we're getting married in mexico with maybe 30 of our closest friends and family. but when we get home we're having a cocktail reception and inviting 160 people. i wanted a destination wedding from day one but felt really bad about excluding so much family and friends so that's why we're having AHR. our AHR is going to be only hor d'uerves (i can never spell that word right), drinks, ipod but we picked a really different venue which is the aerospace museum where they have historic planes and in the middle of the floor there's enough space for us to have our reception. we're doing a slideshow, sand ceremony, couple flipino traditions to keep with my culture and speeches. no wedding cake, no dances (those will be done in mexico anyways). totally understand on the not wanting a formal reception cuz that's the last thing i want. i agree with the other girls, talk to your mom and tell her what you'd like to do. sure she might be initally disappointed but i think in the end she'd care more about your happiness. if you do it her way it'll just cause you more stress, possibly more money, and you don't want to end up with resentful feelings over this cuz you feel pressured into a formal affair. its your wedding, once in a lifetime event, don't do it any way that you'll regret

i was going to do the legal ceremony in mexico too but then decided to have a quick legal one here then a symbolic one in mexico. i had friends who live in toronto who got married in mexico in dec and i think it was august and she still didn't have her last name changed to his because they were having issues with the spanish documents. i don't know if it was getting them translated or canada wasn't accepting them for a name change or what. but that sealed the deal to do it legally in canada for me. that and we can skip the blood test which just seemed like a hassle

hi mayanbutterfly, you can find all this photographer info if you search the forums but here's my research on mexico photographers. some have prices, some don't if i wasn't that interested in them. also some prices i just copy pasted from what was posted so you'll want to confirm with the actual photographers. i booked with claudia photo and am getting either erick or citilalli for 3 hours. but i'm not having pics done of my reception so that's why it's only 3 hours. ceremony, group, and me and my FI, that's it. hope it helps Mexico Photographers.doc

i don't know if all Dollarama's across Canada stock the same stuff but i've found first aid kits, travel wipes, and these cute canvas bags that you can put 4 pictures in the plastic covers on the front of it. we're going to put pics of us and our wedding date in them. then they can change them out to their own pics when they get home if they want to keep using the bag pretty sure they had aloe gel too but not sunscreen. i'm on the hunt for that too.

i'm having similar confusion issues. after 3 days of my travel agent emailing and calling to confirm a wedding date, he finally did and got may 13. but then paloma responded to one of my old emails before i got may 13 and offered may 22. 2 different conversations about the same wedding and i have a unique name (nyssa) so i can't see paloma getting confused with another nyssa's wedding. but when i asked to confirm the wedding time she asked for the information forms that my travel agent already sent her i'm just crossing my fingers i actually do have that date and i get the time i want

i just wrote this all out for my wedding website so figured i'd share it too On May 5, 2008 I went to Bikini Bootcamp like any other Monday knowing we were celebrating our first anniversary that weekend in Canmore and crossing my fingers for a proposal at that time. Coming home, tired and sweaty there is note taped to the front door “ Hi baby! I know it’s not our anniversary but I thought we could have some fun!! So put down your bag because I got you a treat. So go to the room where you would get something to eat†Getting all excited, curious and not reading the note properly I went into the bedroom where I found another note, flowers, and written on the computer screen was "I love you". “You have found your purple flower!! You have made it this far so don’t get sour, go to the room where you would take a shower!!†Moving to the bathroom as the note indicated was a bubble bath waiting for me and another note “Mmm…a nice warm bath after boot camp could it get any better? But don’t jump in yet you first have to go look where you would get a letter!!†Mystified at why I had to go to the mailbox downstairs and leave the condo I did as I was told and found the last note “You have made it to the end the game is finished my sweet, so go upstairs and get your treat!! Mwah!†Going back upstairs I find my FH all dressed up in a tie, on one knee asking me to marry him. Shrieking like a crazy person “Yes, yes, yes!†I threw my arms around him to find he was hot and sweaty from hiding in the storage closet while I wandered the house following his scavenger hunt proposal. Only after admiring my beloved engagement ring for a bit did I notice stargazing lilies in the kitchen. Whoops, I missed the first note “Well now that you have found the flowers not yet in full bloom, why don’t you take a walk into the bedroom†by going to the bedroom instead of the kitchen Leave it to FH to surprise me with a creative proposal and leave it to me to do it wrong by being too excited and skipping stuff. lol

he was a total stranger that messaged me on facebook messaging turned into msn, which lead to dating a week before our first anniversary he proposed we'll have been together just over 2 years when we get married we went to puerto vallerta for a week after dating for only a couple months you just know when it's right. we like to move fast. lol
