Hi Girls! Please help if you know about this or have already been through it. We are in Mexico right now for our wedding on Saturday. Well, tonight as we were eating dinner i suddenly seemed to remember that we were supposed to do something related to our birth certificates. We are from the US if that matters. I came back to the room and looked up what we were told. Well, we hired Luxe but I have no emails talking about birth certificates excpt in regards to being adopted and I was told that I was good to go. Are we supposed to have our birth certificates with us?!? We met with our WC today she never mentioned about it either. Please help! We are having a civil ceremony on Saturday and I'll die if we aren't having a real, legal wedding!

Kits55...I absolutely love your parasols. They helped motivate me to get started on mine. I traced all 85 or so of mine this past weekend and now I'm onto the painful task of painting them all. So far we've only completed 10 ( I pretty much did it the same way using the projector to trace in a black marker (I did some sloppy tracing because it would be covered by the paint) and painting over it in black acrylic paint. Hey, Kits55...how many layers of paint did you use? Here are some pictures of the process and my final product. I have my monogram shown below but all of the parasols that we'll give away (about 80) will have only the date on it (it's the one in the top right of the last picture). We did one MOB, one MOG, our big O, and Thank you. The rest have our date on it. Hey! Great job getting all of the tracing done! Thank you SO much posting the pictures of how the tracing and projector is used. I forgot all about taking pictures of the whole process so I'm glad you were able to add it to the thread. We used two coats on each of the parasols because one was definitely not enough. Three would be even better but even up close two coats look really nice. Your parasols look amazing! I still can't believe that you're doing 85 but you're my parasol hero! -

However, my guests are carrying them around in the purses so that they can show their friends!! that's when you know you've done a great job...when they're carrying them around in their purses! lol Thank you for the kind words

No, they are printed with a font that's called Scriptina. You can download it from here Scriptina Font | dafont.com. Da Font is nice because in the help section it tells you how to install the font on your computer so it shows up in all of your Word applications. If you have problems i can try to help you even though I don't really know what I'm doing very well. The font is very script-y so there are big spaces between some of the letters. You can that by changing the kerning, or character spacing. I had to play with that a lot using this font but there's a really helpful thread about changing the kerning on BDW. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t31083 Hope this helps!

You didn't see where I got the parasols because I forgot to post that! I bought ours from Oriental Trading Company (OTC) Paper Paint Your Own! Parasols. They are called Paper Paint Your Own but have a picture of one with flowers on it. They are sold in 12 packs. Each 12 pack costs $29.99. I will say that out of 12 we only had 5 perfect ones but 2 more that would have done in a pinch. The quality is not great but if you don't need that many then it's a pretty decent deal. I read reviews saying that they'll send you news if you call if you get defective ones so order with enough time -

I love this thread. I found it when I was a true noob and bookmarked but couldn't find it in all of my wedding stuff. I only have 1.5 weeks before we leave; i am SO far behind on everything but I'm still going to attempt this! I have a good friend who will let me use her photoshop and I actually figured out a way to get the lighter text boxes but didn't play around with it enough to figure out how to change the opacity. It took me HOURS to figure it out as well. Thank you for the template and inspiration!

Hey all you girls that are getting married in the Riviera Maya Mexico region...are any of you interested in sharing an order of transparent hot pink pens with "Riviera Maya 2009" on them? I attached a link. the price per pen includes the set up fee, etc. I don't know shipping yet. I need to order mine by Thursday, April 9 because we leave in about 12 days. PM or email me if interested. I am obsessed with these pens. Palm Tree Pen - Personalized

Painting parasols?

