  1. I'm sorry that Dreams did not follow through with their promises. It seems they have been doing that alot lately (i.e. the closure). Anyway, I am glad that everything turned out wonderfully overall. You looked beautiful, and your pics turned out nicely despite the unprofessional photographer. Congratulations!
  2. Everything looked absolutely perfect!! I almost started crying when I saw your pics. You looked stunning.
  3. Congratulations and great review!! Everything looked very pretty and well coordinated.
  4. Hey girls, I am having a symbolic ceremony, and getting married at the courthouse at home before I go to RM. I know that Dreams allows you to bring your own minister if you like, but I was wondering if the person performing the ceremony has to be a minister? For instance, I have a girlfriend who is responsible for FH and I meeting, and I would love her to be able to perform the ceremony, however she is not a minister. She doesn't want to go through the hassle of paying to do it online. Does anyone know how this works?
  5. Jody, Thanks for the wonderfully detailed review. I am so excited everything turned out beautifully in the end. You looked gorgeous and the resort seemed to have been very nice. Again the review was awesome, you helped me to write down some things I need to remember to ask about.
  6. Congratulations Alin & Mako!!! I'm glad everything turned out the way you wanted. Can't wait to see pics.
  7. For all of you girls who have already gotten married and brought their own decorations. About how long do you think the aisle runner should be, for a decent aisle. I don't know exactly where you start walking from (I plan to be on the beach next to seaside grill)? Also, I am bringing my own tulle and bows for the chairs. I would really like to know how much tulle would be enough to cover the arbor well (Sort of like Brooke's pics) and how much fabric for the bows should I use. Do you think tulle is okay for the bows too, or should I use a heavier fabric?
  8. Hey Girls, I am so excited Dreams has reopened. I still feel very sorry for all of you that just missed the cut off date of having their weddings at dreams. However, I'm sure everything will be as beautiful as you imagined. Back to planning mode ladies. I was really wondering from people if they plan on carrying their dress on the plane and if you are going to call the airline ahead of time to discuss this, or just show up with your dress? Also, for all of you who are trying to be cost effective like me and are bringing their decorations are you going to have a "receipt" for your items. I read on here many moons ago, about how you cuold only have $200 worth of stuff and that the federal authorities had actually checked for someone's receipt to ensure her stuff was less than that. I could be wrong, but I also think SunBride said girls have even "mastered" their own receipts. And is there anybody out there who used the resort photographer and liked their pics? If so, which one did you use? Do you suggest meeting with the photographer ahead of time?
  9. Congrats Carina!! Can't wait to see pics and read your review. I can't really see the pic under your post well, but it looks like you were a beautiful bride.
  10. Chandra, I had been wondering where you were lately. I am so sorry to hear that your health has not been the best. And even more upset that you are postponing your wedding. I am sure that was a har decison for you and your FI to make, however I truly believe everything happens for a reason. The reason will be revealed to you later I'm sure. But know that your health is most important and true love never fails. By the way, that's the theme for my wedding. "True Love Never Fails..."
  11. Beth, I am really nervous too. I sent out my invites a month and a half ago, and people have already booked reservations and taken time off from work. My gut instinct tells me to ride it out, because at this point what else can I do? I can't afford to book with another hotel and let go of the money I've spent thus far for several reasons. When I booked my date (in March) there were only 5 other dates available for weddings in May at Dreams Tulum back then. This late in the game, I'm sure there will not be many openings. Two, most of the other hotels were not comparable in price, and I don't think it's fair to ask my guests to pay more. Three, some of my guests did not use my TA so I don't know what would happen with their reservations. My TA told me to wait and see what happens after the first of the year. If all else fails, they will have to relocate us. I'm not doing any special trips, dinners, or menus so none of that will matter if we have to relocate at the last minute. I feel that this a much needed vacation for everybody, who the hell cares where they are spending it, as long as it's nice. I have a 2 year old daughter as well, so I need to be somewhere that allows children. I did not pay my deposit yet, and they better not try to pull any crap about that either. The wedding guide I have says a deposit is not necessary and I have e-mails to both Sandra and Landy asking if a deposit was needed and they both replied no. I have a confirmation number and they better honor it. Deposit or not.
  12. Blkatz, Your wedding is 3 days before mine, and I was kind of following your lead with sticking everything out. Are you thinking of switching too? I think it is a little more expensive to go to DPA than DT so that concerns me. My guests are already paying enough as it is.
  13. I've tried to stay optimistic throughout all of this, but now you girls are scaring me. Maybe it's easier for me to say that seeing as how my wedding isn't until May. However, Amesharpe, I was thinking that maybe they responded to you about your wedding because you've really been in their asses lately about responding to you with what's going on. I think they believe that you could potentially be a "bridezilla" with a vengeance if they don't make you happy. So maybe they are being proactive?
  14. Welcome back Brooke! I am so happy for you and Trish, and how well everything turned out. I loved your wedding set-up. It is very similar to what I want for mine. Everything looked gorgeous.
  15. Congratulations Trish! I am so happy everything turned out great for you. I knew that it would. Can't wait to see pics. You were beautiful.
