  1. Our pro pics: Jennifer & Dave ceremony - Kantenah Beach reception - Portofino
  2. Hi, I don't have my reception pictures from the photographer yet. I have everything up to the end of the ceremony. Once I get them all, I'll post them. We had our reception in Portofino. We were on the patio section across the walkway/hall on the lake. We had that section to ourselves. The chairs were wrought iron, so not standard banquet type chairs. I'll see if any of the pictures show what the chairs looked like. I've heard they usually put weddings on the patio section, but I don't know if group size effects where you sit. I would ask Erika/Rocio about that to confirm. We had 17 people total, but there would be room for more, I just don't know how many more. Jennifer
  3. Hello, I will be posting pictures soon. I'm just waiting for one last batch from our photographer. I have everything from getting ready up to the end of the ceremony. The river that runs around the resort runs around the White Sands/Riviera section. I didn't notice it being swampy. It probably depends on the time of year that you are there and the water levels. We spent most of our time on the Colonial/Kantenah side. The property is beautiful, but huge. We loved it, but we love walking. I didn't even ride the train until at least 4 days into the trip. We didn't have any issues with the food. Our best meal was at La Adelita (Mexican) - Punta Emilia was also good.
  4. Hello, I am surprised that they couldn't book a date as well. However, if they are waiting for a schedule from City Hall, they are likely waiting to confirm the availability of a judge to marry you. We didn't even try booking our January wedding until June, so I don't know if this is common or not. We got married there in January with a group of 17, so we went with one of the a la carte options for dinner (Portofino) and then went to Grand Azul for drinks/dancing (no one else had rented it out for their event - it wasn't private, but it didn't cost anything extra either). You do pay $20.00 per head for more than 8 people (extra chairs, service staff in restaurant, larger cake, etc). We chose to get married on the Kantenah beach. However, they also have 2 gazebo options available - one on/near the beach and one in the jungle. I concur with Hannah about checking out the other threads and Palladium addict site. I'll be posting pictures soon from our wedding. We have about half of them so far and are just waiting for the last batch from the photographer. Good luck with your decision making/planning. Jennifer
  5. I had my hair 1/2 up. It was windy for our wedding, but we just took our pictures in such a way that the wind blew the hair in the right direction. Do whatever you are comfortable with. Your photographer will work with you to make you look good.
  6. Le Chateau carries linen in their summer line. You might be able to find something there when the summer lines come out in the stores. Good luck!
  7. Congrats and welcome! Check out the Grand Palladium. It's family friendly and we had a gorgeous ceremony on the beach.
  8. Hello, I just got married at The Grand Palladium and went through this. Ask either Erika or Rocio about this when you are down there. You can either take it to a Mexican consulate at home to get done, or arrange for the resort to handle it for you. It takes about a month and costs 700 pesos if you do it through the resort - they will courier it to you when it is done. Rocio walked us through the process the day after our wedding. Good luck and have fun at your wedding! Jennifer
  9. Great find. My dress was also a white BM dress from the Venus line.
  10. We got my husband's pants at a Tip Top Taylor at the end of summer. We got our BM pants at The Bay. We got the shirts at Tommy Bahama. I know you're in Sydney, but there are options out there. If you want to try on first and not buy on-line, I would suggest men's shops or department stores. Good Luck!
