congrats! happy to hear it went well and the backup plan worked when the weather didn't. can't wait for a full review and see your pics. for those who have been there before, did you guys book excursions online or did you book it when you got there at the resort? is it cheaper to book online? we just want to do xcaret and golf.

any advice on somethin that WORKS?
calchik replied to Christinamaria22's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
i personally love The Firm stuff Lose Weight with The FIRM's Exercise Videos, DVDs, and Accessories! Combine Aerobics With Weights To Burn Fat and Calories they come out with new equipment and set of dvds to go with it all the time. i don't have the newest Wave thing but i have a set with a stepper box from about 5 years ago and still use the 4 dvds that came with it happily. their videos are a very good balance of weight training and cardio and they always have a hard ab workout thrown in there too. i recently got Get Chisled and its my favorite workout dvd to date. you can get their videos at Chapters and all you need is hand weights if you don't want to order off the website -

How did you pay for your wedding?
calchik replied to nikkib's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
we opened a wedding account first thing when we got engaged 9 months ago. nothing but wedding stuff gets paid out of it. and we both put a certain amount in every pay check. stuff like wedding attire, rings, MOH, best man, wedding gifts are the own person's responsibility. we're both paying for our own trip on our own too. everything else comes out of the wedding account. we pay for things as they come up. anything huge (like our AHR venue deposit) got paid on one of our credit cards then promptly paid off with the money from the wedding account. we're on budget for our wedding...honeymoon, not so much. lol -
Advice Pleaseeee!! (Before I over or under react!)
calchik replied to sstotz's topic in Just venting or funnies
i personally would be pissed if my MOH knew about my wedding for over a year and then picked something else to do instead of be a part of your big day. and on top of that evading you to talk about it. being a MOH should be an honor to her that she is the one person that you picked to play such a big role on one of the most important days of your life. if i were you, definetly hunt her down and clarify what's happening. talk this out but based on her behaviour it might be best if you pick someone else. how much help or support is she going to be if you end up sticking with her? she obviously hasn't made this a big priority of hers. as for picking someone else, my FI had to do a coin toss for his best man cuz he couldn't pick. he had both guys there, explained why they're both important to him, how he'd love to have both but can't. then let fate and coin toss decide. i don't think it'll hurt anyone's feelings if you pick a name out of a hat or something like that after explaining they're equally important to you -
i was going to copy this and make it prettier to toss into mine for a spanish english thing Basic Travel Spanish Mexico : TravelYucatan.com and i found this which i'm going to make a little card out of too Currency Converter for 164 Currencies pick your currencies, then go 'convert now', then on the right is a 'travellers cheatsheet'. voila! but do it closer to your date cuz the currency rate is based on what date you do it

Filipino Wedding traditions during beach wedding
calchik replied to MaryS's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
i considered incorporating the traditions at my beach wedding but i'm not. my parents said it was more a religious thing and would be more appropriate in a church wedding. if my parents approved i would have totally done it. i think it'd be a nice way to incorporate our culture. you should go for it if it works with your ceremony. i am having godparents on my invitations for my AHR. we're considering doing the money dance but my FI isn't flipino and i'm not sure all the guests would understand it...or even worse be offended by it -
Great OOT item Prices
calchik replied to lauraandmatt's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
found in an article the canadian stores closing: Edmonton, Mississauga, Ont., and Markham, Ont. -
so i'm on a 10 day diet which i've done before for houseboating cuz i was far too lazy to actually work out to slim up for the bikinis. being quite small (4'11 and less than 100 lbs) i surprisingly lost 4 lbs doing the diet alone without exercising. i paid $50 to get it off a website. i'm on it again to lose my stubborn belly that doesn't seem to want to go away with just exercise. so thought i'd share it with you guys. it's kinda hard and a bit of prep work every day just cuz you gotta bring 4 meals to work. but i found it worked for me. 4shared.com - document sharing - download Beyond_Calories.pdf explanation of diet 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download diet.xls - spreadsheet i made for the diet. the numbers under what day it is are the food groups that the food has to be in - just change the foods to what you want, change the color coding to whichever meals you want, change the times if you like...that was what worked for me based on working 8am-5pm - the listing of foods at the bottom was for my grocery list so update that to match whichever foods at the top hope it helps someone!

thank you! i saw the labels by the sheet website once and then couldn't find it again i also found this: Avery WeatherProof Labels i asked the guy at grand & toy if decals would work on a travel mug and he said he wasn't sure because he doesn't know how the temperature of the mug would do with the stickyness of the decal. it'll stick but it might not stay on

congrats! glad to hear your wedding went well and that jazmin had it all under control. can't wait for the pics and review! this is the aerial view i put in my invitations. use the arrows to see the akumal part of the resort. coba isn't marked separately though so maybe you could figure it out from the pool shapes or someone who's been there before can point it out? Bahia Principe Tulum beach photo tour, aerial images

i'm from calgary too and getting married at the gran bahia principe tulum this forum is super helpful for everything. congrats to your son and happy wedding planning!

