  1. When we were there there was only one side. I mean its so big that there were two pools and everything but you couldnt really tell the difference with the two sides. Sorry that probably dosent help.
  2. We just told our wedding planner from the beggining. They really didnt have a problem with it at all. We copied all the emails she sent us incase there was a problem when we got there. We bought him a day pass. As for a honeymoon spot. It was perfect for us at the time. It is now half adults only and half kids allowed. So I dont know how that would be for a romantic honeymoon now.
  3. We gave everyone a list of the rooms our guests were staying in. It was a page in thier welcome book. That way everyone knew where to get a hold of people. The room phones call room to room. Also the front desk will connect you to any room if you tell them the name.
  4. You should get a free reservation for up to 30 people with your wedding package. It was in our package in Feb. We didnt use it because we thought our guests would get in too late and not be hungry the day they arrived. That did not end up being the case. When they arrived we called all the resturants and asked them if the could accomidate our group. We have 23 people. The italian restuarant was able to fit us in.
  5. We had our reception from 6-10:30. Then after that we went to the disco till like 3. The disco is a lot of fun if there are people there. Some days it was busy and some days it wasnt. The wedding day it was packed so it was a lot of fun.
  6. Ya Im happy that we made it there right before they changed it.
  7. Our colors where blue and orange as well. Our wedding coordinator told us it would probably be too windy for rose petals. She didnt think they would stay down. We thought about taking out the red runner but in the end we wanted something to make an aisle and the red one was the only choice.
  8. There is no extra cost to set up anything. The tiki torches came in sets of ten. We bought 20 to make a complete circle around the party. They have everything to you need to use your ipod. They even have someone to run the equipment. There are several inlets so im not sure which one you have. There are bathrooms everywhere so that shouldnt be an issue. It did get a little cold but really the only people who noticed where my grandma and her sisters. But I did get married in Feb. so it is alittle colder then too.
  9. Thats what I ended up doing. I was tired of looking for a real album. Thank you.
  10. Does anyone know where I can find a photo album that holds 6x8 photos? My photographer sent me 150 6x8 pictures but I cant find a photo album that will hold them. Thanks!!!!
  11. They set up everything for us. We only had a mosquito problem one night when we went to playa del carmen. There were absolutley no bugs at the reception.
  12. Jena0609: We had our reception by one of the coves on the north side. We chose not to do the mundaca rooftop becuase it was just way too big. I loved our location. We were right on the ocean and we were away from everything so it felt like it was just us. Below is a picture of the location during the day and at night. Its kind of hard to see at night.
  13. Jena0609: The hair and make up take 45 min each. I started at 1:30 and was done at 3:00 for a 4:00 ceremony. The manicure and pedicure were nice. I didnt get mine done before we left. I just waited for that one. I think that the colored napkins were $5 each and a colored table runner is $5 each as well. Im not sure about actual table cloths.
  14. I told my wedding coordinator from the beggining. We paid for the day pass. There was never an issue. I asked her several times and printed out her response each time just incase. She was really nice about it and didnt care at all. I hope that helps.
  15. soccergirl3: I will clean out my inbox if you need to ask me anything else. He cost 850 for 6 hours of time. He took about 400+ photos. He mailed us 150 6x8 photos. And he gave us a dvd with the remaining photos so we can make other copies. I just told our wedding planner from the beggining that we had an outside photographer. I printed out everytime she said it was ok. I asked her a couple times to make sure. He was great. I highly recommened him.
  16. jenna0609: We packed our OOT items in with our lugauge. We had a ton of luguage. You can bring anything you want with you. They will set it up for you. Our welcome book: Welcome letter Map of the grounds A english to spanish trasnlator A money conversion chart a breakdown of the restuarants a itinerary and a list of the guests with thier room number and thier length of stay I will try and take pictures of the inside pages of the welcome book. our meeting took about 2-3 hours but really all the time was worth it. we also brought almost everything with us and I had drawings and stuff of what I wanted. So most of the time was spent making sure she knew how I wanted everything. We did the paradise snorkeling tour. It was a lot of fun. We didnt participate in any of the optional activities after the snorkeling though. The people in our group that did loved them. Some people got massages, went horseback riding, and went jet skiing. Some of our guests went to the myan ruins. They really enjoyed that. ddinnyyeel: Our cake cost $210 We had pictures of everything we wanted so I didnt really look at any of the things she sent me. So I cant really tell you if they were all included. Im sorry.
  17. I just collected them at the wedding. I had a table set out with them laid out. That way people could pick the one they wanted. Most people wrote well wishes on the back. Some wrote advice. They are really nice.
  18. we got the large wedding package. i think it was the deluxe package.
