You're all giving such great advice and I'm in need of it too! I have a similar situation - my parents divorced when I was very young and my Mum remarried when I was 8, but my Mum and I have SUCH a strong relationship ... I love my step-father like a father, even though I've never called him Dad, but my Mum and I have such a strong bond. My real father won't be at the wedding, he passed away a few years ago, but I was having issues with who would walk me down the aisle... I told my Mum I wanted HER to walk me down the aisle and she said that it would offend my step-father if HE didn't get to do it ... and it's not that I don't want him to, just that I feel it's always been my Mum and I ... even though he did SO much for us ... so I suggested they BOTH walk me down the aisle, and again she said he would be a little upset that HE didn't get to do it. So, I've decided he'll walk me down the aisle ... but I'm going to do something really special for my Mum on the wedding day ... not quite sure what yet, but something big. I'm an only child and we're so close it's crazy. As for the father/daughter dance ... if you don't have a connection with your step-father Bavaro-Princess then don't feel obliged just to fill tradition! Everyone is right, it is YOUR day ... truthfully, it might offend your step-father if you dance with just your mother and not him, but maybe you can do something else for him, or just nix the parental dance all together and do something nice for you Mum like I plan to do so she's included in the day somehow...

Thanks again everyone ... I've officially calmed down and I'm slowly accepting the new wedding date (though you'll notice it hasn't been changed on my profile here or my wedsite ... hehehe). And I think I'm prepared to have multiple meltdowns ... I guess they can't be avoided, no matter how simple the wedding is in the end!!! Thanks again girls ...

I can't WAIT to do my TTD session ... I think I am looking forward to that more than the actual wedding photos (shhh). But, God forbid I brnig up the subject to my Mum ... she FLIPS when I mention TTD photos ... I think she has it in her head that I'm lighting the dress on fire and ripping it to shreds (even tho I've shown her multiple pictures of what a TTD session actually looks like). *sigh* So I've dropped the subject now because I can't stand how stressed out she looks ...... Not to mention she wants me to wear my dress again at the AHR ...........................................don't even get me started on that And Kat, you looked absolutely GORGEOUS and the TTD pictures are incredible.

The more I think about it, the more I'm fairly sure everyone will be alright with the new leaving date ... I think it was just me being ... well ... mental. LOL I guess I should expect some changes over the next 7 months ... I mean there are 7 MONTHS for things to go wrong/change/shift/come up etc. so I have to learn to calm down. LOL As for the date ... I don't know why it upset me so much. I think because when we heard May 14th my FI and I immediately looked at one another and were like, that's a GOOD date ... and we both loved it. It really has no significance ... except that it WAS our wedding date! LOL And you are completely right about the trying to decide whether or not to smack them or kiss them ... there have, thankfully, been more kissing situations then smacking situations so far. Hehehehe Oh, and Shay - do you have a wedding photographer by the way? I only ask because you're in Montreal like me and I'm curious....

Wow that's incredible!!! And what an awesome location choice!!!!! I don't think it's unreasonable at all ... I asked my guests nearly 10 months in advance ... before I sent out the invite ... just get a general headcount and make yourself a 2-5 person cushion either way when booking (people always drop out ... or possibly more want to come last minute). I can't wait to hear about your planning and your final chateau choice ... it's going to be a gorgeous wedding. Ooh la la!!

We didn't FORCE people to book (though I'm beginning to think that we should because NO ONE is doing anything) ... What we DID do was block out seats and places at the resort ... we put down a deposit for 27 spots (25 guests and us) and that desposit then went toward my FI's ticket and mine ... so, we've already paid $2,700 toward our trip ... even if 25 people don't book, that money isn't wasted. And if 25 people DO book then there are places for everyone on the plane and at the resort.

