So I leave tomorrow for my wedding and of course now I'm second guessing all of my decisions. I had planned on using all roses for boquets and centerpieces. It's supposed to be 90 degrees and humid...are the roses going to wilt? HELP!!

The resort has a back up, I have no idea what it looks like though. I'll just have to go with the flow I guess. Totally out of my control. Just bummed because you get soemthing in your head in terms of the way things will look and I'm really hoping we can get married on the beach. Positive thoughts, positive thoughts!!!

On there webpage it says $1300 for 4 sets while lomas travel says $1500. I am planning on using the DJ. I have a full iPod as back up as I am really nervous about this decision but I did not want to play DJ all night, so I'm risking it. I'll make sure to do a full review when I'm back! It's $1,500 on my planning sheet from Fabio. OK, this helps calm my fears more than you know! Thank you so much for letting me know!

Hi ladies, I am stalking weather.com and it says it's going to rain all week next week and there is a 60% chance of precipitation on my wedding day! Are any other Cancun/early June brides freaking out? I'm praying that it's like Hawaii where they forcast rain every day and it rains some but usually not a lot and usually not all day. ADVICE!?!?

Hi girls, Please be very careful with taking water pills. They can make you dump your electrolytes (sp?). My FMIL went into cardiac arrest seven months ago and they blame it soley on an electrolyte issue. Since she was without a heart beat for a while she now has significant brain damage from the lack of oxegyn to her brain. We're lucky she's even alive. When we were in the ER the first question the doctor asked us was "what kind of water pills is she taking?" I don't mean to scare you but it's not something to take lightly. I would absolutely talk to your doc about it first.

Hi there! The guest list was the second hardest thing to do besides actually picking a resort. I was fighting the same battle with my family and FH family. They wanted to invite everyone, we wanted a small wedding. We ended up caving and inviting a lot of people. With the economy the way it is, etc. we had far less people than we thought actually sign up to come. I'm now happy those folks who were important to my family and FH family to invite at least felt included. We had a total of 72 and then 11 cancelled last week because of the swine flu (totally sucky mass family decision by FH aunts and uncles) but the 72, now 61, is totally manageable and still feels intimate to us. I hope that helps! Good luck planning!

Guest Signature Platter?
katken replied to Sandra&Mario's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I got mine from Guest Book Platters and Personalized Platters too. I love it. Just got it the other day. I need to take a pic and post, mine is more square. You buy special pens from the same place and then once your home throw the piece in the oven and the writing won't smear, wash off, ect. And it's food and dishwasher safe! -

I have a Google alert for the regular reviews but I can't navigate the forum well.

11 guests canceled today - majorly frustrated!
katken replied to katken's topic in Just venting or funnies
OK, I know this is soooo bad, but I secretly hope they get the swine flu at home. I don't want them to get seriously ill, just a mild little swine flu to make them feel dumb for canceling! I've tried giving them educated information, they just don't listen. I'm to the point now where I don't care if the don't come as long as they send a nice gift. Wow, I'm really not a mean person, I swear, just feels so good to be able to vent to people who actually get it! -
Ok, so I thought of a few more questions today for those of you who have recently been married. 1. Did you do a rehearsal with your bridal party? How did you coordinate that? 2. For table assignments, did you sit with guests or did they provide a "sweetheart" table for just the two of you? 3. Did any of you play a "video" and rent a projector/laptop? Did it work out ok? 4. For those that had the symbolic ceremony, did you bring a full script for the minister or did you leave it up to chance? Did you include readings, sand ceremony and were they cool with that? Thanks so much for your help! I'm starting to stress over all of the last minute details. Plus, I just had 11 guests cancel TODAY because of the swine flu. I just can't believe it. Trying to stay positive and focus on the day!

Thanks girls! You're the best. You guys are probably right, since they didn't really want to come to begin with, they probably would have complained the whole time. Eff 'em. I'm going to dance lessons tonight with the FH and am going to enjoy every moment visualizing our first dance on the beach! -
So I know some of you had to cancel your wedding all together because of the darn swine flu, and I don’t want to take away from the sadness, frustration you must feel. But I just had 11 guests cancel TODAY because of the swine flu fears. ARE YOU SERIOUS? It’s not even in the news anymore. I feel even worse because it’s basically all of my FH family. I’m the one that really wanted a destination wedding in Mexico. I feel terrible. They’re scared of the flu, of the violence, on and on. I honestly think they didn’t want to come in the first place and this was their easy way out. They think of Mexico as this really strange, dangerous place. It’s just so not warranted. It’s so rude to cancel less than 4 weeks out after everything has been purchased, personalized, etc. I can’t believe them! They’re all losing their deposits with the travel agency and they’re fine with that. UGH! Thanks for letting me vent. I feel bad venting to my parents who have paid for everything as I don’t want to seem ungrateful and FH is really upset too so I don’t want to vent to him. Now I have to spend the rest of the day at work with a red nose and eyes from all of my crying. POOOOP! OK, now I’m going to be excited about the 61 people still coming!

It was a pain since we had so much breakable stuff, but the good part is that since we had so much stuff, we got private transportation from the airport to the resort and everything barely fit in that! hahaha You have some seriously dedicated guests. How nice of them to help out. Thanks for the advice on the receipts, I've been nervous about that.

Great planning thread! WOW - your stuff was so pretty! Couple of questions for those recently married: 1. How did you get all of your "stuff" down there? OOT bags, centerpieces, etc. Did you use a suitcase, boxes, did you ship? 2. Did anyone use the DJ? How was it? 3. I really want to wear my very high heels for the beach wedding. Is the sand packed down enough or is it fine and hard to walk in? THANK YOU!
