My resort is charging the following for entertainment: SOLO GUITAR PLAYER $900 JAZZ DUO (2 HOURS) $1,000 MEXICAN TRIO (3 hours) $1,300 CLASSIC QUARTET (Violin, Chello) $1,900 MARIACHI (3 hours) $1,500 CUBAN BAND $2,100 DJ (5 hours) $2,500 FIRE DANCERS (30 MINUTES) $1,500 MEXICAN DANCERS (30 MINUTES) $1,500 FIRE WORKS (30 SECONDS to 1 MINUTE)$2,00 Is it me, or do these prices seem really, really high? Especially the DJ! What is everyone else paying for these services? Can you recommend any companies that could/would offer a better deal??
  2. Just wondering if anyone has booked an actual tour with this company. I actually plan to use them to transport my guests from the PVR Airport to the Resort (which is 2.5 hours out of P.V.), with a stop in the Malecon area. Its run by a husband and wife team and they speak English and seem pretty nice. Superior Tours Vallarta - Private & Shared tours Let me know what you think!
  3. Has anyone actually had their hair or make up done here? I have an appointment for a trial Hair & Make Up with Len, next Friday! It's going to cost me $120 USD. He seems very personable and fun via email! If this is a bad choice please let me know ASAP (so I can cancel). I've read about the salon throughout the forum, but I don't think I've actually seen an actual review.
  4. Please help!! My Resort offers the following entertainment: SOLO GUITAR PLAYER $900 JAZZ DUO (2 HOURS) $1,000 MEXICAN TRIO (3 hours) $1,300 CLASSIC QUARTET (Violin, Chello)$1,900 MARIACHI (3 hours) $1,500 CUBAN BAND $2,100 DJ (5 hours) $2,500 FIRE DANCERS (30 MINUTES) $1,500 MEXICAN DANCERS (30 MINUTES)$1,500 FIRE WORKS (30 SECONDS to 1 MINUTE)$2,000 I find these prices really HIGH! What is everybody else paying for entertainment? People keep telling me that we are getting taken advantage of because we are foreigners. Is anybody else experiencing the same problems/frustrations?
  5. Wow!! I love food!!! I'm so excited to try one...or two of your suggestions! I'll be there in October, cant wait!
  6. A little gem we found (and happen to be getting married at) is El Careyes Resort (elcareyesresort.com). It is a bit of a drive from P.V. (2.5hrs), but it is a nice easy ride and well worth the trip! If nothing else, I'd consider as a honeymoon spot! Its a very private and remote location! There are also beautiful villas at careyes.com. Best of luck!
  7. Thank you all so much for your input! But after much discussion, I think we are going to the the legal stuff here in the states as well (still freaked out)! However, we are considering a religious ceremony (Catholic) has anyone done this? I know there is a lot of requirements for this too, any input?
  8. Our wedding planner is telling us that it is a legal requirement to undergo a blood test. That a doctor will come to the resort, draw our blood and deliver the results to the judge!!!! Does this freak anybody else out Or has anybody else had to do this?
  9. I've heard back from a couple of the WC and yes, there is additional costs for travel (aprox. $250 just for florist to travel). These prices are just estimates at this point. I haven't started talking to them about specifics just yet. But I'll keep you posted. I thought the hard part was done, deciding on a date (which took 6 months) and find/choosing a location. But I have a feeling this is going to get a lot more complicated than I had anticipated! Once again, thank you all for your help!!

Thank you all for your support!!
  11. Thank you for your suggestions! I've emailed the WC in regards to pricing. I already have location & caterer (Playa Rosa). But of course many details have yet to be determined, ie. flowers, dj, photographer, transportation. I'm hoping that the potential WC will be able to negotiate better rates from the vendors, is this likely? I feel that vendors are giving us higher rates because we are tourists.
  12. I am feeling incredibly overwhelmed! This site is great, you ladies offer a lot of great advice and support. However, it seems to be mainly for weddings at AI Resorts where you have a WC. I am not getting married at a resort and am beginning to think its a mistake I was in PV last month on a scouting trip and completely fell in love with Costa Careyes (about 2 1/2 hours out of PV). I am having a difficult time trying to find vendors in that area. I am still waiting on a list from the management office. However, their prices are very, very high. I feel that I am at their mercy since I am not to familiar with the area and/or vendors. Should I hire a WC? And if so, can anyone recommend a good one? I tried Dazzling Details but they were booked for my date. And after reading through a lot of your threads learned they are a bit pricey. Any insight, help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  13. I was wondering if anybody else has attempted the drive from P.V. to Careyes. My fiance and I where just in Nuevo Vallarta on vacation and rented a car and drove to Careyes. It took us a little over 2 1/2 hours. But it was well worth the trip, since we are now planning our wedding in Careyes. I am still debating between (Costa Careyes) and (El Careyes Beach Resort, Official Website.). If anyone has information please share.

Thank you for the welcome! Unfortunately, there is not much information online. On of my biggest problems. But we just returned from a vacation/scouting trip where we were able to visit Costa Careyes & El Careyes. (Costa Careyes) I love, love the location. The only downside is the drive out and lack of information or reviews online.

Hello Everyone! I'm so excited I can finally post! I've been addicted to this site for the last 3 days reading every single thread about Puerto Vallarta Brides/Weddings. There is so much great information! However, I am planning my wedding in Careyes (about 2 1/2 hrs out of Puerto Vallarta). And am trying to gather as much information as possible. So if anyone can provide any insight I'd appreciate it!
