Any group Carnival Cruisers out there...???
Banana11 replied to ~St.T Bride~'s topic in Cruise Weddings
You should totally get group perks for taking a large group on the ship. Are you booked as a group through one TA? I cruised Carnival for a friend's wedding (wedding was planned on St Thomas and not through Carnival) and we all were given discounted rates and $100 on board credit. -
I saw that on Perez Hilton this morning! He was out of his mind! I love how Dave handled it .
-
I noticed a few months ago when he was mentioned Howard didn't really press it like usual. I love it when they put the pressure on her! It's hilarious! She'll always say "what?" when asked a question she doesn't want to answer.

We were in the Caribbean last week for our wedding cruise and it was windy every single day. Because of wind, heat, and humidity I planned to do an all up style. I only had a few pieces down around the front and even they drove me crazy with the wind. I'm sooooooooooo glad I chose an updo! It ended up pouring rain and lots of wind for our wedding and because I picked the style I did it stayed in one piece.

Awww thanks!!! It's so fun to see peoples pictures rolling in! Robin is so full of crap sometimes...okay most of the time. I wonder if she is still getting busy with that young guy, I think his name is Mark maybe?

We picked February because it's suppose to be past the rainy season and cooler temps. I didn't want to be sweating on my wedding day. Like I said before, you cannot control the weather and it doesn't matter how it usually is because that can change in a flash. We were suppose to have sunny, high 70s - low 80s, light breeze. Instead we had strong wind, pouring rain, and temps in the low 70s. Regardless, it's Jamaica, it will be humid. If the sun would have been out we would have been roasting even with 70 degree temps.

I was there for that wonderful weather last week! My wedding day was filled with rain, wind, but still great memories. If I learned anything it's that you can't control the weather so checking constantly will only stress you out. Whatever happens on your day with the weather doesn't matter as it will still be your special day!

DH and I discovered the greatest little thai place near our house. We are both addicted to egg roll #2 and chicken pad thai! It's so delicious!

I love how they call her out on how ridiculous she can be. Like the comment about being a huge Mad Dog fan only to find out she didn't know squat about the show. Or her being a wine connoisseur and giving her the wine quiz! Ha!

I agree Heather and it's so sad. I'm still holding out hope he'll enter inpatient rehab.

Need help with my cocktail reception menu!
Banana11 replied to *Heather*'s topic in General Wedding Planning Information
We had a cocktail/appetizer reception before dinner last week at our wedding. We had 6 different apps, all small finger foods except there were meatballs too. I think you will have plenty of food! I like the guac choice over salsa. And you are so right, everyone will be full from eating all week! I swear by Wednesday I never felt a hunger pain from the base of food already in my stomach . And they can go back and chow down at the buffet at your AI. -
Susan - I totally missed the entire beginning of the show. Did Artie call Jason to say he'd be out today for a personal reason? Is that it?

I was worried about forgetting something too. Download one of the packing lists from here and you'll feel better! I used it against my own lists and it really helped. I didn't forget anything which is amazing!!!

What I would and wouldn't do again...
Banana11 replied to gkashmira's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
OMG that would have been painful if Nick Lachey was in there! Plus we didn't want to be rude and react to the song in a bad way because she tried so hard! We had put together The Beatles love songs for our entire wedding. Jessica Simpson and The Beatles don't really mesh well ! -
Hey fellow cruise brides! We are back from our wedding cruise on Freedom of the Seas and it was fabulous! That ship is amazing, so much to do, delicious food, and the best staff around. Sarice, you will just love your cruise! Make sure to check out lunch in the main dining room. I didn't discover that until the last day and it was so yummy! They have this giant salad bar and you walk around and point to what you want. The chef mixes it all together, chops it up, and serves it with fresh bread. OMG that sounds so good right now ! Our guests kept thanking us for picking such a great ship. That was a big relief to hear! My advice after going through our wedding and cruise experience is to be ready for whatever comes your way. Everything I had read on different wedding message boards said be prepared as something will go wrong on your wedding day. Their advice was to just go with it and everything will be fine. Because of their advice, I went on this journey saying I will be totally satisfied as long as I come home married. That really helped me deal with the bumps in the road we encountered on our wedding day. And it turns out we were really really lucky to have our wedding! I woke up, stepped out on my balcony in Jamaica, and found it to be super humid, cloudy, windy, and rainy. On the way to the hotel it rained even more. Once we got to the hotel our WC said we needed to be ready to go promptly at 1 p.m. as pouring rain and a cold front was approaching and we needed to beat it. The WC ran around setting up tents and clearing out the rainwater and mud. After I saw 1:15 pass, then 1:30 p.m. pass with no one coming to get me and my dad, I knew something was wrong. The WC called my room and asked when we needed to be back on the ship. She said everyone was in place and ready to go except the minister hadn't showed up yet. OMG, I couldn't believe it! I was able to let the terrible weather go and accept the fact that there would be no beach pictures, etc. but leaving there unmarried wasn't an option. They scrambled to find another minister and he showed up around 1:45. The new minister was sooooooooo amazing! He gave a beautiful ceremony and palm blessing. I guess it was meant to be that he would marry us . Anyway, I hope by sharing this you can see it never goes as planned but at least it still goes! One of the biggest bummers to me is our pictures and video. We weren't able to get many because of the down pouring rain and wind. We had to hide under tents and this pink cement structure and that's where we took almost all of our photos . But, I do have tons of memories from all of the craziness! The next day our ship was unable to get to Grand Cayman because of weather and a couple on our ship couldn't have their wedding. My heart broke for them and I also knew how fortunate and blessed we were to have our day. I don't have many pictures yet to share. Sarice, if you want Freedom of the Seas pics let me know. As my family/friends start loading them onto our photoshare site I can send them your way! Let me know if you have any questions! Oh, you mentioned needing lots of support in your strapless dresses. I'm also bigger on top (DD) and was worried about that. My seamstress sewed cups under the lining of my dress and it worked perfectly!!! At first I hated the idea of not being able to wear a bra. She suggested buying Hollywood Tape as a security blanket and it worked like a charm! Plus, you won't have to worry about your bra showing or pulling on your dress.

