  1. Okay cool...I figured it out.... http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...beachdress.jpg http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...ess/dress3.jpg http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...ress/dress.jpg http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...ss/dress-1.jpg http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/dress3-1.jpg http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...s/untitled.jpg
  2. http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...ress/dress.jpg Okay....see if this works... Also, I forgot to mention that I would include the garment bag and the veil that I purchased with it. Thanks!
  3. Okay I think this will be way too small to see any details but it might give you a general idea....Oh I also forgot to mention that the skirt is tulle so it would be easy to shake the sand off....
  4. Hi girls! It pains me to write this but.......we have decided to not go through with the beach wedding. Our goal was to have a simple wedding with little fuss and planning and the beach wedding evolved into this horrible monster! It has been a NIGHTMARE!!! That's what we get for dealing with very traditional people i.e. relatives, I guess. Anyway, wish me luck because we are keeping our same date so now I have 8 weeks to plan a traditional wedding at home.....yes EIGHT WEEKS!!! I am actually somewhat excited about the autumn theme I am imagining in my mind and I'm really excited that some VIP guests who were not going to be able to make it to the beach, can now come and share our special day. So here's my deal....I bought what I thought was the most beautiful beach wedding dress. But now that I am envisioning something completely different for our autumn theme back home, this dress is not fitting in the picture. I will try to attach some pics if I can figure it out but it's made by Oleg Cassini who was the one responsible for making Jacqueline Kennedy the most fashionable first lady EVER! The dress is a size 12 with no alterations. It has the princess feel with the full skirt but has roushing on the top that I thought would go great with a tiki torch setting! And my favorite part of all is the flower on the hip. I was planning on removing the white flower and adding a colored flower....I thought about putting a flower there that matched my bridesmaids dresses to pull the look all together...and then of course, a beautiful flower in my hair. The dress was retailing at $999.00 and I would be willing to sell it for $700 or best offer plus you pay for shipping. Yes I'm losing money on this but I can't just leave a perfectly beautiful wedding dress hanging in my closet. Let me know if you are interested!!! ******* Okay, 30 minutes later, I cannot figure out how to post the pics big enough so you can see the dress clearly. I will try to work on this a little more, but in the meantime, if you want me to send you pics as attachments via email then pm me your email address and I'll send them to you.
  5. Hi there! Thanks for the response! I've never been to the area so it has been quite difficult to plan a wedding there to be very honest! I tried to work with Morada but their prices were outrageous. Have you ever been to Lor-e-lei Restaraunt? That is where we are thinking about having a dinner after the wedding. If you have any other input on the area....I will definitely take it!! We are planning on staying at the Islander Resort but getting married in the San Pablo Church in Marathon. I know....it's quite the drive I hear but the other church that was closer wanted us to bring our own priest so we decided against that. I wish I knew what any of these places were really like!!
  6. Hi there! Thanks for your response! We have not decided on the church officially as we have to confirm dates, paperwork, get approvals etc.....but I know our guests and my FI and I are staying at the Islander based on all the great reviews I've read. And I think we will be hosting a post wedding ceremony dinner on the beach at the Morada Bay Beach Cafe. I thought after we were done with toasts and eating, we could all walk down the beach to their live band on the beach and dance and party the night away. I just want something simple and casual and fun. I've heard great things about the places you mentioned as well. Here's the catch. Everyone is quoting me about half the price this fall versus next spring.....now we are thinking about having it in November 08....YIKES!!! I haven't even gone dress shopping!!!!!
  7. Hello! I am trying to narrow down my options here. We have decided to get married in a beautiful seaside church in the Florida Keys in Marathon. Right now I am considering making my guests drive 30 minutes to Islamorada to stay and celebrate because I am not familiar at ALL with the Marathon area. I feel very uncomfortable just picking a random resort and trip advisor has not been much help. If anyone is familiar with resorts or restaurants/bars in this area, please get in touch with me!! Thanks!!
  8. Hi Ladies! Does anyone have any information on these two restaurants? Anyone been there? Pros and cons of each place? I'm trying to decide on places for the rehearsal dinner and reception. If you have ANY information on these places at all, please let me know! Thanks!
  9. Hi Ladies! Does anyone know anything about weddings at the Theater of the Sea or Morada Bay Beach Cafe in Islamodora? I'm having a hard time finding pics or wedding reviews of these places......
  10. OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU FOUND THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YA!!!!!!!! Thanks soooooooo much!! You girls are great!!! Yes those are the ones!!! I love the way the photographer catches the casual fun look because my fiancee and I are all about fun! I know we would have a hard time with any formal poses because we would probably just giggle the whole time! Thanks so much! Now I have to figure out if I can get a photographer to do something similar since it seems as though I won't get those exact pics. Thanks again!!!!!
  11. Oh I know! But like I said before.....there are plenty of other photos to look at and fall in love with so I need to just GET OVER IT!!!
  12. Hmmm.....it was probably about three weeks ago and I think I was just randomly looking at links. I have no order to the chaos in my wedding planning mind lol!
