She's also in charge of sending them all our legal documents for the wedding. She's in charge of contacting our guests to remind them its time to pay up, mail out airline tickets.... the list goes on. $100 well worth it in my mind. I havent had to lift a finger. Except to sign credit card bills.
  2. Clean and simple. I likey. Orange and pink together never crossed my mind, but those 2 colours the more I see, the more I like. Good choice.
  3. Ditto. TA is the way. We had to book 5 rooms (10 people) to secure our group rate thru Signature vacations - $1850 double to Riu Palace TB. Then about a month ago Signature decided to drop all their flights to Jamaica in April. Imagine my surprise, considering all my invites had gone out and my trip/wedding had all been booked -- for April!! TA came through and negotiated our original group rates with Sunquest instead. Phew. I'd have an aneurysm if I had to deal with that on my own.
  4. Welcome, and yeah picking your destination/resort is the hardest part. Once that's done, the fun stuff begins. Happy planning! *cough* go with Jamaica *cough*
  5. Wow! Everything is gorgeous! Your dress is awesome! I've never seen pics of Evita's before, very nice! I cant wait to get married in Jamaica!
  6. I love, love, love my invites. However, they were a waste of money, because the people that are actually coming had already booked their trips and barely any of the people I sent invites to have sent back their reply cards - which Im taking very personally and I know I shouldnt.
  7. I put "yes, I can't wait" and "no, I can't make it" on my RSVP's... I still can't convince people to go OR to put the bloody things in the mailbox.

    Riu Negril Bride

Welcome to another Negril bride. We're getting married next door at Tropical Bay in April!
  9. Oh yeah, BM is chosen. He's even chosen a backup. 1st BM is trying to sell their house and is being laid off in November and 2nd BM is getting a job at Toyota and may not be able to get the time off... Ugh. I told him we should of just eloped, but nooo. And yes, the "gongshow", better be exactly that. Hehehe, good luck with your bookings! You're getting close to take-off time!
  10. Candy buffet's are awesome! Whoever thought that up needs a medal. Now I have a craving for cake and Tootsie rolls...

  12. If you want one, then let her do all the dirty work and planning. If you dont want one, just say "thanks, but no thanks." I let my family, MoH know that, in no uncertain terms that there will be no shower for me - unless it resembles more of a BBQ/co-ed drinking party. However, my FI's brother's girlfriend, who Im sure is my FMIL's secret agent and drives me crazy asked the other day if I would allow a shower and of course I said no. His side of the family is crazy - hehe. Bottom line - do what you want, not what other people want or think you should do.

I usually have to put gel insoles in all my heel-type shoes unless they're kitten heels. Hey, Im used to wearing running shoes or Crocs all day at work. Im not much help, b/c Im wearing flip flops to my wedding. But try the insoles, they might just do the trick!
  14. Awesome! Love the pink and green. Im partial to the hibiscus too, because Ive got one on my invites!
  15. My wedding isn't even until April and apparently my TA said the resort is booked solid as well. April! Holy crap! As if the place is booked up 6 months ahead of time! Eeep. Same deal, we're flying out of Pearson. I warned people that last minutes weren't a good idea. Gah.. I've got no one going to my wedding, because everyone's waiting for a "deal" - makes me sad and pissed! At least you're getting your MoH there Chicklet - none of FI's friends booked yet, so he doesn't have a BM ... might have to be his Dad. Heh.
  16. Hi there, welcome and congrats from a fellow Jamaican bride!

    Jamaica wedding

Yay for another Jamaican bride! Congrats and happy planning!
  19. Welcome and congratulations from another April Jamaican bride! Lots of info on the forum!
  20. The bouquet with different coloured roses is a great idea - too bad I've already ordered my bouquet! I think the memory frames is a great idea though. I had planned on bringing 2 big framed pics of my Dad and Grampa and just having pics of me holding the frames - I saw a brides pictures who had done that and thought it was a good idea. Little memory frames are easier to pack though!!
  21. Cool idea for a shower. Different and I like it. I've already told my family/friends that I did not want a shower. The whole thought of sitting around with a bunch of women playing toilet paper wedding dress and making me a hat with ribbons, just freaks me right out! No offense meant to anyone that has had that kind of shower or is planning on that kind of shower - it is just doesnt fit with my personality at all. I would totally be game for your type of family/friends/co-ed casual shower. Looks like it was a lot of fun - other than having a fever all day.. ugh.
  22. We'll sleep in the same room the night before, but after breakie on our wedding day, he's being banished until the ceremony!
  23. I could be mistaken, but I think I've read in other threads that you get a choice b/w vanilla, chocolate or rum cake. Don't quote me on that though! Probably not as yummy as an outside bakery, either.
