What are your (inexpensive) beauty miracles?
katken replied to Bridget810's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
This thread is so fun! I have two beauty miracles. 1. Getting my eyebrows threaded. I go to a gal that does it out of her home. It's $15 and it totally shapes my face. It hurts like a MF, but it's so worth it. 2. Double sided carpet tape. You can get this at ACE Hardware. Get the cloth kind. It will hold down any type of clothing and doesn't rip your skin off. It's great for keeping fabric in place so you don't have a wardrobe malfunction. I think it's around $2.99 for an entire roll that will last you a life time (unless you wear revealing clothing everyday!) -
Wedding Day Boobs....

We decided Azul is where we want our destination wedding...but after reading so many posts, it seems Fabio & the other wedding coordinators are difficult to get a hold of and aren't really on top of things, is that pretty much correct? I called & emailed Fabio a few times last week to see if we could get some price quotes and see if they have Jan 2nd 2010 open for our wedding date and have yet to hear anything from him. Should I just be patient? Can anyone tell me how they went about reserving their wedding date and how they got price quotes? Is there a specific travel agency we have to work with? Any info you can provide is much appreciated! We're in the very early stages of planning and I want to make sure Azul Sensatori is the right place for us! Thanks so much! Hi Melissa! I'm glad to hear that you fell in love with Azul Sensatori on your site visit! That makes me very happy! Did you take any pics? We'd all love to see them if you don't mind posting. The off-site wedding coordinators are slow to respond. I would make sure to have a travel agent get involved with getting your wedding date reserved. Mine has been great with working with the resort, and she also helped me fill out the short form to reserve my date from the Karisma website. I don't know if that's the process Karisma is still using to reserve dates or not, but until I got a travel agent involved, I couldn't get Fabio to respond. Although it's very frustrating that the off-site coordinators don't respond in a timely matter and sometimes don't even answer your questions when they do respond, if you poke around the forum enough, you'll notice that almost all of the brides from all of the Mexican resorts are slow to respond. I think they're just overwhelmed and probably understaffed. The good news is that although the off-site coordinators are a little more difficult to work with, everyone says that once your down there, everything turns out perfect. I'm chalking it up to be just part of having a destination wedding and I'm just trying to relax and not get too upset about it. Hope that helps! Good luck to you!

Shoe/Beach Options

I've tried my dress on with flats and I don't feel like a bride at all. I'm wearing kick ass four inch hot pink platforms that I'm super excited about. I'm really used to wearing heals so I think that's what I feel most comfortable in. I'm going to ask them to extend the platform so I don't end up standing on sand at all. -

So you may want to take your dress off in private and slip into your wedding night unmentionables without your new hubby watching! Otherwise he might be very scared at the sight! LOL I'm telling you this works better than any bra or gel inserts or anything. It's an old pageant trick that's awesome! -
Wedding Day Boobs....

Ok, I know this sounds crazy but duck tape will do the trick! You simply bend over at the waist, take duck tape from the left side of your boob (literally stick it almost under your armpit) and pull it tight all the way across the bottom of your boobs to the other side. This gives you incredible lift. You may have to put some padding where the duck tape is since everything is pushed up and it will be a little more flat at the bottom of your boobs. You will have great lift though! This works everytime! -

But I think there should be less wind and it will definitely be warmer in April. There was no tent, just the open beach and everyone was dancing and seemed to be having a blast. The DJ brings lights, I wouldn't waste your money on more decorations, they will just be swallowed up in the openess of the beach. My suggestion is make a playlist! and ask that the DJ stick to it, that is really my one regret. The DJ asked if he could mix up the music and I thought they meant MY music, but he started playing just crap. He understood enough English, but I just got too busy and preoccupied with my guests and despite being only feet away, I never got over to talk to him. You just don't want to have to worry about it. If you submit what you want to the coordinator the DJ should get it and be able to have it available for you. My other advice is in case it is as windy a day as what we had. Have your key people who care what they look like in pictures, secure their hair. Men too.(gel, whatever it takes). Goodluck. You'll be happy with the beach though, it is undeniably a beautiful setting. This is really helpful info on the DJ - I think I'm going to go with it. It seems like more fun to have someone playing the music, bringing lights, etc. I don't want to be stressed out about the iPod thing...

Hey girls! I'm so excited...our invites are out and getting reply cards back is so much fun. So far we have 65 guests booked! I still have a lot to do but it feels good to have the invites out. Some of the stuff we have left I feel like you can't do until you know how many poeple are going to come...OOT bags, favors, place settings, etc. So our reply cards are due by March 1 and I plan on being very busy after that finishing up all of our projects. My fiance has still not decided what he's going to wear, and that's starting to bug me, but I guess it's not exactly like buying a wedding dress. LOL I have my first shower next weekend and I'm soooo excited!

As far as the added on services for the music, we have not checked into any of that such as the lighting. I thought about doing this option too. You may want to check with Fabio as I believe there will be an outside vendor fee for this.......I think it will be the same as bringing in a different photographer, etc.

My aunt has offered to throw me a family shower (I have a huge family) and my BMs are hosting a friend shower. I'd like to invite my BMs to my family shower but don't want them to bring a gift. I also don't want it to come across as tacky. I just thought it would be nice for them to be there and meet my family if they were able to attend. Is it OK to send them an invite and personally tell them NOT to bring a gift, just come and be a part of the event?

Can't wait to be in Mexico! Best wishes! How exciting! Have a blast!!!!!!

Do you ask people what they want to have as a salad and main course now? what if i pick something and they can't have, it like an allergy or something. Or do i have the reception on the beach and pay for a dance floor cause i heard (or read) the sand was horrible. Thanks Ladies OMG! I didn't know this. I was planning on having the BBQ deluxe too on the Plaza. I don't understand why this wouldn't be an option? Heather - did Fabio or Tiffany tell you this?

Thanks for your help ladies! I went with two of the 2oz or $0.59 stamps. Like you mentioned they don't match perfect, but it's better than the Liberty Bell or the Rockies. The envelope gets thrown away right away. Invites in the mail on Monday! YAHOO1

Hey girls, I took my invites (square and heavy) to the post office and they said it was going to be $0.96 to send each one out. I'm fine with that, but there are no stamps for that amount and the combo of stamps to reach $0.96 are not pretty unless I go over by $0.15 - $0.20 for each invite. Has anyone found custom stamps that you can put whatever amount you want to on them? My mom and I spent so much time putting the darn things together I don't want to ruin the look with a random stamp of the rockies and two turquoise necklace stamps. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
