Too many colors!!!!!!!!!!!
Jacilynda replied to *HOLLY*'s topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
HEY! My colors are pink and blue and we definitely don't look like an 80's party, as a matter of fact the knot picked pink and blue combo as one of their top 4 fav color combos! -
Check out Riviera Maya Hotels, Resorts, Rentals: Mexican Caribbean Vacation Go under trip research, go to services in specific towns, select what town you are staying in and it will bring up dive centers. there are lots of different classes with basic PADI cert and open water, etc.

Why i need to have a Wedding Planner
Jacilynda replied to devidmike's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
For me a wedding planner is a NEED for the day of! I don't want any of my friends or family or myself running around putting everything together and trying to make it run smoothly as well. Also for vendors. A WC probably gets a good deal w/ vendors they use and I dont have to spend tons of time searching for vendors and the best deal. Also now days a day of WC costs as much as paying a WC for to help you through the entire thing. For us we made room in our budget mostly for WC because of rentals, and not having to worry about ANYTHING on our big day. We can relax and enjoy it and know its being taken care of. -
Where are you going to be in RM? almost every town has options

I wanted to point this out so other brides at resorts like mine wouldn't be naive. I saved several thousand dollars by doing this! Even if you're negotiating directly with vendors, I don't think I'd ever call negotiation "tacky" - this is business, and the vendors can always say no to your proposed price if they wouldn't make a sufficient profit. Prices are almost always negotiable. I was in no way calling anyone on thread "tacky" But this thread is really encouraging for everyone to negotiate. I'm saying if its a good price take it don't try and negotiate everyone down to the last dollar. If its overpriced by all means negotiate.

havianas vs. party flops

I'm just sittin in the car waiting for Joe (we're going to the lakehouse). I'm actually working on putting my planning thread in word while we're driving, there is sooo much stuff I need to get it all down so i don't forget anything in the next couple months! I can see maybe personalizing cheaper flip flops w/ your names, but I would definitely not do it for havainas. I'm pretty sure not one of our guests have ever had havaianas and I'm sure the first pair they get they don't want Joseph & Jacilyn all over them! HA! -
HUUUUUGE etiquette question please HELP!!!
Jacilynda replied to amenellie's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
are you having a co-ed shower then? If you're wanting to doit for a celebration for your family i wouldn't call it a shower. It would be an AHR, no one said you have to have an AHR after your wedding. -
Farewell Brunch: Mandatory?

I agree w/ Michele on this one. It may be different if you were getting married somewhere far from either place. I personally am inviting everyone to my shower. Although our friends have known from the beginning we wanted a small wedding w/ our family on the beach and would have a celebration when we got home. No one has been offended cause they either can't afford to come, or can't get vacation time. Also we are having our AHR right after we get home so our invites will be going out soon. i'm going to send out our AHR invites before the shower so my dearest friends invited to my shower have an invite to the AHR first. If people really know you, they'll know if you're just trying to get gifts. I think with a DW you're able to break etiquette rules a little. But I do think if you're going to invite them to your shower and AHR they should receive an invite to your AHR prior to your shower. Some people have a whole 'nother ceremony at their AHR which is fine, but they should receive an invite to that first. If you're having your AHR a while after your wedding then wait to have your shower as well -
havianas vs. party flops
Jacilynda replied to Jacilynda's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Ya I'm just doing regular i think. My email to havaianas came back at 2 am saying it was delayed so I'm still waiting on them. I don't want our names on them. I just don't like the idea of giving, mugs, koozies, flip flops w/ our names on them. Something weird just my personal opinion cause I'd rather received a gift w/ the location of where we went than someones names on them. this is the pair I think I'm going to get so they aren't so plain jane. Our colors are blue and pink but some people would rather have pink and some would rather have blue and I don't want to ask everyone cause I want it to be a surprise and not have them knowing their getting flip flops. And brown can go w/ almost anything -

YAY Congrats girl. Ya she did say she couldn't log on BDW, she said her IP address was blocked. So if you have her as a friend on FB or her email send her a message! -
I want to make a small point real quick. Vendors ask for a certain amount for a reason, generally they have room to budge, but I don't think for everything you should negotiate. Really think is it worth that, if you think so then take it. I can't stand people who try to negotiate every small detail. I have a small budget. I had no idea on the prices for certain things so alot of my bigger things, which seems like everything to me, but not really everything. I think negotiating is worth it if you're making a big order or giving alot of business to someone. Please don't be someone who negotiates every detail its very tacky! If there is something you really want and you just hadn't budgeted for that, then say you know I budgeted for this. I personally have not told someone this is my price take it or leave it. I say this is what I've budgeted and they either streamline to meet my needs and price or really explain to me what I'm getting for the price and of course I wouldn't be negotiating unless i really wanted it so I take it and if it hurts my budget I work more, or I cut elsewhere. there are alot of vendors here who do great work and give great prices to BDW girls, so I really encourage you to not give them a take it or leave it. they give alot of great advice and input for us and are trying to run a business. I'm not saying its wrong to negotiate, I've negotiated my big ticket items, but have definitely made it worth the vendors time and business.

havianas vs. party flops
Jacilynda replied to Jacilynda's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
havaianas does a discount for any order for events. I haven't heard how much, but I've found havainas much cheaper at swim outlet. I was thinking if party flops were like havainas I would get them, i think personalization is cute, but not dying to have it cause I don't want our names on them. But if they were comfy like havainas then I would get them for price. I was afraid Joe might freak out at the price of havainas. But when he came home I told him and he though havainas were a good idea. We figure when I want flip flops I go to old navy and grab a pair so they seem so regular, and if I got them at a wedding i'd be ok w/ it no complaints, but nothing like getting a pair of havainas! Full price for havainas for us was going to be around $375, but I found them at swim outlet and they'd only cost us around $260. And we're getting a couple pairs for kids and 3 pairs for babies. -

havianas vs. party flops
Jacilynda replied to Jacilynda's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I'm waiting for a reply from havianas. i know they do event discounts so I am checking in on that w/ them too but since I've never had either pair I was hoping I might get lucky and there be a BDW girl who has worn both to compare -
havianas vs. party flops
Jacilynda replied to Jacilynda's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I'm ok w/ price if they're that good. I'm just curious if party flops are nicer than old navy I may go w/ them but only if they're cushier -
I have almost negotiated everything for our wedding! I have budgeted so much less than they offer.... SO much less!!!! they tell me something and I definitely don't have that in the budget and I straight up tell them what I can afford and they either drop their price or offer something else similar for my price.

So I've decided we're going to do flip flops for at least the kids and girls. I'm kinda struggling w/ what to get? I don't want old navy, walmart, target or any cheap flip flops. I like the idea of being able to personalize them such as party flops, but are the flip flops just like flip flops from old navy or target? Or are they nicer like havianas? I want a nice pair for them something they'll ABSOLUtELY LOVE!
