I got married at DPA May 23, 2009 during the whole Swine Flu epidemic. We went back to celebrate our 1 year anniversary last year and wanted to go back this year but were not able to. DPA is like a home away from home to us. The staff is incredible and they truly take care of you. Best wishes to any brides with their special day coming up! (I was looking for a copy of the boarding pass I made back then for a cousin and found it at BDW )

Hey Ladies! I don't think I ever shared my pro pics given that I didn't even really look at them until about 2-3 weeks ago. I glanced through my prints as soon as I got them and did not see a nice pic of my dad and I together so I just decided to not look at any of them. After looking through them all, still no good pic... Anyways. I uploaded them to facebook and here are the links: Reception at Oceana Bianca Rios's Photos - Reception | Facebook Ceremony/Toast Bianca Rios's Photos - Wedding!!! | Facebook TTD at the resort Bianca Rios's Photos - TTD | Facebook Other details Bianca Rios's Photos - Wedding Detail Pics | Facebook I am also going back to DPA on May 22 for 3 nights and then to DT for 5 nights for our anniversary! Everything is booked and I am super excited to be back there! Our week at DPA last year was amazing!

This guy sounds terrible! I contacted him when I was searching for a photographer and had a weird feeling about the wording in his email so I never responded. Good thing for me I guess. I am waiting for the photos from the photographer that I used, Martha Roque, but I must say, she was a total sweetheart!

The cups at DPA aren't too little... They are probably about 12 oz. Also, someone asked about the little tequila bottles. There is a shop at the marina that is called like "Deli and Liquor" or something similar. I asked there and they said that they did not have any. Not sure if that meant that they didnt carry them or were just OOS. Anyways... At PDC like every shop has them. They range from about $2 to $7 a piece (US dollars of course). Also, if you don't want to leave the resort, I'm sure you could ask one of the employees to buy some for you. I'm not sure if they would get in trouble or anything, but I'm sure they would be willing for a tip. Oly, the preferred club bartender was AWESOME btw... There were too many great employees there. I did not encounter any unpleasant people

If you don't want to invite her then don't. I know I didn't invite my mom's sister, but that is on a whole other level. I don't even consider her family. If you don't invite her, I would just be prepared for any family drama that might occur. Sucks that she's putting your grandfather in the middle. Since your mom doesn't really like her either it might not be so bad.

Best foundation etc for photos
Bianca replied to futurerana's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I used the MUFE HD foundation for my wedding day and it worked great! It did not smudge at all even when I was shedding a tear or two... No way I was going to trust those resort MUA! -
Please note that there are like 3 different types of maracas... Keep this in mind when you compare prices. There are ones that are like hollowed out fruit or squash or something. They go for about $1 a piece in PDC. Then there are ones that I think are a hollowed out squash top and then they have a wooden handle and then there are ones that are made all out of wood. The last ones are the most expensive!

I think our night in the gazebo was a bit rare. The wind really picks up in the evening. Its not that bad in afternoon. I would just go check it out every evening at the time you plan on having your ceremony before the big day. I hope the videographer for my veil flying away. My photog said she missed it. I'm sure they got a chair sliding away.

Here's a mini review... Rehearsal dinner: Jacy said they could set up a long table at Portofino for us, but that was not the case. i went up to the hostess and told her what we wanted and she offered to set up 2 tables for us on the deck, one for 10 and the other for 9. My dad left them like a $25 tip per waiter. We had 2. I would have known sooner about not being able to set up the tables for us, but my voicemail was not working. Ceremony: OMFG IT WAS WINDY!!! No joke. That part was horrible. My veil flew out of my hair. Luckily my sister caught it. There was a chair or two that got blown across the gazebo and we had to cut out the sand ceremony. I did not ask for the speakers but it was set up for us anyways. I asked for the videographer and he was there. There were also like 3 resort photographers plus my photographer, Martha Roque. Everything was nice. I didn't really care about the decorations at this point. they had the tulle wrapped around the poles like we've seen in other photos. There were two floral pieces set up on the front two poles and then one on the table. Thats about it. Reception: This was gorgeous! Oceana was closed that night so we had it there WITH our 3 kids. Jacy said it was not a problem. The set up was amazing. I really need to post photos of this. Jacy did an amazing job. One part that I didn't let bother me was that there were some rude people on their balcony making "sex" noises. A bit immature, but they eventually stopped. let me know if you guys have any questions... I will try to post some pics in the next week or so. OOOOHHHH!! My photographer's husband also owns a transportation company. We got a great rate to take us to the ruins on Friday. We went to Coba and Tulum and had lunch in between. The beach at tulum is something you do NOT want to miss! We paid $320 for two 14 passenger vans that had a cooler with water and beer. Sinal tours was charging $390 I think for the 2 vans without the cooler with drinks.

Everyone is so freaking nice here! I don't think I have seen anyone unpleasent. The restaurants are a bit slow even though they are only at 30% occupancy right now, but the food is great. It doesn't come out piping hot like I think one review said, but I only just realized that because I remember it in a review. I never thought about it at the restaurant bc the food tasted so freaking good! I met with Jacy last night and she is so freaking nice! For everything that I said that I brought, she basically just said leave it together for me to pick up and I will take care of it. I haven't gone into the gift shop yet. I am walking up to the marina today and will keep a look out for little tequilla bottles. When I met with Jacy she showed me all the locations for the reception. Basically what I saw is the beach spot. She said they would open up the bar next to it for our service. She didn not mention an extra cost. The was the deck of the Portofino Restautant. For the wedding, you can only use it if its closed, but they are setting up tables for us for our Rehearsal Dinner there for free. She also shower me the Banquet Hall. It was okay. I will post some pics later.

Hey all! I leave for the airport in about 2 hours. I only slept 2 hours last night and I have not slept yet tonight! I am going to CRASH! Oh well. I am finally getting all my stuff together. I didn't get a chance to do a planning thread. I was really looking forward to that, but I guess I will make one huge review thread when I get back. I just finished packing my stuff. I will take pics of the possible dinner locations. I think thats the most asked question on here? I will read back some. We are taking our laptops and will be in the Preferred Club, so you will be hearing back from me during my week at DPA. I AM SO EXCITED! That's probably why I can't sleep.... Can't wait to tell you guys how awesome it is down there!

I am FREAKING OUT! I leave tommorow and I have so much stuff to do! I was designing my programs last night and when I was almost done freaking Illustrator crashes... Took me like an hour to finish after that. Could have been worse. I finally finished my bouquets and oh yeah... I don't have a veil My ceremony script that I copied and pasted I LOVE, so thats good, but now I have to go get ready for work and function on less than 3 hours of sleep.

I leave for Mexico on the 20th. Wedding is on the 23rd. I think I will be the most recent in the past month or so!
