  1. Just wanted to post this - my mom found it on the Dreams Tulum website, looks like they are finally acknowledging to the public that something is going on, even though they won't mention what it is... Dreams Tulum Announcement As many of you may know, Dreams Tulum is not accepting arrivals at the moment. Along with 15 other hotels and resorts in the Tulum area, the authorities have applied restrictions on some areas of the resort that prohibit us from offering a superior vacation experience as would be expected at a Dreams Resort & Spa. We are not at liberty to comment since our legal counsel is actively pursuing a solution, however as of now, do not have an exact date when this will happen. We are determined to ensure all guests have an enjoyable holiday experience and have made the decision to protect and move all new arrivals straight through the end of this month. The resort team is doing everything possible to contact all passengers, their travel agents and tour operator partners to inform them of this situation, as well as provide protection at other Dreams or Secrets Resorts & Spas in the region for all guests arriving in October. We fully appreciate and realize the challenges this poses to all those affected and will do everything we can to resolve this matter as quickly as possible. Thank you very much for your understanding.
  2. Hey Everyone, Just wanted to pass on what I heard from my TA yesterday. Some of my guests are calling her now to reserve their rooms (we're using Apple) for my June 27, 2009 wedding. What she told me yesterday was that when she goes into the inventory for the hotel, the inventory shows that they are not booking rooms in the Dreams section, only the Hacienda section. According to Noticaribe.com, the Dreams section is the one in question with the permits (something about permits to build 150 rooms, but they actually built 430). According to the paper, if they lose this legal battle they will have to return the land to its original condition, which would mean that they would be tearing down the excess Dreams room. I know this isn't really any help to those of you getting married in the next few months, but just in case there are other 2009 brides on here trying to get some information, I thought I would put this out there. I am hoping right now that our "worst case" is having to stay in the Hacienda section if the Dreams section is shut down. Have faith ladies, your weddings will be beautiful and as stressful as this is right now, the end result will be the same- you and your fiance will be husband and wife, you'll do that in one of the most beautiful places on earth, and you will be surrounded by friends and family that love and support you. When its all said and done, you will return home with your husband!
  3. Trish - your brother is truly something else, how lucky you are to have the support of your family through this really difficult time. My mom talked with our TA yesterday about being moved to a Secrets location, since, like many others on this forum, Dreams Cancun is not what I was looking for at all (uhh, there's a reason I didn't pick DC in the first place!). The TA said that she didn't think that they would allow children at the Secrets resorts since my wedding is so far out (June 27). I am not sure if they would be willing to make exceptions for those being married earlier. Another idea that was mentioned during her visit was that they may be taking people to Secrets for the ceremony, but then back to Dreams for the reception, perhaps you could see if this would be an option? I would also hope that Dreams Cancun would honor the room rates guests were quoted at Dreams Tulum since it is more expensive, as well as honoring the wedding package and "extras" prices since they are more expensive at DC as well. I am looking forward to hearing how things are turning out for everyone as time moves on, I am trying to be thankful that my wedding isn't until June, but it's still an added stress that I didnt need to deal with. My heart truly goes out to those of you that are being married in the near future and are caught up in this situation.
  4. Yeah, the whole situation is bizzare. AM Resorts says they are open but not accepting new guests. They say they will accept new guests starting Monday once the infractions are dealt with. Noticaribe says they are closed for good. I don't know who to believe... and my wedding is June 27 at Dreams Tulum!!
  5. Name - Nicole Wedding Date - 6/27/09 Wedding Location - Dreams Tulum (hopefully)
