  2. would anyone recommend insurance on a rented car in cabo? also, anyone else worried about a natural disaster? haha do y'all have wedding insurance? (is there such a thing??) i'm just nervous.....!
  3. i went with jcrew, too! they had some amazing sales going on not too long ago, so we got a great deal on the dress and the sash/scarf. the dresses will be a little shorter than what is pictured...the bmaids are having them tailored a little above the knee because that's about my dress length. the sashes are actually linen scarves from jcrew that can be used as wraps, too, when it gets chilly! (those will be tied more neatly the day of in a square knot off to the side!)

So even though I may not have all the information you're looking for, hopefully some of it will be helpful. Viviana is very prompt in responding to emails. She was pretty accommodating when we asked to make some changes to the contract. After our contract was signed, she turned me over to Marco Reza in the Convention/Services department. I guess he'll be our contact at this point for reservations, set up, etc. We decided to rent a villa nearby to stay for the week, host a welcome BBQ (stock up at nearby Costco), and then to have the reception. The ceremony will be on the beach at the Sheraton and then our guests will be going over to the villa, which is in the same community. We found that this gave us more flexibility with our menu, but the biggest factor was mostly to limit our alcohol costs! But since there's more coordinating involved with the reception set-up, we are working with a coordinator. Anyways, if you'd like to ask me anything else about my experience so far, feel free to PM me. I'll be more than happy to share! Good luck! i love the villa idea! wish we had thought of that! haha just how close is the costco? i definitely need to make a stop there ASAP when we arrive! do they have a sam's?? we don't have a costco membership... everyone at the sheraton has been lovely to work with so far. we also have a coordinator which helped in setting up the contract. good luck to you, too!

I don't know much about it, so if anyone has done it...please share your thoughts! Also I'm looking for a photographer( I didn't like the one Sheraton recommends), so if anyone has any tips that would be great! my WP is looking into the bonfire thing, so i'll keep you posted! my fiance and i LOVE that idea....he proposed next to a fire...haha our WP helped us hired Gilda Badillo for photography. i love what i see on her website, and i've seen good reviews on the threads! here's her site link....http://gildaphoto.com/

I am working on an activities list right now I am compiling a list of activities with prices and times and sending it out to our guests via email to get an idea of who wants to do what with the hopes of getting a group reservation. If I can't get a group then people are on their own to reserve activities. Here's what we are doing: Transportation: Airport: transfers are included for most of my guests at our hotel so that's covered. Anyone staying elsewhere are on their own. We provided a link for airport transportation options on our website. Outings: we are planning a rehearsal dinner in San Jose so we will just pay for cabs for everyone to and from dinner (if they stay out after dinner to party, they are on their own). It's only about $10 each way from our hotel so no big deal. After party wedding night: same as the rehearsal dinner. We will pay for cabs to Cabo for anyone going out that night. If people leave early or at different times, they are on their own to get back. We are a bit out of luck with the taxi issues as we hadn't reserved any private transport prior to the strike so we do not have a contract. It will just be cabs for us unless something changes before Sept. Hope that helps! Don't stress either about people getting to and from the airport. If it's going to break the bank then don't do it. People will understand. Just give them other options (do all the research for them). thanks for the help! it's nice to share ideas! i'm praying the taxi dilemma will be all clear by january...? : good luck with your planning! what types of activities are you compiling? (fishing, golfing?)
  8. this is one of the best websites i've found for cute bridal gifts... Bridal Shower Gifts by Classy Bride also, my MOH bought me one of these, which i LOVE! Diamond Shaped Crystal Paperweight - Buy Now! as said before, wedding mags are amazing! monogrammed/new initial stuff is great! we got several beautiful picture frames that are perfect for engagement/wedding photos.
  9. Jon Hart Design: Hand made personalized luggage, handbags, gifts and more. :: SPORTS/ OUTDOOR this site has some great hunting/fishing gear that is personalized. we have some of this stuff, and it's great quality...lasts forever. also, the color selection has several "manly" colors. they also have koozies, bottle carriers, passport covers, etc...
  10. airfare is driving me nuts! half of our guests took the advice to buy their tickets about 3 months ago, but the other half are having to shell out some major cash now.... i feel so bad!!
  11. well, i went a bit untraditional and didn't even step foot in a bridal store for my dress (or the bmaids' dresses!). i got a bcbg short dress for $311 and no alterations needed! bcbg is amazingggg...!
  12. hey there! well, i feel like i haven't found too much about the sheraton (recently) on the posts! i've rummaged through older posts, but i wanted to talk with current and even former brides about the sheraton in cabo! one of the contacts at the sheraton offered us a beach bonfire during/after (?) our reception. did anyone else do this? if so, how did it work out? if you had your ceremony/reception at the palapa location...how did you like it? was the reception okay in the grassy area? what were the best/most cost effective restaurants at the sheraton? if you have any other information or topics to discuss, then feel free! i just want to talk with other sheraton brides! i've seen a lot RIU and Dreams threads, so here's one for us!
  13. great feedback and ideas!! thanks for the help ladies!
  14. as i was researching bout ideas for the fiance and his groomsmen, my fiance noticed that all of the photos of bouts feature them on jackets. the fiance isn't wearing a jacket, so do we bout or no bout? he's not too wild about the idea of a bout anyway, so should we scrap it and save the money? if we do this, should we provide any of the other men with bouts (i.e. dads, grandfathers)?
  15. fiance bought pants today to wear for the wedding! half of groom's outfit....CHECK! haha