i heard the logo might come off the cup with sunscreened hands so i was thinking handles. but now that i've discovered waterproof stickers i think i'll take that route and just order blank travel mugs. sounds like insulated with lids are the way to go. good point about not getting stuff in the drink thanks for helping me making my decision. fans are in, candles are out i'm also adding to my OOT bags blank CDs in bubble envelopes complete with mailing address and stamps so my guest can burn all their trip/ wedding pics on CD and mail it back to us

ooh you're getting married the day i get to the resort! i'm getting married at Tulum in the Gazebo with dinner at Tequila and the outdoor poolside reception with DJ yes the 120 pages is very helpful it's too bad at about page 80 i started to check this thread daily and stopped taking notes. i'll have to go back to make sure i didn't miss anything important. lol as for tickerness, are you picking the one that says PseudoHTML, UBBCode™ or BBCode? then you just gotta paste the whole code thing in your signature

ordered this on the weekend, can't wait to get it from what you guys have been saying. i did buy The Firm's Get Chisled dvd since i was disappointed i couldn't find the jillian michael's one in store. that kicked my ass. i'm interested and excited to see how hard this one will be

sweet sounds like things are rolling along for you. i'm getting legally married here so i don't have to deal with the spanish documents and blood tests. i think it'll just be easier for when i want to change my name. i can recommend my justice of the peace if you decide to take that route i only have a MOH and she's not bitchy but she is awfully umm...indifferent. she's a lawyer so she's busy at the best of times but when i want things done for my wedding she lollygags or puts it off til i bug her again. doesn't seem to think there's any urgency to getting things done for my wedding when it's "SO far away". as best friends as they may be, they might not realize how unsupportive they're being cuz it's a gynormous deal to you but not so much to them in regards to your wedding dress, don't worry about what they think. your style might not be their style so they didn't say anything. what's important is how you feel in it and how much your FI will be blown away when he sees you. you're wearing it for yourself and him and not for them
-
awww...thanks girls. i feel much better knowing i have support out there and that i'm not being excessively crazy and emotional. it's hard cuz none of my friends are going through wedding planning so nobody understands and everyone just assumes it's because i have too much to do or i'm behind schedule. it's more the lack of support than the tasks themselves. i'm taking a break from the wedding planning. a lot of the big things are accomplished so i'm just working on the nice to haves which can wait. i know spending some quality time with FI and not having to discuss the wedding will probably relax us both. it'll all come back why we're doing this, and how much fun it's going to be once we get there. i feel much more optimistic now, all thanks to your kind words i figure i'll ease myself back into it with exciting tasks like finding my AHR dress...i'm thinking bright pink, green or blue and backless. maybe in a few weeks i'll flounce about my home in my full wedding attire, that'll get me reved up to start it again. lol

i have hit my wedding planning wall i just don't want to do it anymore. i don't want to research things on the internet, i don't want to go shopping for the things i know i still need to buy. i don't want to fill out guest and budget spreadsheets, check off things on check lists, finish DIY projects. i just want to stop wedding planning. i'm tired, i'm fed up. i feel alone and i seem to be the only one who cares. my friends ask how the planning is going but when i answer they obviously could care less and were just asking to be polite. my MOH is a lawyer so she barely has any time as it is and doesn't think it's close enough for her to be concerning herself with my wedding. my parents have all of a sudden taken an interest in my wedding: inviting random ppl to mexico, wanting to change the wording of my invites, messing up things i planned months ago. FI has helped me make all the big decisions but now that it's down to the little details his help has stopped. i gave him one big job: plan our honeymoon and he hasn't done anything on it. i am praying this is just a phase, i'll get over and be happy planning my wedding again. i'd hate to go through my last few months of planning only doing it cuz i know i'll regret it if i half ass it. anyone else been here before? please tell me i'll be excited about my wedding again and not feel like it's a burden that nobody cares about except me. so much time, effort and money for one day and i just don't want to do it anymore. i want to get married more than anything in the world, i just don't want to plan it anymore

Glow In Dark Items
calchik replied to Jen_S's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
those things are pretty tough. the plastic is very thick so it would take a lot for it to break so much that it leaks. if anything it might get cracked so it starts glowing before you want it to. keep them straight and then wrap them in a towel? or if you really want to be careful, cling wrap them then a towel. but like i said i highly doubt they'll break enough to leak -
great tips! mine are: 1)shop in stores to try things on but then see if you can find it online my MOH's dress was $300 at a bridal store, we took the brand and style number and searched the internet and it was $160 Wedding Dresses, Prom Dresses, and Designer Wedding Dresses i'm going to do the same with my tiara. shop to find the style i like but then order online. i just can't justify a $100 tiara from a wedding store when i'm going to get to wear it once Eden Jewel 2) shop everywhere and always keep your eye out for what you need even if you're not specifically shopping for wedding stuff. i bought my wedding jewelry at Claire's accessories. $14.50 for my braclet, earrings and toe ring. 3) instead of getting my makeup done at the resort salon i'm going to Mac or Sephora and getting a make over done with my MOH watching. i think they're free but you might have to buy some minimum amount of make up. don't quote me on that cuz i haven't gone yet. lol. then i'll buy the make up they use and have my MOH do my wedding makeup
