My dad married my step mom on January 2nd, 2003... or... 1-2-3. They picked it for that reason. So you aren't weird
  2. Yeah... see... I don't think you need a fancy schmancy light... I think a standard battery powered camping lantern would work fine.
  3. I think Sunday Rose is really pretty... she can grow up to be a really nice aussie country singer.
  4. Hey Ladies, I am sooo not crafty (yet), but I remember going to the county fair last year and there was a guy that tried to sell me a sewing machine that does embroidery as well as regular sewing. Essentially, I'd like to be able to do Monograms and the like for napkins/placemats/ect for my wedding and then MAYBE get in to sewing when I you know... get some time on my hands. I have NO idea what to look for... anyone have any advice or recomendations?
  5. Nice work... they look great. I agree... the family pic is adorable!
  6. Yeah... he didnt get the whole "buy people gifts" thing. He was like "is it like bubble bath?"
  7. "Is it like real money? I mean... can you buy real practical things?" "Well dear, you can enter the lottery and win more points!" "Then what?" "Then you can play the lottery again." "Then what?" "I could make my name appear in another color." "Uh... that sounds like a hassle to me."
  8. We are doing Moon Palace... but there are lots of Palace Resorts in the area... and they do some great promotions for getting groups booked there.
  9. Tee hee... I know EXACTLY what you mean. It's been QUIET here today... and that was fine by me.
  10. Both "my wish" and "I hope you dance" are great choices, have an easy beat and if you want to take dance lessons could be danced either with a slightly modified Rumba or a Night Club Two Step. There's a really pretty instrumental called "First and Last Waltz" by Nickel creek.
  11. Oh geez. It sounds like the suggested tours... I mean... isn't that what they were? Suggestions? Can you pull the "it's their vacation too" card and tell her that you have "wedding" stuff to do instead?
  12. I don't think time/age is what makes you learn about your likes and dislikes. My thoughts on marriage are simply that as we age, we will inevitably change as we grow and as we mesh. If both of us understand that and make the concious choice every day, then I believe... we will be ok. That being said, I'll be 25 when I get married .
  13. I totally think you have enough stuff. But if you are looking for more ... snacks are always a great addition, and depending on what you choose, can "take up" a lot of room.
  14. I am 23... and was just proposed to... But... I was 21 when I entered a relationship "with the intent of marriage" -- aka -- the modern courtship. People freaked out that I was so young and made that choice. But then again, we were weird. We were very clear from the beginning what we saw marriage as, where we wanted to go... and he decided on day 4 of knowing me he wanted to marry me. He waited 8 months before actually pursing me, but yeah.
  15. Wow!!! You thought of everything!! Before I decided to go DW, I looked at the Lake Wilderness Lodge and (funny enough) decided Maple Valley was too far to make our guests drive (most are coming from N. Snohomish County)... so instead of making them drive to Maple Valley, I'm having them fly to Cancun. Aye, I love logic. Best of luck!! Can't wait to see the pictures.
  16. Yeah... I thought about the weight... I can't imagine them being too heavy because they are plastic... but I can't find the weight online. I know my roomate had a tranquility fountain and it wasn't heavy, maybe a couple of pounds at the most.
  17. It's more like a battery powered lantern. This is what it looks like: This is a bad picture of it... I need to find the picture I found of it on the beach... it just sort of glows. Very pretty.
  18. Ok... so I ran the idea by my FI and he really likes it. So now I need to find a way to incorporate it in to our wedding theme. Problem is, when we decided to go DW, our theme went out the window (it used to be based off of Antoine de Saint Exupery's "The Little Prince")... so now I need to pick a theme and then you know... stick with it. I also did some digging and I really like this one: It's like 40 dollars for 6 of them... which is a great deal on Overstock... Cordless Tranquillity Pottery Fountain (Case of 6) from Overstock.com I like this one as well: Cordless Flowing Candle Fountain (Case of 4) from Overstock.com Only 50 dollars for 4 of them... And last but not least... I though this one was cute too: HoMedics - Envirascape Rustic Illumination Lantern Fountain - Black - WFL-CANRUS It's a little lantern with a candle in it ... the candle lights up and is the fountain... Way cute. They are 10 dollars each at Best Buy. So yeah... lots to think about. We aren't doing seashells or starfish (its too "Seattle") --- so I'm trying to go with a Latin Chic or a Tuscany on the Beach type theme. Need to figure out how to incorporate these and add the right embellishments to make them just pop. Any ideas? Which one to you like the best?
  19. Oooh! I think I like pictures of fireworks more than i like actual fireworks... less noisy. Your pictures are great
  20. Welcome! I came on to this site thinking I wouldn't need a TA... ... and then... I realized I probably do. The TAs on the forum are great!
  21. No way! You got an airplane to fly over you with a banner? That's amazing!
  22. Thanks Maureen... I contacted Jennifer to see if its going to be the best fit. So far, so good.
