yes unfortunately the Japanese crane is about $20 a sheet if you buy by the 5 pack, individually about $22. I searched MIchaels/Joannes and all the local craft and paper stores including paper source, papyrus, sterling art and 3 invite companies and no one could tell me where to find it. Online for OC was the onlyway. It is tough to find and pricey, which I debated on buying but found that I loved it once it got here.
  2. So the DIY Bonanza started this weekend. smile123.gif I finished my candle tins, hanging tags for welcome bags, and created my Chapstick Template. Pics will be posted later ( as I have a conference call in a few minutes and should really get some work done.

In the interim, here is my DIY Chapstick labels.

I used the Office Depot 2x4 inch lear inkjet mailing labels (same size as Avery 8663). These were 10 sheets (250 labels, which makes 500 chapstick labels as you only use half). I think it was about $11.

I created the table in word (as the avery template was too difficult to work with while trying to do 2 per. A chapstick tube label portion is 2x1.875 so I created the table of 2x2 sections (one lable will have .125 to be trimmed off, but I thought this was easier than using 2 regular address labels to get it allthe way around).

I bought 17 packs of chapstick at the Dollar Store (2 per pack) for $1.

Here is the template, it is perfectly lined up to the label sheet. When you go to print, remove the lines around the exterior so you don't have to snip these off. Print the sheet, cut labels in half and the left side of the label needs a little trimmed off the left side a little long. Then wrap your tube!

YEAH! My first DIY solo (that mom didn't help me!) Hope this helps someone else.

    Here you go!

  3. My questions is who did you order through? They they should have been in charge of askign you if you wanted the color you were wearing or white? I would put some pressure on them to make it right.

I tried my dress on this past weekend as it just came in as well and had the same problem except my dress showed up in Ivory (I have yellow toned skin so this does not look good). When I complained I made them bring me the floor sample as I would NEVER order an ivory dress for me (especiallyw ith platinum crystals) on my skin. They brought in the floor model and the color was ivory but it had faded to white due to being in the sun....they should have told me this. I was furious as well. So, I understand your pain and have had to change a lot in the last 72 hours. The bottom line is...it is still a beautiful dress that I am sure it looks lovely on you. Give it a chance and see if they can fix it by dyign it for you. Good luck and I am sorry for your disappointment!

  4. This is funny, this is my invite inspiration as well. It took me hours to find the paper. It is called Japanese Woven paper (also called Japanese Cane and Herringbone) and the only place I have found it you have to buy 5 sheets and they are $98 for the 5. Here is the website.

    Japanese Cane - Basho/Herringbone Weave - 37 1/2 x 25 1/2 - 80gsm - 5 Sheets

I bought this and put together my mock invite this weekend and went back to the store to check the Encore one again and this is the exact paper. Some of the others you see (like on Kates) are different textured. This one is exact. I went to Kinko's and asked them to use their large cutter (free) and spent 2 hours cutting it to invite size.

The pocket on this invite, I cannot find, but envelopments has one very similar.

Also, if you liked this Encore invite, check these out for further inspiration (the 7th one down in the gallery)

Good Luck! you and I will have the same ones....great minds think alike!

WOW! This all looks amazing! congrats and well done! Can't wait to see your "Post" pics! May I ask? Where did you buy these silve with rhinestone trays? I just foudn them at Zgallery and bought the chargers to use for my wedding and a couple of the square/rectangle trays to use for name cards and candles...I was surprised to see them on here. You mentioned Michaels, did you find them online? What did you pay for them (trying to see if I should return and get them there). Thanks so much!
  6. Men are very strange with rings...many are afraid of them so they keep them simple (this was my guy in the past). We are having the jeweler of my ER do both our bands. I have spent months showing him rings he didn't like. I came across one that matched what we are making me but in a very masculine style and we have asked him to make it more square than round and change the diamonds to baquettes with a matte white gold versus a shiny (more masculine per my guy). Never thought I would see him in Diamonds, but he wanted this to be "special"

There are so many options out there...just show him things you see that match your/his taste and let him choose.

    Good Luck

  7. Here is another option that I never would have considered originally....I ordered 2 fg dresses only to have them both come back as discontinued, not happy....but happy I saved $300 on both trys at ordering. I was going to wait until spring to see the new lines. I went to the fabric mart (garment district in LA) and found some amazing fabrics this weekend. I was shocked that a fabric I was goign tospend $18/yd on was only 1 or $2/yd here. Casually on the way home, I asked my mom if it would be cheaper to have it made...her thinking I have no artistic taste so she was concerned, until I explained what I was thinking (I had a specific dress in my head that I had not seen anywhere in the right colors/texture). We now have $20 (this is high as I bought lime silk and extra organza) in fabric, $10 in a pattern, and a seamstress will make it for almost nothing....

I am getting exactly what I want for over $200 less....a great way to go.

  8. OMG! I just got a phone call that my dress came in! It was not supposed to be here until the end of December. I am so excited because my mom flies in tomorrow night ot help me with wedding stuff and now she gets to be here when I see it for the first time (the one that is MINE anyway). Sorry no pics until saturday, but was so excited I had to tell someone!smile123.gif

I had been so terrified that it would come late due to the holidays and I just got my fabric swatch last week.

    Pics to come soon....

  9. Does it fit? I would talk to a dry cleaner that specialized in wedding dresses to see if they think it will come clean. If it is your dream dress at the right price and you can live with the marks on it...then it is still your dream dress! If they don't think it will come clean and you can't live with the marks....can you return it. Dress is very pretty though!

  10. I am being quoted $5 per person and told that a 3 tier cake is for 45 people so that is $225 plus $50 for delivery and hourly rate for the the design work. I asked if $100 would cover the design and she said more than. So I was looking at a 3 tier for $375 and she said it wouldn't be that much.

I was also told by 2 cake places no fondant as it does not hold in the weather (not sure if this is for the whole cake or even for just flowers). Hope this helps...who did you go to?

I was quoted by Sweet Dreams and Jennifer Hatton which my hotel told me were the 2 best in cabo.

  11. I was surprised once I began looking at pricing. My FI and I had decided on a few items that we would not skimp on and photography was one (dress and location were the other two). My photographer was a small fortune (more than even I was expecting) but I have no regrets even though it boosted the budget. My photographers are amazing and I am thrilled to have them there. Everytime I looked elsewhere I had a hard time finding what I was looking for and if it was close, it was close in price so we just went with my first choice. Later found them published in the knot so I took that as a sign.

It is really up to you on what you want/can spend, but remember as we get old and our memories go (or as we tell our children/grand children) the pictures live long after we do....so you want them to be good (at least this was our thought process). Good Luck

  12. We are doing just the 2 of us plus his daughter as the FG. She is to walk down the aisle and then sit down so it will just be the two of us at the alter. We are having 30-40 ppl so didn't see the need to have 4-6 people up front.

We were also doing the circle idea, but my photographer mentioined that it does hinder the photos as there are no clean shots of just us, there will alwasy be people behind the shot. just food for thought.

  13. This seems to be a popular thread lately, there are several others on it. Here is the linen availabilibty and price chart. I am talking with them as well. Not sure how they price compared to others, but I had some delay's with them to set up my sample tables (about a month as the guy was sick, then on vacation).

There is also Oxten Los Cabos- OXTEN -LOS CABOS-

    Hope this helps