  19. On the main road there are "speed bumps" that are so big cars have to go less than 5 miles an hour over them or our car will get all messed up. At these speed bumps there are a handfull of military with machine guns and the whole nine yards. You drive past these anywhere you go. I guess they are looking for young kids driving beat up cars. They are looking for cocaine dealers. The night we went to our rehearsal dinner in Playa del Carmen there was a massive shooting at the stop we went by everyday and went by twice that day. It was in the news here. The police chief was shot while he was patroling this stop. Two people pulled up in the middle of the day and shot him in the middle of the street. The people who shot him where part of the police. During our wedding three military men with machine guns and everything walked right in front of us. They patrol the coast now everyday. It was kind of scary. You can definatley see that it is a different country and you are not at home. I wouldnt say that I felt unsafe but I definatly missed the comfort of home alittle. These people live in a place where the military and police arent on the same page, add in the drug dealers and also the fact that most of the law enforcement are "dirty". You will feel alittle uneasy when you see these things though. The good thing is that the resorts for the most part are so well gaurded that you can stay there the whole time if you want. There is my military story for our wedding.
  20. I bought a postcard for every person at the wedding. I bought the post cards down there for $1 each. everyone signed the backs and then I will put them in a scrapbook later. This way I will be able to have all the memories from the postcards and have thier words of advice.
  21. my best advice would be to search for a scrapbook store in your area. Stores that are devoted only to scrapbooking tend to have the best albums. I hope that helps. There is a company called KOLO. They are very nice and durable.
  22. Hi everyone, Im sorry this took so long but I posted my review under wedding reviews. I hope it helps. Please let me know if you have any other quesetions. Im sure I left things out. I tried to answer most of it. I also have a lot of pictures so if there is something you want to see let me know.
  23. I hope my review helped some people. Please pm me if you have any more questions. Im sure I left some things out. I also have more pictures of the grounds so if you want those let me know.
  24. our table set up: After dinner we cut the cake. The cake was amazing. I had sent her a picture of the cake I wanted and they made it exactly right. The bottom layer was chocolate, the middle layer was cheesecake, and the top was vanilla. I only tired the chocolate but everyone who tried to other flavors loved them too. Our cake table was set up next to our guestbook table. I had everyone sign postcards that I had bought while I was down there. I put them in a photo album that you can see the front and back of the postcards. After the cake we did the dances with my dad and his mom and our first dance. We then did the garter toss and bouquet toss. Then we danced the rest of the night. Our reception was from 6-10 but we stayed till about 10:30 becuase no one said anything. The staff was amazing. They seemed to have fun as well. Everything about the reception and the wedding was amazing. We went to the disco after the wedding were we continued to dance till about 1 or 2 Im not really sure. Here is the reception location before: and after ( the recepation is up above us): We stayed a week after the wedding. We actually had reservations to move to Sun Palace for the week but we loved it so much there we decided to stay there. For our honeymoon package we got a bottle of champange and t-shirts that say honeymooners on them. We also a reservation with a special menu at the mexican resturant(Shawns favorite). Make sure you ask for the mayan coffee for desert here. We went on the paradise snorkeling tour the day after the wedding with those guests who werent too hung over. That was a lot of fun I highly suggest it. The rest of the days were spent by the pool mostly. We went to playa del carmen a couple times. I loved it there. There are nightly activites at the hotel that are fun. Some of them are shows or casino nights. They are all entertaining.
  25. I dont have a picture of the programs right now they are on my moms camera. I will post them later. I had them done from dear emma stationary on esty. She did an amazing job. She did the programs, the menus, the placecards, the fan attachments, and the guestbook sign. She was great to work with and her work was beautiful. I will get you pictures. The mexican band played while my bridesmaids walked down the aisle. The just played romantic music. It was very pretty. Everyone loved them. I walked down to Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole's version of Somewhere over the rainbow. We used an ipod hook up for that. The officiant who performed the ceramony was great. He spoke good enough english so that everyone could hear him and understand him. I added two readings in the ceremony that my sister and brother read. We also read our own vowels. You are allowed to add anything you want as long as you have someone to read them. He wont. The ceremony was beautiful. We did the sand ceremony. I made one myself from vases I bought at Micheals. The sand was from Micheals too. Make sure if you are traveling with sand that it is still in the wrapper. They told me that I would not have been able to take them on the plane if they were opened. Just a little F.Y.I. Below is a picture of our sand ceremony set. I put our ribons around it and hot glued a little starfish. thats the best picture I have of it right now. I will get a better one from my mom. After the ceremony the mexican band will play a song out side of the gazebo while everyone drinks champange. this was the military that walked right by our reception (kind of a long story): We took pictures after the ceremony. There was a resort photographer that was part of our package. His photos were ok. They werent anything great. Im glad we hired an outside photographer. They also had a video as part of the package. The video is really nice. They added the music that we suggested. If I figure out how to upload the video I will put it on you-tube. Its nice because you can hear the whole ceremony. After pictures we went to our private reception. Our coordinator did a great job with this. The location we picked was right on the ocean. We lined the whole thing with tiki tourches to make a big circle. Our main table was set up down the middle with dancing room on both sides of the table. There was a very large fully stocked bar on the one side. At the back there was the buffet line. We chose the carribean buffet with a couple little modifications. They were really good about making it perfect. The food was absolutley amazing. Everyone raved that it was some of the best food they had ever had. I agreeded with everyone. We brought our own music via an I touch. They had a dj that worked the machine. My brother was our mc because mc's cost a lot of money. He did a great job and kept everyone entertained the whole night. During dinner we had a play list that just played through that played slower songs and songs everyone knew