  16. Ashley & Brian May 5, 2009 26 people attending To whom it may concern, Although my wedding is several months away. I am very concerned and frustrated by AM Resorts and its Dreams Chain. The lack of committment to your customers is evidenced by your nonexistent or poor (at best) communication with those who have committed their time and money to patronize your resort. I have already sent invitations and made travel arrangements for my "Dream" wedding which seems to be turning into a nightmare before my very eyes. It is frustrating planning a destination wedding being so far away from the destination itself, but to have something like this happen is disconcerting. I would greatly appreciate if the following questions were answered for all of us who have planned to have weddings at Dreams in the future: 1) Can you give a definitive date for the reopening of dreams tulum? 2) For those brides relocating to another resort, will the prices Dreams Tulum gave be honored? 3) How will the new resort accommodate additional weddings being transferred from Dreams Tulum? I'm sure they have weddings already planned as well. 4) Will there be any compensation or discounts for the inconvenience? 5) How far in advance will dreams notify us if our wedding has to be relocated? 6) How can you assure us that this will not happen again in the future (i.e. six months from now)
  17. To Anna, Brooke, and Trish, God Bless You and keep you. I wish all of his love and goodness on you and your husbands to be. I can't imagine what you must be feeling right now. I think I would have been committed to somebody's hospital at this point. I know it's easier said than done for all of us to say don't worry and don't stress. Try to remember everything wonderful and prescious about your relationship and focus on the fact that you are marrying your soul mate. I think we all are blessed to have found such an amazing forum and to have established a sisterhood, that joins us by the most beautiful thing on earth. LOVE, and the celebration of our committment to love. Sunbride you have such an awesome philosophy on life, and you are an excellent resource for us all. You go above and beyond all of the time to help us out. Where would we all be without you. I feel shameful saying that I'm nervous when my wedding isn't until next year. It is very disconcerting to know that something like this can happen without any warning. I'm sure all of you will be gorgeous brides and I can't wait for you to come back and post your reviews about how wonderfully amazing everything turned out.
  18. Blkatz, We will be at Dreams during the same time. I'm getting married on the 5th. Hope to see you there.
  19. Sunbride, All of the work you have done thus far has been phenomenal. It has been so helpful to all of us who otherwise might be pulling our hair out due to unanswered e-mails and phone calls by Landy & Lizet. I think it would be very selfish of us all to ask you to continue to invest so much valuable time PMing Mods. After all, you are still a newlywed yourself. You should be spending time with your hubby. If you choose not to continue, I think we all would be sad but would understand. You've done so much already. It could never be said enough..... Thank You!
  20. Latinalocany, Thank you so much for posting those pics. They are wonderful, and thanks to your friend for sharing.
  21. Okay, I'm beginning to get a little pissed. There seems to be alot of inconsistencies with what the coordinators have been telling some of us. After having submitted my previous post, I went to the official dreams website and under the wedding planning page they do now have prices for deposits. Paradise$100, Love & Ulitmate $500. Does this mean that all of us who previously confirmed and have a number now have to pay a deposit? Will we lose our confirmation if we don't pay? It's not fair that they continue to change their policies mid year, especially since they are already booked for next year. They need to add a disclaimer clarifying the changes such as "This is for couples booking after _____ or effective _____." Just when you think you've gotten it all figured out and together
  22. Wow, You can really get behind on the latest topics when you miss a day or two of checking this site. Melissa, your invites are really cute. As far as this whole deposit thing goes, I got my confirmation number months ago as well, and also e-mailed Landy asking about a deposit. She said there was no deposit necessary, you pay for your wedding when you arrive. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the wedding guide also states you don't have to pay a deposit. Question ladies, I know that fresh flowers are not allowed to pass through customs. But, I'm looking to cut costs and am considering having silk flowers made. Do you think I will have an issue with "fakes"? Has anyone ever done this?
  23. Welcome Laura! I understand you are wanting a date the first week of may. I would suggest you keep your options open, because my wedding date is May 5, 2009 and when I booked the date this past March there weren't many May dates available. I believe maybe 5 or 6. Not to discourage you, because I would love for you to be DT bride, but keep an open mind, By the way ladies, I recently realized I'm getting married on Cinco de Mayo!!! Has anyone been to DT during this time? What kind of activities do they offer to celebrate. I think it would be awesome if there were fireworks that night that my guests could enjoy. I'm going to try and add my pic soon.
  24. Hello Ladies, Welcome Mano Amor! I understand how frustrated you are. It's difficult enough planning a wedding, and planning a wedding away can be exhausting. A few months ago I had trouble getting a response from Landy as well. I was really upset because I was trying to confirm my date in order to have my invites made. Anyway, I e-mailed her and in the subject line typed "Please RESPOND." The next day Sandra, the previous WC who now works in sales, and Lizet e-mailed me answers to my questions. If I were you I would see if you could contact Lizet or Sandra via phone and e-mail.
  25. Does anybody know of places to get inexpensive colored aisle runners? I would really appreciate any suggestions.