I haven't read the article but totally want to! Does it show you anything different from what we learned in his book as far as his troubles/problems go? I missed the first 20 minutes today, why is Artie out?

I was gone on your birthday and missed this thread. But happy belated birthday Danielle!!!

What I would and wouldn't do again...
Banana11 replied to gkashmira's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I have also loved this thread over the months and wanted to make sure to contribute to it! Here it goes... Would do: • Have a cruise DW!!! It was great to have everyone be able to do separate activities all day long but come together at night for dinner. • Use a planner on the island vs. through the cruise line (cheaper, more control, many positive reasons). • Guest book from Welcome to the Guestbook Store! Guestbooks for Every Occasion!. I was undecided until the last minute about even having a guestbook. At the recommendation in this thread I decided to go for it! Our guests had so much fun filling out the pages and we had even more fun reading them!!! • Hair flower from Etsy! I LOVED the look of the hair flower and veil together! • Cups sewn into my dress (under the lining) vs. wearing a strapless bra. I have a DD chest and cups worked fabulously! • Use Hollywood Tape! This was my security blanket because I couldn’t wear a bra with my dress. That tape is amazing! It held up through humidity, wind, and pouring rain! It also comes off easily and is hypoallergenic. Highly recommended! • Buy wedding flip flops! I didn’t know how badly my feet were hurting until I switch to the flip flops after we got back to the ship. • Make personalized luggage tags for guests, people loved and used them! • Welcome book came in handy often. • Hair and makeup in the Freedom of the Seas salon! They did such an amazing job and I have never felt more beautiful in my life! • Buy special wedding perfume to wear on my wedding day! DH actually picked it out for me as a Christmas present and I love it! I wore it today while I was back at work to remind me of our wedding! • Take the next day after getting back off work! You will need it! • Pay to have a videographer make a DVD of the ceremony. I haven't even seen it yet and I'm already so happy we decided to do this. I can't wait to relive our ceremony as it's all a blur right now! Wouldn’t do: • Pick early February. The weather was just okay. We had 3 warm sunny beach days out of 8, a few rainy days (on our wedding), and all windy days. I think March or April would have been a better weather choice. • Stress about family! It’s hard to let this one go and I told myself the entire trip to do it but couldn’t. And everyone was totally great! It’s just difficult to travel with a large group like that for a long week. Intense is the best way to describe it. • Let my WC choose a song for the signing of the marriage register. DH & I came loaded with music but when she asked if she could choose a special song for us we gave in. Suddenly during our ceremony Jessica Simpson was singing “Take My Breath Away” which is totally not our style. But it is hilarious in retrospect! And even funnier, the guy in charge of the CD player continued to replay it throughout our mini-reception. We did finally ask him to change the disc! • Not eat. I was so excited, nervous, anxious on our wedding day that I couldn’t stomach more than a few bites of food. By the time we were back on the ship at 4 p.m. I felt really sick. I had to force myself to eat a sandwich and then take a little nap before the reception to make it through. Felt WAY better after that! So even if you don’t think you can do it make yourself eat all day long on your wedding day! Even little bites here and there will help a ton in the long run! • Not have a honeymoon separate from everyone else. We did a cruise and rolled our honeymoon and wedding into one big week. I really wish DH and I would have planned a get away right after the cruise. Maybe we’ll do something special in the near future as a late honeymoon. With everyone there it was difficult to get alone time. -
To Veil or Not to Veil??
Banana11 replied to Lilpaisley's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I had a veil under my hair and it totally didn't take away from the back of the dress. It depends a lot of the type of veil. With mine, you could easily see through it. Here's the only pic I have of it so far... -
The time really does fly and I can't believe we are done with our wedding cruise already! We had a blast and I can't wait for the pics to start rolling in! Our wedding day was filled with unexpected surprises.... We had a missing minister, newly found minister, and pouring rain and wind. Crazy! But in all it worked out beautifully and filled the day with lasting memories. Best wishes to you all as your days are approaching!

Welcome fellow cruise bride! I just got back from my Caribbean cruise wedding and will answer any questions you have. Feel free to PM me!

Everything looks wonderful! Best wishes on your wedding day! I just got back from my wedding cruise and I recommend hair up. You never know what the weather will bring and if your hair is up it has a better chance of staying together and looking good longer. Have a great trip!!!!!!! -
Thank you so much for the well wishes!!! We had a beautiful day!

Congrats girls!!!

veil + hair flower = too much?
Banana11 replied to cougs's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
We had a pretty windy day in Jamaica and my veil did blow to the side but not in my face. I actually think the pictures look great with the veil blowing the breeze! Jamaica is usually somewhat breezy but if I have learned anything from this experience expect the unexpected when it comes to everything on your wedding day and just go with it.
