  1. My FI and I are expecting about 70 as well. We decided to do a welcome booklet with information inside and a beach towel for each person (the beach towel is also the favor for the wedding). It was still a bit over our budget, but we are happy with our decision.
  2. My FI and I struggled with this as well. We ended up choosing Beaches (a resort that would include children) for the wedding... and Sandal for the honeymoon. We got everything we wanted... we accomodated our guests and got a secret, romantic, kid-free honeymoon!!
  3. Even if etiquette calls for you to pay for your bridal party, you have to be realistic about what you can afford. My FI and I are not paying for the travel expenses of our MOH (my sister) and our BM (his 2 friends). We did send my sister money to cover expenses for the flower girl and ringbearer... but we did ask adults to cover their own costs. My sister was very agreeable to that and very appreciative. We have to be realistic and reasonable... unfortunately our finances are not large enough to cover the expenses of others. We are doing the best we can... and our wedding party is OK with that. Their words... "how often do we get an excuse to go to Jamaica?".
  4. Congratulations on your engagement! From the sounds of your story... it was definitely worth the wait...
  5. Casey, I love you pics! They all turned out so beautiful. I can't decide if I like the one with the taxi or the merri-go-round the best. Your photographer did a great job capturing the playful side of your relationship... the pics are excellent!
  6. Wow! These pics are absolutely beautiful. They are worth every penny you spent, no matter how much over the budget you went. Gorgeous!
  7. YES! My fiance and I met on eHarmony. And just like the commercials says... we are the perfect match!
  8. We started dating Nov. 1 of 2006... got engaged Jan 25 of 2008 and will be married Jan 11 of 2009. So, it will be about 2 years and 2 months from first date to wedding!
  9. Welcome! We are starting to form a nice little group of Beaches Boscobel Brides... there are around 5-6 of us now. You will love this site!
  10. Oh... you look beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing your pics. I can't wait to see more! I can't wait to read your review... I can tell you this, the other Beaches Boscobel brides are waiting on pins and needles! Congratulations, Shandra!
  11. Welcome! It is always great to see another Beaches Boscobel Bride!!
  12. That is a great idea! How creative! I know my fiance and I would love to get a gift like that... it shows that someone took the time to make something... and uh, it's wine!
  13. Katiep, We ordered ours from Beach Towels by Cannon Wholesale manufacturer of custom embroidery beach towel. I was nervous about it, so I did order the sample pack, and the towels were good quality (in my opinion). They will do custom embroidery, so I am sure they would put a monogram on them. I can send you a pic when they arrive... pm me if you are interested.
  14. Wow! It looks like you had the best time! I love the decorations, and your dress did match perfectly with the occasion. Congratulations!
  15. You absolutely CAN have both. Lots of people do. And not to sound like a broken record, but at YOUR wedding, YOU set the rules!
  16. My FI and I are not doing OOT bags. FIrst, I have to admit, I didn't even know what one was until I logged on to this site... duh! Now that I know, we decided that we really just don't want to mess with them. We are trying to keep things as simple as possible. As a way to say "thank you" to our guests, we did order beach towels with a design, our names, and our wedding date embroidered on the bottom. We figure, everyone can always use another beach towel, right? I don't have them yet, they haven't been shipped, but I am planning to post a pic as my wedding date comes closer.
  17. Shandra, Your photos came out just beautiful. I really like the one with the open shirt as well... sexy... yet still leaves somethings to the imagination. Well done :-) Your husband is going to love these photos. As one of several other Beaches Boscobel Brides... we are anxious to see your pics when you return. Have fun! Jodi
  18. I am planning to send mine in October as well. That is... if FI can get his hands on an original birth certificate... he seems to think it will be more trouble than I do... I have mine!
  19. Wow! You ideas and outcomes are AMAZING! If you have the time, I would love it if you could design something for my fiance and me. Jodi and Hal January 11, 2009 Beaches Boscobel Resort Ocho Rios, Jamaica We are very informal... colors are orange, hot pink, teal, and yellow... Thank you so much!!
  20. Hi Katie! I am a Beaches Boscobel Bride too. We are getting married on January 11, 2009. I picked Beaches so that my niece and nephew could be included. They can't get past the waterslides... but the wedding will be fun, too... they crack me up! Let me know if I can help with anything. I have gotten a lot of information from the "Sandals" thread. Carly has been great about answering questions for all of us. Don't hesitate to ask...
  21. We had the same thought... how can they charge us for a reception when my guests have already paid for an "all inclusive" resort? However, we did decide to go with the private reception, and I feel certain we will be happy with our choice. Much to our surprise and excitement, we have about 50 guests coming to the wedding So to us, it's worth it to know that our guests can all be together at one time and place to celebrate with us. And even at $75 a person for the private reception... we are still paying a lot less than we would have for a hometown wedding in either Raleigh, NC or Atlanta, GA. We are working to keep our costs as low as possible in every other area, so if you have any suggestions... please pass them along.
  22. Our Beaches Boscobel wedding is January 11, 2009. We haven't done much planning, but I will keep posting to this thread as I go along (thanks for pointing us in the right direction, Carly). Right now we know that we have approximately 50 guests attending the wedding. We had all of our guests make their own reservations, and choose their own level of room, arrival date, departure date, airline, etc. Because our guests are flying in from all over the county, that has been a lot less stress for me. We are planning to have the wedding on the lawn area (we think). Neither of the gazebos appeared large enough to hold 50 guests in any sort of way that they could actually see. Any advice? We are planning to have the private dinner only with a DJ. Do we need the reception and the dinner? Is it worth it to pay for both? We don't yet know if we get to choose the location for this or not. I need to call Renee. I am off work next week, so it is on my list of things to do. Any information We do know that we can choose two different adult meals and one childs meal for the reception. But again... I do need to call Renee. We are not certain about flowers. The ones they offer for purchase do seem expensive, but I am not sure what my other choices are. Can anyone offer advice on this? What I have done... STD are DONE! 1. I have a dress 2. My MOH has a dress 3. My flower girl has a dress 4. Groomsmen have clothing 5. Fathers have clothing 6. Gifts have been purchased for wedding party (except for the ones FI needs to purchase...) 7. We ordered embroidered beach towels for our favors And I guess that is all so far...
  23. Congratulations! How sweet it is that you were married by your BFF...