Thank you so much! I can't wait to see how yours turn out. I was also a little bit worried about the Gracias BUT then i saw another BDWer's signature picture and it's gorgeous. I think her name is Alyssa. They are standing together on a rock outcropping type area and the sun is setting. Their parasol is lying on the ground near the camera and they are in the background. it is GORGEOUS. Their parasol has a big B on it but I figure we could maybe do something similar with our Gracias since our ceremony will be later-ish in the day. -
OK, here are my invites. They are finally done as of last week. here is the back of the outside, where the embossing was the most difficult. I wasn't able to get a close up of the mistakes that I made but basically it came down to the powder over heating, the stamp not showing up all the way to the edges and even wiping off stray black powder left streaks on some of the invites. the insides were a little bit easier. in this one the invite is open and you can tell how light the font for the names is because you can barely read it. (another mistake). Open invitation with the insert taken out Insert by itself. I will say that the insert was by far the easiest to emboss

Painting parasols?
Kits55 replied to anaderoux's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
OMG, i really love the inspiration picture. I've never run across this one in all my googling. In finished mine this weekend, thanks to a team effort on my fiance, mom, my sister's, and my part. here is the pink parasol that we spray painted just for practice. We used one of the crappy parasols just in case the paint messed it up. Mother of the Bride parasol: Mother of the Groom: Big G with date parasol: Gracias parasol: We did a parasol for the two mothers, two for our BMs, and one that says "Gracias" instead of thank you since we're getting married in Mexico. How we did our parasols: We used black shimmer acrylic paint. We used a projector on all of the parasols that have words on them. My FI then traced in pencil (not a mechanical pencil but one that had a fairly dull tip so it wouldn't break through the paper). We then traced over the pencil in a very thin Sharpie because we found it was much easier to fill in the lettering with paint when there was a dark outline as opposed to the pencil outline. My mom painted the mother parasols and I did the rest. My sister helped me a tiny bit with one of the parasols that has the big G. We have two "G" parasols. -

Painting parasols?
Kits55 replied to anaderoux's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Jacilynda: thanks for the update! I'm also going to attempt mine this weekend I think because my family will be coming down for a visit (but really for my hair trial) . I was also planning on using acrylic paint although i had my fiance borrow a projector from his work so I don't have to the make the stencil. I was having issues trying to figure out how to make a giant stencil when my printer won't print multiple pages for one letter. If you are easily able to make a stencil, please post because I know so many people could benefit from it. -

So, my new question is - do you guys think it would be odd or not very cute to have the BM only carry one flower? I'm thinking like a big, bright Gerber daisy or something tropical... i think it would look awesome! i love that idea, maybe tied with a really pretty ribbon so it can "flow in the wind" would be beautiful. A single bird in paradise might be really cool too depending on what kind of bouquet you are having. My bouquet is going to be real touch flowers and feathers but it's still $110. I was told by a couple of different vendors that usually silk bouquets are comparable in price to live bouquets but one just lasts a long time while the other only lasts a few days.

Are you using a colored embossing power or want a clear embossed look? Then use a colorless watermark inkpad like versaink. 2. When on metalic cardstock, it is really important to use a craft heat tool because your hairdryer is not a focused consistent enough heat source. Send me pics of what happened and I might be able to help more. Hope it all works out! I don't a picture now because i just tried to finish them all yesterday. one of my of my big problems was that the embossing powder was taking so long to melt that it caused problems on the inside of the pocketfolds. some of the black that we embossed on the inside was rubbing off on the pocketfold section of the invites! also i think the powder over melted because it came out looking not quite sparkly like the powder is but a dark black instead. i am planning on embossing the metallic outer envelopes as well but after the stress and disaster of trying to do the pocket folds yesterday i might just scrap that idea. i'm sad because i think our invites look like poo now.

I've always pictured it happening like this, but I'm not sure why not that many people do this - in fact I can't remember seeing anyone do this of the weddings I've been to... Are there pros and cons or is it just a preference thing? For me it was just a preference thing. I had actually envisioned my GM walking the BM down the aisle the entire time. Then I thought about how some of my BM would probably feel more comfortable walking alone. So now I have this vision of the GM standing at the end of the aisle, then each bridesmaid getting to walk down the aisle (with her parasol). I love the BM dresses so I'm being kind of weird and wanting each BM to be focused individually. I also decided I didn't want that type of "formality", it's really more of a tradition for our beach wedding because we're going so casual. The guys, including my FI are wearing some light weight shirts from GAP, nice khakis and flip flops.

hi san fran sarah, i actually did use a Versamark marker part of the time because it seemed to work better than just using the ink pad. I think i might run to Jo-Ann's today to try to find a Versamark ink pad. I have a special embossing tool because I read that hair dryers didn't work. Thanks for the advice. I hope you have a beautiful wedding in five days
