  1. I voted for the first one (really pretty!), but I actually really like the first and last dress you posted under the "runner up" section!
  2. White gold is not just yellow gold that has been rhodium plated. It is an alloy of yellow gold with a whiter metal like nickel or palladium. White gold does still have a yellow tinge to it which is why it needs to be rhodium plated. Your mom's yellow gold ring that's been rhodium plated will probably turn more yellow than your e-ring as time goes on, but re-dipping them more often should take care of that. I think it's such a great thing to wear your mom's wedding ring!
  3. Speaking of the New England weather, I just walked to the gym and it's closed due to the snowstorm we had today. I guess Wii Sports will have to do for tonight!
  4. Wii Fit! We just got a Wii for Christmas and I'm dying to get it! Do you girls who have been using it feel like it gives you a good enough workout to "count"? Reading about all you girls and your workouts is great motivation! My dress just came in so I have 9 months to get my butt in gear for the big day! I love to run outside and walk for hours when it's warm in the summer. Unfortunately, I live in Boston and our cold, snowy winters make most of us want to eat comfort foods and hibernate. I hate the gym but I'm trying to keep myself motivated!
  5. I think it would be fine to send out Save the Dates with just April 2010 on them just to give people a heads up. April 2010 really isn't that far away! My wedding is October of this year. At the end of this past July (15 months prior), I had a date confirmed so I started letting my family and friends know by word of mouth and email. I wanted them to know as much in advance as possible. I sent out Save the Dates in November (11 months before). Most people have been able to give me a verbal yes, no, or maybe. You might be able to give your TA and resort a general idea even without sending invites, even if it's a wide range like 30-50.
  6. The slow responses are definitely the norm with Veronica. It's kind of frustrating when you are excited and anxious for answers, but she does eventually get back to you after a week or so.

Double wedding, what a cool idea! Congrats on officially setting a date!
  9. What exactly are you worried about? Not having the shop that you bought the dress from do your alterations? Usually when places say that alterations are included in the price of the gown, it's probably because they've just raised the prices on all their gowns. Finding the perfect dress is most important, AND you saved $500! Now you just have to search for a good seamstress elsewhere. When I was dress shopping, I wouldn't tolerate rude, pushy sales people. If they seemed snotty, I just left without trying anything on because I am very intimidated by people like that. The store I bought from was sooo nice and I felt really at ease there, plus I liked their selection. They do alterations there, but if they didn't, I would still buy there and worry about finding a good seamstress later.
  10. It's not tacky. And besides, it's just a STD anyway. People get the same magnet or postcard STDs all the time for weddings... it's nice to get something different and original! I'm sure people will think it's cute!
  11. Those came out great! You're FI is definitely a keeper... I wish my FI would work on DIY stuff with me! lol.
  12. I designed my boarding pass STDs and had them printed at Staples on metallic ivory cardstock. They came out great! It was like $1.30 or something per sheet, but there were 3 boarding passes on one sheet. For the boarding pass holder, I ordered the pink azalea cardstock from Card Stock, Vellum Paper, Envelopes, Metallic Cardstock, Invitation Cards Specialty Wedding Stationery - Paperandmore.com. They were great to order from and the quality is great.

    Newbie here.

    congratulations and welcome!
  14. Choosing a date and location are half the battle! You're off to a good start! Enjoy your engagement and wedding planning because May 2010 will be here before you know it! Congratulations!
  15. A girl at my work got married at Iberostar Tucan last year and loved it. She recommended it when I first started on my DW location search. Your wedding is going to be amazing!
  16. I'm 5'1 and small framed. I've also been wondering which length veil will maximize my "vertical appearance". My dress is beaded lace, strapless, slim A-line. I am thinking of wearing a simple, one-layered, waist-length veil. My mom on the other hand loves the one-layer, cathedral length look because it looks elegant and you can still see all the detail of the back of the dress through the veil. I suppose it could have an elongated effect with the right dress. I pick my dress up on Saturday so I can finally try different veils on with my real dress!
  17. Another vote for Jeweler's Mutual here. I had done some research on different companies but went with Jeweler's Mutual because it was convenient and affordable. It took me a few minutes to sign up online and I think it was like $150 a year, no deductible. Also, I haven't had to make a claim, but the policy seems pretty straight forward about what it covers. I've been wondering if we should add our wedding bands when we get them. At what price is it worth getting insurance for?
