Please be advised that the Iberostar Paraiso Beach & Paraiso del Mar is temporarily closing for arrivals from May 8th – 31st due to the current low occupancy. Guests will be upgraded to the Iberostar Lindo during this time period. Maxine Streeter / Agent It looks like June brides will be in the hotels that they originally booked. I guess that could change if occupancy stays low but I am keeping my fingers crossed that we will be at the Del Mar!!!

Thanks for the information! I guess they don't know how long they will be transferring people to the Lindo? I am wondering if my group (arriving 6/21, 6/22, 6/23 and 6/24) will be moved over to the Lindo. Did anyone find out if they can still rent the Tropical Restaurant for the private reception if they are moved to the Lindo?

Hmmm...although an upgrade sounds awesome I am wondering what they will do about the Tropical Restaurant rental. Honestly, I think with my wedding being so far out that by then tourism will be back up and they will keep us at the Del Mar. But I guess time will tell... Is anyone having issues with Reyna not getting back to them? I have sent two emails (one on 4/22 and the other yesterday) and have not heard back. The last email that I received was from Gabriela saying that she was leaving. I am trying not to be a pest considering everything that has been going on in Mexico lately but it is pretty annoying.

Hi girls, I am finally over the Swine Flu! Nothing like the media blowing it out of proportion! I still feel for those of you that are getting married in May. I am not until the end of June and although things seem to be slowing down I still have a few guest that can't help but email me to tell me how stressed they are about this so I am sure May brides are really feeling it!!! We still have six weeks so it should be more than fine. Quick question...I am renting out the Tropical Restaurant for our reception. Does anyone know how many people each table fits? I am going to work on the seating chart and I don't know if I should do tables of six, eight or ten. Thanks!

We have 45 people booked for our wedding at the end of June. I honestly believe this is being blown out of proportion and that it will be gone in the next couple of weeks. However, the majority of our guests are panicking and thinking about cancelling. My FI and I do not know what to do at this point! Our travel agent is looking into the Iberostar Resorts in Punta Cana and Jamaica to see if we can switch. The air travel is going to be the tricky part.

The White House is issuing at statement on the Swine Flu momentarily (Fox News is going to broadcast). There has been an outbreak in NYC (a few students just got back from Mexico two weeks ago). In the US there is a total of 19 cases (NY, TX, CA, KS) that have been reported. I am starting to stress!

I mailed out the invitations last week! We are already starting to get the responses back (our RSVP card was for the Mexico Reception and the AHR PA Reception). I look forward to getting the mail everyday to see who has responded! Our wedding is 6/25 and here is what we have done so far: - STD's went out last summer - Like I just said invitations went out last week - I have my first dress fitting this Saturday - Bridesmaids dressed have been picked up and delivered to the girls - Bridesmaids / Groomsmen gifts have been bought - Contents for the OOT Bags have been purchase - We bought our rings (My FI's ring came in a few weeks ago..just waiting on mine) - Wedding Day Jewelry and Shoes purchase - Photographer booked - To date, 45 guests have booked for Mexico Things to do: - Print our logo onto transfer paper and iron onto the out of town bags - Decide on ceremony programs and put those together - Do seating chart and print out place cards - Figure out what to do for favors (any ideas? we are thinking of shopping in Mexico for these) - Put together welcome letters for our guests - Go shopping for clothes for our trip - Talk to florist about flowers for our AHR and everything else! (We have the hall, DJ & Caterer booked but not much else done for the AHR)! Am I forgetting anything

Playacar Palace
jlj1176 replied to Tanya Marie's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Hello, I am not getting married at the Playacar Palace (we are going with the Iberostar). However, I stayed at the Adventura Spa Palace for a week last May. Since the Palace resorts are linked we did spend an afternoon at the Playacar Palace and had dinner at their Italian restaurant. The resort was BEAUTIFUL! I have some pictures (maybe 5 or 6) of our time spend there. If you would like to see them shoot me an email at [email protected]. If you decide on the Playacar Palace I am sure you will be very pleased with your decision! -

We are having a welcome cocktail with most on may 13 which I set a time/location in the pre-travel brochure and outlined the times/locations for the other stuff. We also made up oot bags and are including another booklet with itinerary of the events/times/locations that the resort will hand out for us to those that we don't see at the welcome cocktail. Check out the link for the brochures I made under my pic of the puppies. Hello, Do you mind sending me the templates for the brochures that you made? My email address is [email protected] Thanks! We are going to go with traditional vows as well. We have so much to do to write our own! I will be a nervous wreck so I think someone telling me exactly what to say will be much better than me on my own! Thanks again for all of your help! I am sure I will have a million other questions between now and June!

Ryan's Girl and Paraiso Beach Bride, Sorry to keep bombarding you with questions! We are doing the civil ceremony. I read the transcript that you posted (Beach Bride). I didn't notice anything about putting the rings on. I take it that you don't do the whole "with this ring I thee wed stuff". When during the ceremony do you exchange rings? Thanks again for all of your help! Jenn

We are checking out on June 27th and heading to the Excellence Playa Mujeres. We were originally going to go to the Sun Palace but Excellence is running a great sale right now! -
I got an email from Gabriela this morning about her promotion. She said she spoke with Reyna and Karla (the new assistant) about what we have discussed but I am nervous. I am worried it will be like starting all over with the planning. UGH!!! I was under the impression that even if you have the dinner at one of the gourmet restaurants it was 18 per person. The wedding package includes the first 10 guests. I was told any additional guests are $18 per head. Did she send you the Wedding Details form to fill out? The one she sent me says the Tropical Restaurant is from 6:30 - 10:30. I am a little worried about the inconsistancy of it all! If you send me your email address I can forward you the information that I was given.

Hello June Brides, When are you sending out your wedding invitations? We just got our invitations and have them all ready to be put in the mail. I was just wondering how far in advance other brides were sending them out. My wedding is June 25th. I feel like it may be to early? Thanks!
-
Question - How far in advance is everyone sending out wedding invitations? I sent out the STD's last summer. We ordered the wedding invitations and got them last week (I wasn't expecting them to come in until the end of April). We spent the weekend putting them together so they are all set and ready to be dropped in the mail box. My wedding is June 25th. Is it to early to get the invites in the mail. Thanks! Jenn

When we arrive there will be cold appetizers and salads. At 7 pm dinner will be served (choice of Skirt Steak or Grouper). We will have our wedding cake served at the reception (instead of after the ceremony). She did tell me that if I wanted a cocktail hour before the rental starts at 6:30 (say from 5:30 to 6:30) that there would be the $12 per person charge for drinks with appetizers.

I am not doing the cocktail hour in addition. Per Gabriela, at 6:30 (when the rental begins) they will have an appetizer buffet set up along with salads. She told me dinner would be served at 7. We are having the ceremony at 5. I figured after the ceremony (5:30ish) the guests can go to the lobby bar or the beach bar and have a drink or two (while we are getting pictures taken) until the reception begins at 6:30.

Yes, I am waiting until after my dress fitting to decide about whether to wear the bustle all day. The sample dress was too big so the train just felt so long. Once my dress comes in and they take in the hem I am hoping that makes a difference with the train! I just read your review! It sounds like everything overall was pretty great! I am like you when it comes to keeping things simple. I am starting to get really excited!
