  1. Not getting married but, we are a couple of wedding photographers that will be celebrating our 30 year anniversary at Couples Negril June 12. Trying to decide if we want to spend the money on a vow renewal ceremony. Username: Scott C Becca & Scott Couples Negril Anniversary date: June 12, 2012
  2. Congrats Danyel. Now the fun starts with all the planning. Enjoy the ride because it will be here before you know it. ~~Keep Smilin~~
  3. Best thing is to contact Del Sol and ask them what the story is. They may have working relationships with the resort you are going to and have no issues there. If not then my guess is they will know what to expect and can advise you. They are excellent togs and in that area so that is a bonus. Mexico can be a little different. Grease the right wheel and you have no trouble. The issue is knowing which wheel to grease.
  4. Nice list you have there. ...I do know that Del Sol does amazing work especially with some of their TTD shoots. Good luck on your planning.
  5. Have you considered the Excellence Punta Cana. It is really nice and the weddings we saw looked great. It is all adult though which could be an issue. They do have a nice area for a beach wedding as well.
  6. We flew from Houston and the flight left at 6 ish AM. No overnight layover for us. We ended up getting to the resort around 4 that afternoon so it is a somewhat long day traveling. I think we spent about 2-3 hours in the Miami airport going. Coming back was a different animal but was airport related and not the planes fault.
  7. I know the cost of living isnt bad at all as long as you can find work. Trouble is I have a 21 year old with a year left in College and a 16 year old heading that direction. Tough to pick up and move there until those situations stabilize. Perhaps one day.... thanks for the offer and maybe one day I will look you up and take you up on it.
  8. And that is why you hire a pro. A good lesson here. The photos look really good and the 2 of you are a photographers dream, a very attractive couple. Congrats on the wedding and I wish you years of joy together.
  9. YOU LIVE THERE. That just isnt fair. Jut kidding. I have bee trying to figure a way to move there but just cant get the cash to make it work. Hello

Welcome to the forum. Maroma should be amazing and with a new resort you should have a great wedding.

    Hello!

Welcome to the party Danniell and congrats on the engagement.
  12. If I were you I would call them directly and speak to someone. I am not sure about your location but in Houston you can get a calling card for a dollar at the dollar store and it allows you to call international for really cheap. Might be something to think about and make it cheaper to call them. Good luck.

    hello

Welcome to the forum. If you have any questions just ask.
  14. Hey Steph, welcome to the forum from a fellow Texan. We are in the Houston area now but Becca & I both graduated from Tech way back when so we know all about those West Texas days. Congrats on the upcoming engagement. If you have any questions give us a shout and we would be happy to help in any way we can. Scott & Becca
  15. What date is your wedding. That will help alot of photogs that look at this post to determine if they are even available.
  16. I say go with both. From a photographers view it will give some detail to the individual around the neck. If you shoot a head shot of a girl with a strapless dress it has a tendency to come across like she is naked.
  17. The Tucan and the Quetzal are mirror images of each other and both share all the same restaurants. There is not really any difference between the 2. Generally the Tucan is booked with Europeans and the Quetzal with N. American/Canadians. The Steakhouse is a good bet for a dinner. The food was always good and it has a nice atmosphere. It is outside and can be warm when the breeze isnt blowing in. Looking at those photos, that is the Tucan side of the beach. They arent showing the Quetzal side but hopefully in a few months it will be filled in.

    Hi!

Congrats on the wedding. Cabo should be a blast.
  19. That is good that they are actually adding sand to the beach. Until now they pretty much let the ocean replenish the sand but this time it is just to much damage. I see that they were building a retaining wall which tells me they are going to be content with the new beach level. Hopefully they willl get it back to a usable situation. I really like the Quetzal for a vacation spot and would miss not getting to go back. The best thing to hope for at this time is that they have a mild storm season this summer.
  20. I send out an unsigned contract. The bride and groom return it signed at which time I review that there has been no alterations to the contract and then with the payment of their retainer I sign and date the contract. At that point I return a copy of the contract to the bride along with a statement showing their payments and balance. We dont do alot of weddings where we havent met the bride in person and typically conducted the details in person but the process would be the same for us. In my eyes it is only fair for you to have a signed copy of the contract that we are working with.
  21. Wow, I just found pics of the beach. It doesnt even look the same. What a shame. Now I see why they are having concerns. That is simply amazing. These are from 2007 and if you go through them there is some more recent photos. I am just stunned because this was such an amazing beach with palms and palapas. playa 2007 017 pictures from friends & fun photos on webshots
  22. We made several trips to the Quetzal up until a few years ago. Our last trip we were scheduled to leave the day before Hurricane Emily was to hit. At that time the beach there was only half what it had been in years past. Now our TA doesnt send anyone there due to the beach condition. That is a real big deal because it was a super popular resort for her business. We still love the Quetzal but when we go next will probably stay at the Del Mar or find a new place to go until the beach rebuilds itself at the Quetzal. It is a shame because we LOVE it there. My thoughts are, if you are a real beach fan like us then you might want to consider another location in that area. Just my $.02 and YMMV.
