I'm SOOOO excited to get married but I just know i'll cry and ruin the pictures!

Funny you should mention foster cats because I happen to have the MOST adorable foster babies right now! these poor kittens were found by my aunt after their mom got run over she did the right thing rescuing them but didnt have the time to care for 2 six week old babies and had just been leaving them in a room by themselves all day. So I took them and am currently trying to find a place for them. The FI was originally mad but now he wants to keep them but Im not sure we can handle 4 cats in our townhouse so right now we are just enjoying them and figuring out what to do. I got to post some pics they are too cute to miss! This is the boy hops this is Islay his sister OMG!! I totally squealed when I saw them!! They are SO adorable, and i love cats with blue eyes, there's just something about them that i've loved for as long as I can remember. you HAVE to keep them! I'm only joking because I know how hard it is to not have enough space. The only reason mine have been adopted to someone else is because FI's condition when he let me foster was that I couldn't beg him to keep them. He loves them too now but if I could hand pick ANY parents for my kittens I'd pick the ones that are going to adopt them. They're pretty much every single quality that I wanted (and i made a huge list of them). Mine were fostered through a shelter so i had help because of the shelter website and petfinder.com. My FI told me that the better of a bio I put online the better applicants we would get, and for us that was totally true. I'm not sure if you can put yours on petfinder or not but then you could specify things on there (i.e. 2 kid family, non-smokers, stable home, etc). I didn't do that for mine, except i DID say they had to adopted together because they're so best friends. Even our foster babies play favorites, hehe. They are about 6.5 months old and SUCH little devils, I never remember mine being so crazy when they were that age but maybe it has to do because there are two of them?

We only use green cleaning products and make sure they can't get into the bathroom. So I'm not sure where he would of found something. Plus he was so tiny he couldn't get anywhere. So I'm not sure what would of poisoned him?? Now, i'm way over my head on this one but i DO know that it happened to my uncle and his cats. It's a pretty different story because my uncle has a farm and his cats are barn cats but he cannot manage to keep cats alive on his property. He always had cats when I was growing up and the last one passed away when I was in late high school. Ever since then I've bugged him about getting more so that I can play with them when i visit him (not even once a year because of the distance). But he was told by a vet that there is something either in the air or the soil that is causing the cats to get some infectious thing (i want to say it's kind of like human pneumonia) and they can't survive it. Were both of your kittens up to date on all vaccs? I'm not a huge fan of vaccinations but i do think they can be important for kittens and cats until about age 7
  20. I just realized that with all of those extra toes you now have even MORE claws to cut!
  21. Thanks for the advice ladies. I'll have to get more creative I guess! I currently have about four temp agencies that are actively looking for me and the others that I contacted have done nothing so far. I like going through a temp agency because of the feedback that I get post interview. There is a huge job fair that is coming up in my area November 11th for all industries, any company, etc but I really need to find something way before then.

What industry do you work in that you get to travel in other countries for work? I want to find a job where I can travel internationally but I have no idea what industries would be.
  23. Hello Ladies: I was browsing through the Chit Chat corner and saw all types of threads on here. Hopefully you all can help me out a little bit here. I think that the layout of my resume is pretty good (or so I've told by different HR managers) but I need to do something and do it quickly to get a new job. Here is my background in a nutshell: 4 year BS degree from Iowa State University in Exercise Science study abroad programs in South Korea and Tasmania, AU Fitness Internship Personal Trainer for the last almost 3.5 years at home business sales and marketing experience real estate hostess (6 years ago), basically an admin asst/leasing asst. type position but only for 3 months during college So i am looking for almost anything. I just want to get my foot in the door for future advancement opportunities. I would like to start either as an admin asst. or HR asst. Ultimately i think it would be amazing if i could end up with an international company and be able to travel internationally (i prefer some countries over others but that's the beside the point right now). I check careerbuilder and monster everyday, i have 4 temp agencies working for me right now (all active, the others are a bunch of duds), and i talk to friends to see if they know of any open positions. I know the job market isn't exactly booming right now but I NEED to find something. Does anyone have any ideas of what else I can/should be doing to look for a job? Personality wise I am very marketable because I'm professional, intelligent, hard working, motivated, and willing to start at the bottom. I don't even know what kinds of positions are out there that maybe i'd love doing. Maybe a pricing analyst? who knows, but i'm open to all suggestions! Thanks girls (and guys)!