  13. THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR REPLIES! This is actually kind of silly because there are TONS of great photographers out there. I checked a couple of the links that were suggested and those weren't it....although they were beautiful pictures! What else can I remember? I think I saw it when I was reading some wedding reviews.....the link took me outside of the page and it was a slideshow. I liked it because the pics went faster than normal so you were only looking at each pic for a couple of seconds and it really kept your attention. The bride had brown hair....about shoulder length or a little longer. She was wearing her hair down and after the water fight, they were both soaked..including their hair. I can't really remember much about the groom. This is so frustrating but it makes me laugh because I'd rather have TOO much information and photographers to choose from than too little. This IS like finding a needle in a haystack!!
  14. That's great information! And you had a beautiful wedding!! Congrats!
  15. I have that same question.....I'm looking at the Paradisus or Moon Palace right now depending on how many guests we are going to have. My TA sent me quotes and they seem to be so much more expensive than what I'm finding online. I wonder if it would be better for our guests to watch airfare and do that on their own when they can find a good price and then book their room through the TA? I want to save my guests money in anyway possible.....
  16. I noticed that too - a lot of people are looking but no one knows. GREAT! I wish I would have paid more attention when I saw them....this photographer I thought caught fun moments so well. I just remember them being in a water fight in the ocean and it looked like they were having so much fun! I thought this photographer really captured some cool moments. I wish I could remember more because that's what kind of a photographer I want! Oh well.......maybe I'll obsessively and compulsively search for it like I do with everything else on this site!
  17. Hi girls! Okay I need some help! In looking at some reviews and trying to pick a resort for these past two months, I came across some wedding photos that I absolutely LOVED!!! Now searching through the threads, I can't seem to locate them again but I would really like to check out that particular photographer. Please PLEASE help me find them!! The ones I'm thinking of in particular were taken either before or after the wedding day. They were pics of the bride and groom in casual clothing (I think the bride was wearing a casual strapless brown dress) acting silly and playing in the ocean. Like I said, they were fully clothed but the pics were of them having water fights and messing around in the water. It was POSSIBLY around Dreams Tulum but don't quote me on that. Anyway, I just remembered loving those photos and want to know what photographer they used. Let me know if you have any leads! Thanks so much!
  18. Hey girls! I contacted my priest about this and he said for the ceremony to be recognized in the catholic church, the wedding must be performed in front of an altar. This is why most of the beach and gazebo catholic ceremonies do not count as official. He said the best bet (and this avoid blood tests and in country wait times) would be to have it blessed in your own church with a couple of witnesses before you go and then do a symbolic ceremony at the beach. We thought about flying the priest down and having HIM do the symbolic ceremony and maybe include a homily or something so our parents would feel more comfortable wtih the situation. From what I understood though, it sounds like it pretty much HAS to be in a church/chapel to be recognized.
  19. My co-worker just got back from the Royal in Cancun about a month ago and LOVED it! They had originally booked Dreams in Cancun but her husband got sick and they could not go. When the travel agent helped them reschedule their whole trip, they were forced to go with the Royal and weren't happy because they had their heart set on Dreams. I was so surprised when she came back and raved about it! She left being kind of disappointed that she couldn't stay at Dreams and came back and said she'd go to the Royal a million times again! She said the rooms were beautiful and the sevice was out of this world. I hope this helps!!
  20. Hey KC! Yes I am having problems with airfare. It is so expensive from the midwest! I am just trying to get the group discount rate (I think you have to have 10+ people on one flight) and trying to fly in the off season. It sucks though because it's creating a big expense for my guests! I wish I knew of a cheaper way!
  21. Hey girls! Okay so here's the deal.....we are pretty close (like within the week) to committing to the Paradisus to mid-January. I have gotten different TA's to give me some price quotes for the guests and the one with the lowest price quote (by far) is also asking me to get legal names and credit card numbers of all guests attending to we can get a group discount on airfare and book a block of rooms at the resort. I understand her reasoning and I really would like to give the guests the group discount but I also feel like she's trying to put a lot of the work off on me. Does this sound odd to you? Should I ask HER to take care of all of this? I don't understand if you send out the STD's and then people call her throughout the next few months to book how you are getting everyone to stay together? Or maybe you are not doing a block of rooms?? Thanks for the answers to my questions. That definitely does clarify quite a bit. I have not contacted the Paradisus yet to book a date for the wedding but I will do that this week. Is the contact information just on the Paradisus resort's website. You ladies have been great! Thanks for all of your information!!
  22. Hey girls! My travel agent just informed me that there is a surcharge per guest over 20 guests. Is this correct? If so, anyone know how much? Now I'm feeling panicked! Also, how did you go about your guests booking? Did you ask who was and was not going so you could get a general number? How do you get a group discount if everyone is deciding at different times whether they are attending or not? I'm kinda confused on this process.
  23. Ok....so my TA just got back to me with some prices. When I look at those exact dates on expedia.com, my guests and I could book for $200 cheaper than what she is quoting us. Why is that and would you all recommend to go through the TA or get the better prices on expedia or other online deals?
  24. Thanks for all of your input!! I'm getting closer to picking an official spot! Probably by the end of the week....ya!!!
  25. Welcome and congrats! I an in the process of narrowing things down and I also thought abou the Moon Palace. I hear it's a beautiful resort but I also had hesitations about the beach. I have looked at a lot of the traveler photos on trip advisor and have searched for people who took videos of the resort on you tube. I have mine narrowed down to the Puerto Morelos area which is right between Cancun and The Riviera Maya. It has beautiful beaches!
