Need Help-Outdoor Reception Layout
ashrose replied to MoonPalacePookie's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
No problem!! I haven't bought my dress yet (I've still got a ways to go...) but being able to do ballroom in it is one of the pre-reqs... either that, or I'll need another dress for the reception... and that sounds like a bit more hassle that it would be worth. Back in the old times, they used to do it in big ball gowns... its just going to take some getting used to, that's all. Hope your lesson goes well!! 1-2-3-1-2-3.... -
Hey Girls, I'm excited because I went to JoAnne Fabrics today to look for material for a table overlay and I was able to find some great stuff to start doing a "trial" of what the centerpieces might shape up to be... So far I'm thinking of white table linens with this pinky/orangey/metalicy/glitery cloth as an overlay... Then I want to use lime slices and white flowers attached to a square box or something... with these white crystal branch tree thingies... I still have loads of time... so yeah. It's a start. I tried to put the lime slices in the square vase like I wanted... but it got really tricky and I'm not patient enough to figure out how to do it. Ideas? Need Help-Outdoor Reception Layout

Hey there - so here are 2 different things I've got in my mind. Essentially, I decided I want to dance with the beach as my backdrop. These aren't really to scale -- we are planning on renting some lounge furniture as well to give conversation areas around the different clusters of tables... so that's why I have one where everyone is spread out. You'll likely be able to get a rectangle space to dance in -- almost any way you set it up -- just tell her it is ok for her to let you travel a bit. Most wedding "dance floors" are smallish boxy floors that are hard to travel. This is the dance we really want (or something close to this level of difficulty/elegance): YouTube - It is You-Deb and Ryan 1st draft but I'm not sure if we are going to be able to do some of the tight spins and pivots on the terrace. Deb and Ryan are amazing instructors. We've got some work to do! Lake Terrace Schematic.ppt -

Oh geez... thats a beautiful song!! Let me know what your instructor decides to do with it... I'd probably dance a fast waltz or V waltz to it but V waltz is really hard to do in a wedding dress. I'm planning on using the lake terrace as well... give me a few and I'll draw up the schematic I had in my head. -
Hey Everyone, I love love love the look of under the table lighting. Most of the tables I have seen with the under table lighting have white linens... Do you think this would work with colored linens (like pink or coral) or will it not have the same effect?

Oh that's a great question!! My FI and I are ballroom dancers and our instructor is trying to figure out how many of our moves we can actually do on the terrace. What type of dance are you planning on doing? Waltz? Tango? Foxtrot? Salsa? I can do a schematic for you. Which terrace at MP? -

You should google Trash the Dress and I'm sure you will come up with lots of links to photographers who have done the shots. You can also search within the forum for what other girls have done. My impression of a TTD shoot isn't so much that the purpose is to ruin the dress -- but rather -- to get beautiful and artistic shots without having to worry about the dress getting dirty or sandy or muddy or wet... I'm from Seattle so a lot of girls doing their TTD shoots play around in the downtown urban areas (where you wouldnt want a wedding dress...) or on railroad tracks or on our rocky beaches. In Mexico, I've seen girls on the beach, in the pool, in caves, in the jungle... Really, the sky is the limit ... and it gives you some awesome looking shots.

Poem, quote about creativity
ashrose replied to amy706's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Hey there, This one is kind of abstract, but when I think of creativity and of love I think of creating something out of nothing... "A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral." Antoine de Saint-Exupery -

I think you can use a lot of stuff for the liquid... How about marbles or little rocks? Or there are a lot of ideas here: Party Ideas: Add Color and Light to your Centerpieces -

Hey There, I've been searching high and low for ideas to "theme" a beach DW that are not seashells or starfish. I figured I wasn't the only one out there searching for ideas so here's what I've come up with: Tropical Fruit Theme: Think Citrus or Mango. The tropics are full of delicious fruit - take the "put a lime in the coconut..." and run with it... Here's a few ideas: Tropical Table Settings - Tropical Table Centerpiece How to Throw a Tropical Pool Party: Tips for a Pool Party - stylelist Centerpieces with lime slices - Yahoo! Answers Sandcastle Theme: So without the seashells, you still have the sand on the beach, right? Why not have a morning of sandcastle building contest on the beach? Provide the OOT bags as children's sand pails... have sandcastle centerpieces. Here's a few ideas: LIVING : Party Food & Decorations : Sandcastle Centerpiece : DIY Network 2 Designs - Sandcastle Center Pieces Tropical Drink, "We are celebrating in Paradise" Theme I posted these in another thread, but I still think they are super cute. You could get some lounge type furniture as well and take the theme over the top. Fiesta Flowers AZ That's what I've got so far... anyone have any other ideas?

So my FI and I were talking about these last night... He has a sister who is a bit... uh... odd? Is that the right word? He was like "oh yeah, Christina would totally try to drink the centerpieces." So I suggested we take a ziploc baggie and fill it with those pixie sticks sugar stuff... and attach it to the straws. No one will see it because it will be hidden in the arrangement... so as soon as Christina tries to drink my beautiful centerpieces... she'll get a mouth full of sugar... And we'll get the memories of saying "Hey Christina, remember the time you tried to drink the centerpieces?" -
Hey Everyone, I went a little crazy buying decorations over the last year while planning my wedding in Seattle. Our plans changed and so my theme did as well. I've got a BUNCH of decoration stuff for sale that will be sure to make your wedding BEAUTIFUL. Pictures here: Picasa Web Albums - AshleyRose - for sale Boxes of Christmas Ornaments Orignally I was going to make a tree... but these would look great in a bowl or as decorative chair decorations. I have SEVERAL boxes of each (I think I have 50 some odd boxes total). I'll update this post after I've counted them all. Each box orginally cost $10 dollars -- I'll sell them to you for $5 --Fuscia Festive Balls with metalic circles and beading --Orange Festive Balls with metalic circles and beading --Fuscia blown glass balls --Fuscia drop oranments Boxes of Mini Christmas Lights (100 light strand) --I have 18 boxes at $2 a piece Designer Wrapping Paper I was orignally going to use the wrapping paper to make some decorations or wall hangings... but this would make GREAT paper to wrap OOT bag contents. $2 per tube --Metalic Pink with Silve Polka Dots (4 tubes) --Orange, Fuscia, Red, Gold Stripe (4 tubes) Centerpiece pots These are so cute. There are several different patterns on these guys -- but I am sure they would take paint really well. I love the shape and the round ball stands. Would make excellent centerpiece pieces and they are durable (easy travel, no worries of breaking). --I have 17 @ $3 dollars each Shipping: I'll have you pay actual shipping costs. I'm in Seattle, so if you are local and want to come pick them up -- all the better! PM me if you want more details!

Hmmm. Good point... Maybe I need to rewind and find a TA. Are any of the TAs on the board that specalize in Cancun/Moon Palace that would be willing to chat with me?

Oh geez... ok. Maybe we'll need to do some different choreo than what I had planned. I could just imagine it going very very badly...

Hee hee... apparently I'm behind on what's "in" with flowers. I think they wouldn't be too hard to DIY... then get a big glass and some embellishments...
