    I'm getting married in January 2010 and my travel agent said to wait until July/August to book for the best prices. I think it's still too early, the hotel seems pretty expensive still. I know it's hard to wait but I think you only need to book 5 months in advance to keep your date!

    Barbo, I told the WC my package at the beginning and approx number of guest. I have since changed my package. I think it's okay to change pretty much everything up until you get there. I think they e-mail you about a month in advance with more specific questions. If you have special requests, such as music or location, etc. It helps to let them know asap so you can reserve your spots. I hear they do up to 6 weddings per day at all the different resorts, so pick your spot early!

    Does anyone have the new 2010 prices? Also, for those that have stayed at the palace before...were you guests at the tropical allowed anywhere at the palace? I know they have specific pools and restaurants that you can only go to if you stay at the palace. But what about the bars and the beach? Also, are they allowed in the palace rooms? I'm wondering if we can have people in our rooms that are staying at the tropical/colonial? Just to get ready together or have a few drinks before going out. Anyone have an experiance with this? Thank you!

    Barcelo Maya Palace! I've read so many great reviews and seems to have a good mix of everything the age group I am bringing 19-65. There are 3 different price points so it is very affordable!

    Does anyone have prices for 2010 yet? Tata, I orginally wanted to do Ocean Scents but when I priced it out for around 50 people I can save close to $3000 to do Sea Breeze. I'm not thrilled about having my reception in a banquet room but I've heard the banquet rooms at the palace are really nice and new,and that they have a large window. I figured that $3000 for a 3 hour dinner wasn't really worth it. I'll probably have a cocktail hour outside before the dinner too.

    I would pick January over November. I had a girlfriend that was going to get married in November in Cancun a few years ago and a hurricane completly wiped out the beach. She had to cancel her wedding 2 weeks before it move it to Vegas. I would risk rain in January over hurricane.

    You have to pick one of the packages that includes a dinner on the beach if you would like to use an open air grill. The only other option is the banquet room.

    Does anyone have experience with a legal ceremony at the Barcelo? Can you tell me how the judge was? Do you know if it is religious? Can you still write your own vows? Thanks!

    Does anyone have any pictures of the banquet rooms at the palace? I am hoping I can do the coral grill but was told that the prices would be increasing 10%. I'm not sure I can afford that with the amount of people I have coming. The new photographer policy is super frustrating. They originally told me day pass and now it's $300! They should offer the price they told us when we put our date on hold.

    Thank you KBBride! This is so helpful! Who did your pictures, did you have an outside photographer? Do you have some we could check out? Also, where did you find the picture of your yupa? I've been looking online but haven't found a great one. Thank you!

    I really hope they send out the 2010 prices before June. Last I heard was to expect them in March/April. Has anyone heard anything about the photographer policy? I e-mailed Gabriela but haven't heard back yet.

    I did not hear that about the photographer. I was told that their policy has recently changed and you can now bring in a photographer as long as you pay for a guest pass. I think this is fairly recent, within last year or so. I am working with Gabriella and have it from her in writing! Also, are any of you having the legal wedding? Is it a big pain to get all the paperwork ready and the blood test? Do you know if you can still add extra things to the ceremony if it is legal, such as a sand ceremony and have your own vows? Thanks!

    I e-mailed the wedding coordinators at Barcelo and they put my date on hold. You have until 5 months before the wedding to provide them with your booking info, then they will officially reserve your date. I am working with a travel agent for flight/hotel prices but working directly with the Barcelo for wedding stuff. Hope this helps!

    KBBride-Your photos are gorgeous! Everything is so beautiful. I am getting married January 25, 2010 at the Palace. I loved your beach location and reception location. Where were they at? Also, did you make your table centerpieces or did they have them at the Barcelo? Did they set up the ceremony site with the white netting or did you do that? What time was your ceremony at, did you feel like you had enough time for pictures before the sunset? Sorry for so many questions. How was the weather that week? Thank you so much!