  11. Glad you had a successful scouting trip. Erika was our wedding coordinator and was wonderful to work with. Rocio was also great, but we only spoke with her the day after the wedding, although both of them were there for our ceremony making sure everything was perfect. We went with the Kantenah beach location because we really wanted to get married barefoot in the sand. We're glad we chose that. Go with what your heart is set on. The gazebo is beautiful. We took some pictures there later on. We spent most of our time hanging out at Gran Azul as it was the central bar to all of our guests rooms. Gran Azul and La Laguna are pretty much the same (we didn't notice a difference between them). We had our reception dinner at Portofino (group of 17) and then all headed back to Gran Azul, so people would be closer to their rooms when they decided they were done for the night. When we booked, we booked into the Colonial, but when we checked in, all our guests, except for 3 had rooms in the Kantenah. We had a Mayan Suite, our guests had Jr. Suites. I highly recommend the Mayan Suite. Be careful of the suites by the White Sands. Everytime we were over there, it smelled a little like sewage. We also found it great to have the whole group in the one side (Colonial/Kantenah) so it made meeting up at the bar and pool easier. We all mostly hung out on that side of the resort, but made our way over to the other side when we wanted to eat at the restaurants on the other. Yes, all the rooms have iPod docking stations/alarm clock combos. All of our guests loved the GP. I'm sure yours will too. There was something for everyone. We loved the beach and all the greenery. I also loved all the palapas so you could have as much sun or shade as you wanted on the beach or at the pool. Jen
  12. Hello, I just got married at the GP 3 weeks ago. Let me know if you have any questions. GoCubs! How was your scouting trip to the GP? Cheers, Jennifer
  13. On my wedding day, there were 3 weddings (12pm, 2pm, and 4pm - mine). Each bride had their reception dinner in a different a la carte restaurant. I only ran into one of the other brides at the bar where both groups ended up for dancing/drinking after about 9pm. I have no clue what the 3rd one did. It helps that we had a HUGE resort. We all did our own thing and it was fine. Jennifer
  14. We flew WestJet to Mexico and they didn't have a closet, which we knew in advance and were told that we could put it in an overhead bin. Luckily the flight attendants were wonderful and we put it in the bin where they kept the blankets and pillows. Good luck, Jen
  15. We had 4 songs - 2 for the processional (bridal party, then me), 1 for the document signing, and 1 for the recessional.
  16. Hi Ben, I just got married at the GP 11 days ago. All the GP hotels are part of one larger resort, so your guests have flexibility in where they stay and the price point, but have access to all or almost all of all facilities. We booked in Colonial, but ended up staying in Kantenah (no difference in price), got married on the Kantenah beach and did the reception dinner in White Sands. They only area that is "off limits" unless you are staying there is the Royal Suites in the Riviera section. If you want any further info, let me know. Good luck with your decision making. Jennifer
  17. Well, we got back late last night. Our wedding was wonderful and amazing. I don't have any pics to show yet as I need to get them from our guests and photographer. Everyone's pics so far look wonderful. I'll post a review sometime in the next week or so. Jen

  19. Hello everyone, We just got back last night from our Mexico wedding trip. The wedding at The Grand Palladium was better than I ever could have imagined. Please be patient with Erika/Rocio. They were doing up to 3 weddings a day while we were there and also moving offices (from the Colonial lobby to the White Sands section by the boats), so they were pretty busy. However, with that being said, they gave us all the personal attention that we needed while down there. The weddings e-mail address provided above is the correct one. If you haven't heard back from them, I would suggest trying again, as it's possible that some stuff got lost in the shuffle. We had a group of 17 including us. We had our ceremony at the Kantenah beach location (just steps from our Mayan suite) and the reception dinner in Portofino (on the private balcony area). It looks like each of the a la carte restaurants has a section that is kind of separate that they set up for groups. After dinner, we went to Grand Azul to dance. We went back to that side of the resort as that's where we were all staying. La Laguna was the same idea on the other side, but we didn't hang out there much. We had a first dance and the father/daughter dance there (not planned at all). They had live music pretty much every night. Some nights there were wedding parties in there, but none had actually rented it out when we were there. It was a free for all. There were a couple of nights where 2 wedding groups would be in there. It was quite fun. Let me know if anyone has specific questions. Cheers, Jen

Do you have a uniglobe travel there? They usually have a destination wedding section.
  22. We are paying about $1850 pp out of Victoria for January 2009 to the resort. I thought April was a "higher season" than January (I could be wrong), so that price sounds about right, but check some of the on-line travel sites (sell off vacations, flight centre, expedia, escapes, etc.) to see what it would cost to book through them. It will give you an idea if your TA is on track with the pricing. Good luck!
