Those two pictures need more light in the overall scene. If you are spot metering in the middle of the ring where it is most brilliant, everything else will be too dark. Here are two amazing links of inspiration:

Kat speaks the truth, since I love traveling for destination weddings so much I always discount my services at least as much as the travel costs. I'm sure you won't have a hard time finding a Stateside photographer that you like that would make a good deal to have the opportunity to go with you.

Wow, that is going to be an awesome wedding! My wife did a semester abroad in Dijon, France. When I visited her we went to the Loire valley Chateau's. They are absolutely amazing. Can my wife and I go ahead and RSVP? lol. Since it is a special situation I don't think it is unreasonable to ask for a yes/no, maybe give them a few weeks to talk it out and Miranda had a good thought with the cushion.
