  1. BVIbride09, That's my dress! Obviously I'm biased, but I love it!!! Have you tried it on? It looks so much prettier in person than on the website. It's lightweight, elegant, not poofy, and has just enough sparkle! It definitely looks very bridal, but not too much for the beach I don't think. I ordered it back in the fall but it won't be in until March. The one in the shop was huge on me so I'm dying to finally try it on in my size!
  2. Welcome to the site! Once we decided on a DW, I went to tripadvisor.com and did a lot of research on resorts, travel costs, and checking out traveler photos. It was very helpful and helped me to narrow down our destination and then narrow down our resort! I had found this site early on in my internet research and it has been a lifesaver! There are so many brides, travel agents, and vendors on here with so much information to share! I won't be making a site visit before our wedding and we are OK with that. Many resorts have an on site wedding coordinator so you might not have to hire an outside one. Good luck with the planning!
  3. This is such a great review! It's very helpful and reassuring for brides like me who aren't able to make a site visit before the wedding! Thanks, Jennifer!

I am thinking I might save it....is this a bad decision? I don't think it's a bad decision at all. I won't be wearing my dress until the Mexico wedding. I might not even dress up for our courthouse wedding because I want to downplay it as much as possible and keep the excitement for the wedding!
  5. I have an email from September 22 from Veronica saying that we could choose two main course meal options for our guests. Well, I emailed her the other day asking when she needed to know our guests meal choices by so I can plan invitation wording and RSVPs. She wrote back saying that we decide when we meet with her before the wedding and that we pick one option for everyone unless someone is a vegetarian or has an allergy. I emailed back asking if something changed recently since I have an email from 9/22 saying that we could choose two options. I haven't heard back yet though. What the heck? Has anyone else gotten any information from her about meal options? It's hard to expect that a large group of people will all like the same meal!
  6. Do you girls ever take your rings off? I've had mine for over 8 months and I just can't get used to wearing it at work (hospital) for some reason so I don't wear it all the time. I also take it off to sleep and shower. Sometimes I feel like I never wear it! LOL.
  7. I know it's hard not to get scared when we hear stuff like that, but the article says it's likely drug related and 9 of the 12 had criminal records. We have gangs, murders, and drugs in the US, too. You have to be smart wherever you go, but I'm not too worried about having my wedding in the Riviera Maya. Usually you travel from the airport to the resort in a bus with other travelers so you are in a group.
  8. I feel like I should be planning something too, but there really isn't anything I can plan until the date gets closer. At least I don't think there is? Some stuff will depend on how many people end up coming. So far no one has booked, but it's still really early! cdc0427, I think you had mentioned before that you felt like October wasn't all that far away, right? May 2010 will definitely give you some extra time to enjoy planning without so much of the timeline stress!
  9. Hi girls! 10 months to go! Just wanted to check in and see how everyone's planning is going! I've got all the major things done (I think). Trip is booked, STDs are out, website is up, dress is purchased, photographer booked, DJ booked. Invitations are next, although I'm still undecided on when they should go out. Don't want to send them too soon or too late, you know? Also working on finding a suit for FI and a dress for my one bridesmaid. How is planning going for the rest of you girls?
  10. Welcome! There's a group of us on here getting married at ERC. Check out the threads in the Riviera Maya section!
  11. Ugh, I'm with you all about the overdone "bridezilla" shows. What ever happened to "A Wedding Story" on TLC? I used to love that show!
  12. Regarding the name on passport thing, just don't change your name legally until you get back from Mexico. That way you won't have to deal with names on your documents not matching. My fiance and I are getting married here legally before our wedding because it's so much easier. Our parents and a few select wedding guests know.
  13. I had mine printed at Staples and then cut them all by hand myself. I used a rotary cutter for the straight edges. Then I bought little corner punches from Michael's for the edges of the boarding passes. I still had to use scissors to cut out that little "triangle" shaped piece at the perforated edge. That part was definitely the most tedious! I made 50. I wonder if you could send your file to someone who makes invitations and pay to have them print and cut them for you?
  14. So pretty! That style looks great on you! It's going to look so elegant!
  15. I see on the website under the Excellence Package where it says: "This package is complimentary when booking an Excellence Club Junior Suite Ocean View category or higher, for a minimum of 7 nights, or with a bridal party of minimum 5 rooms of any category for 7 nights." Does this also apply to the Gold package? That what it sounds like from what you girls are saying but I don't see it anywhere on the website.
  16. I really hope you are able to switch! I'm obviously biased towards ERC ) Many of us ERC brides have noticed a lag in response time lately. It wasn't like that initially so I don't know what's going on. It would just suck to have the date confirmed and then not hear back about details for a couple of weeks when you really don't have the time to spare, you know? If you do hear back, at least it sounds like it shouldn't be too much of a hassle for your guests to just book at a new resort. Keep us updated!

Does anyone know how many people can fit in the private room at Agave? I want to have a nice dinner the night before with everyone. Do you have to pay extra for that? I was told that Agave is the only restaurant that can accommodate a big group if they know in advance. It's all inclusive restaurant so I don's see why it would be extra. However, Veronica told me that Agave is not open on Fridays. My wedding is on a Saturday so that has kind of left us to look for other Welcome Dinner" ideas.
  18. Definitely put your website on the STD. You can post updates there so people can know what's going on instead of waiting to get the invite in the mail.
  19. I am getting married at ERC in October. Lately, the wedding coordinator has been really slow in responding to emails, like a week or two. I just wanted to let you know this since it's really only a matter of weeks until your wedding. The slow response time may make switching your whole wedding pretty stressful as it might be cutting it pretty close to the date, if the date is even available. How many people are coming to your wedding? If it's a small number like 15, then it's probably going to be a lot easier than if you have a larger group like 50. Definitely find out all the facts before you mention the change to anyone! Some of our guests can't even figure out the details of the trip and they have known over a year in advance I hope everything works out for you! Either way, I'm sure your wedding will turn out beautiful. It's Mexico!

  21. I'm so glad I'm not the only one feeling like this! I had tried on a bunch of dresses one day but didn't love any. I went back the next day to re-try some on and found a new one that I loved so I bought it right then! It won't be in until March though so I suppose the fact that I can't try it on again makes me afraid that I won't love it on my wedding day. Like other girls have said, I think it's all the different dresses I see online and in magazines that make me second guess myself. Sometimes I think maybe I should have tried on more dresses at different stores. I have to keep reminding myself that the dresses that I'm usually drawn to in pictures didn't look good on my petite frame and that's why I chose (and loved) the one I bought!
  22. I just booked with Mannia this past Monday and I was nervous about the wire transfer, too. I went to Bank of America, which is my bank, and they told me not to worry about it. The bank account they asked me to wire the money to wasn't a Bank of America account though. It's so good to hear good things about him from past brides! It's one more thing checked off the list...
  23. Loooove it... especially the back!!! And the detail at the waist with just enough sparkle will be so flattering!
  24. Hi Kelly! Good luck with planning! It's more fun planning the details once the date is set! My FI and I are planning to have a larger group at our wedding also. We sent out save the dates to 75 people, but ideally would like 35-40ish. I haven't heard of anyone on the forum with that many guests at ERC so we're hoping for the best! Really though, how can you go wrong with fun people, great weather, a beautiful beach, and tropical drinks?
