  1. People are jerks. One of my friends said she couldnt make it to my wedding in Jamaica b/c of the money situation, but a week after my wedding she flew to Ireland for 2 weeks.... WTF? The majority of my friends had equally lame excuses or flat out ignored me, when it came to the wedding. Fair weather friends -- are not my friends any longer. Sorry you have to deal with it too, Grace.

Grrrrrrrrrr... Yeah. Im kinda tired of this question as well. Im REALLY tired of hearing it from my MIL. My Mom has never once asked. My MIL asks everytime she sees us now. We told her last time, we werent sure if we even wanted kids. That didnt go over well. Why is it a crime against humanity if we dont have kids?
  3. My MIL brought a hand-held steamer, but we didnt need it. Its so friggin humid down there. Trust me, I shoved and crumpled up my dress in a tiny overhead compartment on the plane and it had no wrinkles after hanging it up in our room's closet. No problem, mon.
  4. We used "sand between the toes elegant" ... I have no idea what that means, but it sounded kinda cool
  5. I didnt do it. Im still married... haha. Both my mother and MIL were appalled that I didnt do it. Not sure why, they both know Im anything BUT traditional.
  6. Kudos to your response, Steph. Maybe he can learn a little professionalism from you! I like how he tried to backpedal... What an arse.

Thanks in advance Simon Young Simon -- feel free to check out my RPTB review. We had a good time at our reception. The service was great (from what I remember of it - lol) We only had 9 guests with us, so it was semi-private. There was another bridal party at the Steakhouse that night, but they weren't too close by and I dont honestly remember seeing them during our dinner. Keneika would decorate the tables for you Im sure, if you brought extra decorations with you. We didn't have any extras. The tables were set up how they would be for any normal night. We were fine with it.
  8. Good points MarieSam -- btw love your siggy pic. Too cute! Slander? LOL. Nice try buddy. He dug his own hole. How many brides are on this forum? Teehee.

I still cant believe this guy. Good luck with your photog search - at least you know which one you WONT be choosing!
  10. Im really of no help, except that the steakhouse is right beside the pool. Not a clue about the dance floor. You'd have to email Keneika on that one! The beach reception did look pretty chic though!
  11. Im obviously partial to Jamaica, since we got married there. We chose Jamaica over DR or Cuba, mostly based on ease of paperwork. No need to have documents translated into Spanish and then back into English when you get married in Jamaica. My Mom did a guided hiking tour of Cuba a few years back and said the country was amazing. They didnt stay anywhere near any of the big AI resorts though. She said she was treated like family by the locals in Cuba. I figure go with your gut on this one. There's pros and cons to both islands. Good luck!

Then I realized, stop feeling guilty, this is your time to be excited and happy... screw anyone who gets pissy about all the wedding talk.
  13. Wow. What a dick. What does it matter if your wedding is a "shoe-string" budget or not. Not to mention the question of your "attractiveness" --- what kind of business person conducts themselves like that?
  14. Happy Anniversary Abbie, hope your day is great!

  16. We had the same situation last summer. It was a bit hairy trying to co-ordinate 10 people to put down deposits in I think we had 2 days or something silly. We just had our family (the one's we knew were absolutely going) throw down deposits to get the good group rate. I think that was the most stressfull part of my wedding planning. Hah. Good luck with your booking!
  17. That blows. We werent exactly happy with our video either, but it doesnt sound nearly as wrecked as yours. Ours is just cheesy - haha. Good to hear you got a quick response and he's willing to help you out. Hope it turns out better for you!
  18. Bring a large travel mug for big drinks and subsequently you'll need some Ibuprofen or Tylenol. Pick your poison. Oh and dont forget the sunscreen! Have fun, chill out and congrats!
  19. Your pictures are awesome! Makes me want to go to that resort! Congrats!
  20. The first time we talked on the phone. Nice voice, same demented sense of humour and sarcasm for miles. I knew he was the one for me! LOL PS. He wore decent shoes on our first date, so that sealed the deal. Hahaha