Hey girls - again thanks SO much for all the lovin' and support!!! You girls ROCK. I have to change the wedding date because it's a 7-day all-inclusive package with that resort and if we leave on May 07th (the re-scheduled departure day) then I can't have my wedding the day everyone is leaving (May 14th...). So I changed the day to May 12th for now ... hopefully I can get the 14th back if Air Transat decides to add more flight days. I would move to Air Canada, but in the past I've found their prices to be a bit high, and at the moment we are already paying enough (in my opinion) and I don't want to ask any more of my guests - and I also know that if there WAS another option available (another airline) that my TA would be on top of it faster then I could ask and would have already switched us. She's awesome at what she does and I have total faith in her ... I told the FI last night and he was surprisingly cool about it ... said he didn't care what day we got married as long as we GOT MARRIED ... Keep your fingers crossed though... I did love that date (the 14th) ... and maybe come January there will be more flights added. I've decided not to tell anyone (guests) yet ... just in case. LOL I don't know what I'd do without you girls though ... you saved a mini meltdown yesterday (and I'm sure you're all shaking your heads right now wondering why I got so worked up).

Thank you LCRachel ... and everyone else too ... you girls are definitely calming me down!! And I think I'll feel better once I've told my other half the news too and we can figure out where to go from there. I just had to vent somewhere because I didn't feel like babbling to the TA!

You girls are making me feel much better .... I'm worried because of the flight day - Thursday. I think that will put people off. And yes, it's a package deal through a travel agent and I also don't want to lose the price that we have which is why we can't switch to another airline. It's TRANSAT and I'm sure that's why they are being so stupid ... *sigh* I know it's not the end of the world, I'm just peeved because the invites were sent and everyone knows May 14th is our wedding day ... and now it's not. I've had to change the date, and maybe that's what upsets me the most. It's also going to make things difficult for my Mum - she's a teacher and has to take time off from her classes and find a replacement ... leaving mid-week is going to be harder for her ... Oh I don't know, maybe I'm panicking more than necessary ... but it just freaked me out a bit because everything was going so well!!

So I just got a call from our TA and things have gone a bit ... um ... OFF for our wedding plans!!! I'll try to keep this short: We knew that our departure date was unknown from the beginning ... we weren't sure if it was going to be a Fri/Sat/Sun but knew the weekend and the that we would be in Cuba the following week. So, we sent out the invites, picked a wedding date bada-bing bada-boom ... you get the picture. Soooo ... I get a call from my TA 20 minutes ago and THERE ARE NO FLIGHTS OFFERED ON THE WEEKENDS IN 2009 FOR THAT PARTICULAR RESORT. As of right now my wedding date no longer applies and neither do the dates we told everyone on our invites. The only days available to fly to Cuba in '09 right now are Thursday flights ... who the hell flies out on a Thursday?! I admit, I've been calm and collected throughout this entire process but right now I'm a little flustered. I loved my wedding day and I've just had to CHANGE IT. Because if we don't change it for another day then it's possible that the resort will be fully booked for weddings that week and I won't have anyone to perform my ceremony. I'm flustered and had to vent!!!!!!!! And I haven't told my fiance yet ... I can't bare to tell him over the phone and I'm still at work ...

At home in my closet!! MOH dress found and purchased - on order to arrive in a few months. OOT beach bags found at La Vie en Rose $4.99/bag Photographer booked/paid for - Doss Studios BD photographer date booked - Doss Studios Um, and that seems to be it ... hmm ... it felt like I had a lot more done! Yikes. Um, what happens if you need to pee? Do you have to carry extra adhesive around ALL THE TIME? They look rather uncomfortable ... I'd go commando WAY before I stuck one of those puppies to my nether regions!!

Just wondering if you girls have come across the dilemma of packing, or putting together an OOT bag for a guy who's attending alone? I didn't even pick up a bag for him because, let's be honest; no self-respecting guy is going to skip down to the ocean with a canvas tote bag ... at least I hope not. Sooo ... what have you, the experts, done in this situation? I was trying to think of something manly to put the items in ... I don't just want to hand him the items in my hands. Found and purchased my MOH's dress last week! It was my first choice and the first dress she tried on! She loved it and she looks fabulous in it! I'll post a pic of her in it soon ... we're waiting for it to be shipped ... here's the model pics from the website: And I chose the colour "sand" for the dress and I'm going to get sage-coloured fabric for the tie ... the dress is Mori Lee (like mine!!) and they only offer the sash in black or white so I have to find my own fabric in a colour I want ... I'm so happy we found it and so quickly!!! Now I have to work at finding a dress for the flower girl and I'm done!!!
