  1. After all this planning and a pre-trip I have decided to change my location to the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach! Just personal preferences. The Riu is still a very nice property and the weddings looked beautiful, just not for me!
  2. Price has been an issue for me as well. I have guests with all different budgets. My only suggestion is to have the ones who have a bit tighter budget wait a bit to book. If they are good at watching the prices on the different Tour Operator Websites, they will be able to get a better deal if they wait a bit. Obviously there is always a risk of doing this, but if your resort is a bit bigger, chances are it won't completely fill up, the flight is more likely to fill up first. Just an option! Good Luck!
  3. Just got back this morning from the RIU NEGRIL. RE: WEDDINGAWAY I will try my best answer your questions about SHADOWS, the building is open air concept, serves as the lunch buffet during the day, and the Steak house at night. As you know the dining area is two levels, with three different sets of stairs leading upstairs, no wheelchair access. I did eat there one night and they only section a small corner in the lower area of it for the "steak house" so if you did have it on the main floor it would still be quite private, aside from the fact that everyone would be sharing the salad bar buffet. I did see a reception on the beach, held in a tent. Looked really nice but I know you have to pay extra for this. I also have a copy of the resort map. Basically there are four U-Shaped buildings for lodging, #4 is furthest from the lobby but honestly takes about 5 minutes to walk to, The lobby is in the middle, pools located directly in front (1 pool has a swim up bar, the other a volley ball net). The other end of the resort has the breakfast/dinner buffet and the two other a la carte restaurants. I will scan the resort map if you would like.
  4. Nice!!!! One question for you, when did you book your wedding for your April departure. I am also in the TO area and was wondering what kind of price you got. I know you can reserve your actual wedding date on the Riu Wedding website, but when did you actually book with you TA?
  5. April 3-10!!! I will keep an eye out for you on your wedding day! Don't worry I won't be one of those photo ruiners in a bikini or speedo!!
  6. Hi Ladies I have decided to head down to the Riu Negril to do some first hand research. It just so happened that girls from work had booked vacation there and I thought what better way to answer my questions than to go too!!! If anyone wants anything cleared up send me your requests and I will do my best to find out for you!!!
  7. Hello I have just recently decided on booking my DW at the RIU NEGRIL, most likely March 2012. I am getting excited for all the planning I get to do!!! Just a few questions!!! ~ Does anyone have pics of the bouquets that are available? ~I have noticed that the wedding packages specify a certain number of guests, if I have more people booked how to they accommodate that, are there extra costs, is there a maximum? ~Any recommendations on photographers, has anyone used the resort photographer? Outside photographers? ~Any recent price lists for extras, upgrades Thanks so Much!!!!!!!
  8. Thanks for the pictures!!! I think I have decided on The Riu Negril!!!!!!!
  9. I have been to the Riu Ocho Rios 2 times and absolutely loved it. The only thing that is stopping me from getting married there is that we really want to try out Negril. Most of the rooms there are ocean view. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!!
  10. I am just starting to plan my destination wedding for Jan. 2012. Jamaica is my destination of choice and I would love to go to a resort in Negril. I have read many reviews and seen some pictures of RIU NEGRIL. Any advice??? My biggest concern with this resort is the beach. People have said it is comparable to a lake. I always pictured nice white sand and blue water I would really like to book soon but am hesitant Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance!
  11. Just starting to plan my DW in Jamaica. I have always pictured walking down the isle on top of white sand with crystal clear blue water in the background. Just can't wait to get started!!! Any suggestions on Resorts that meet this criteria: - Turquoise water/white sand (for wedding pics) -$1400-1700 -4+ Star I have been really looking into Riu Negril, Iberostar Rose Hall Beach and Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
