I agree that he should have found some way to contact you. In this day and age, it's not tough to do so if you really want to. IMO his excuses are lame.

My cousin (from CA) always makes fun of my family for saying "pop" instead of "soda". We also say ya or yeah a lot instead of using the word yes.

I completely understand why you feel sad about this. You do need to approach her about it. If you don't it will always be in the back of your mind and could end up negatively affecting your relationship in other ways. If you talk with her, I would do it face to face, and just say you were really sad that she didn't come to your shower and ask her why she wasn't able to? Especially after running into them at your FFIL's house, that's just not cool. If you are truly close your relationship should be able to withstand a conversation like this. And if she cares about you as much as you seem to care about her, she will want to make this right.

It is a challenge finding a location if you are coming off a cruise. Most resorts will only do weddings for guests staying at their facilities. My advice is to find an independent WC. They will have "ins" with resorts or private locations and be able to help you figure it all out. It took a while to find a location for our cruise wedding. Let me know if you have any questions! I'm so excited!!! My ticker said 5 months and 1 week yesterday! I feel like I still have everything to do. I'm nervous to finalize any DIY projects too early.
