We are staying at the Cannon House so for the ceremony when its my time I can just walk out. I was going to use a wc but i have such a small budget I would have had to pay her $110 so I having been researching and ooking everything on my own and my mother and FMIL will be setting everything up. Cancun is the closest airport. Laura, the owner of the hotel took the pictures. I will do a sort of planning thread later this afternoon and put a bunch of info in it. -
I will let you know my FFIL is very well known microbiology research professor. He has a PhD in microbiology and has several students working on their PhD. He's had a couple girls who were pregnant while going to school and he said its really in the nature of the girl on how she'll do. Its up to you and you only on how determined you want to be. I'm working on my doctorate of pharmacy and this was the speach he gave me last fall when I first got pregnant. I really believe him... of course its harder than doing school w/out being pregnant but can be done. One thing to really consider though is what if you have a really rough pregnancy? I had great professors (mostly because of my FFIL) but i ended up on bed rest for 3 weeks and has my FFIL bring me my school work and then after bedrest had to go in on the weekends to catch up on lab work.

I checked American Airlines who flies direct from LAX to Cabo, but there's a trick to booking (I found out the hard way). 1) BOOK ON A WEDNESDAY. That's when all major airlines have cheaper rates for the week. 2) When you go on the site, Airline Tickets and Airline Reservations from American Airlines | AA.com, instead of going directly to "book a flight", on the left hand side there are tabs. Click on the one that says "Net SAAvers & Special offers", then click on "fare sales". Put in the city to and from, then it will bring up their sale rate. Then I added my 10% group discount** and bought my parents' tickets from LAX to Cabo for $352 for a straight flight!!! OMG I was SO relieved I even bought my sister one just to make sure they booked!! This was just last week. Today, it went down to $339. I called to see if they would do a rate adjustment, but they said they'd charge a $150 change fee (uh, no thanks!). Hope that helps anyone who is still needing to book from LAX. **When you have a group coming from one area, call the airline group rate and they will set you up with a 10% discount. Thanks so much!!! This is great. The closet airport around here that has AA is in SLC (6.5 hours away). I have a lot of friends who still work for the airlines and was able to get buddy passes to slc for $60 and then booked AA to Cancun for $347!

OOT bags,... too much?
Jacilynda replied to pyxystyx's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I think its great! It kind of makes my reception easier, cause we aren't doing favors... people never eat them all or take them all and you're left w/ them. Instead we're doing a nice OOT bag. You can easily find bags around $2 each. We found decent beach mats at big lots for $2 that are going in there. Then make your own welcome book w/ puzzles and info. Add in travel size things that are around $1. You really can do a whole bag for under $10. For me its even cheaper to do a bunch of these than several favors. -

Still waiting for a quote, but I think it will be well within that same budget. Hey ladies! We're holding our ceremony out in front of the Cannon House. There is no fee for using this site since we are having our reception w/ the hotel Akumal Caribe. Here is a picture of the ceremony site...blurry but you get the idea. Then our reception is being held in the North Palapa, or Lol-Ha snack bar. The Lol-Ha Restaurant is catering for us. Everyone has been sent a menu and get to choose what entree they want. Everyone gets ceviche and spinach artichoke dip to start. Then their choice of lime soup, house salad, or caesar salad. Then their choice of Mango chicken, Pork poc Chuk, Tampiquena beef, or grilled pork chops. Then cake for dessert. Our quote included food for 45 people, white linen tablecloths (I'm doing runners and napkins), sound system, and dj equipment (BIL is going to be dj), and the quote was just under $2000, and ceremony sight was free! I just have to pay for chairs and decor. Here's a picture of the Palapa where the reception is: Here's a side of the inside of the Palapa... we'll have the tables around the outside to dance in the middle. This is the bar in the Palapa: The Turtle Bay Cafe is doing our cake. Here is a picture of it... its $300 A wedding can be done on a small budget, I PROMISE!!! -
Traveling with the Wedding Gown
Jacilynda replied to ashakm's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Honestly 98% of flight attendants will hang it in the closet it for you... if not, lay it on top of bags in the overhead bins. You can't guarantee people won't put their bags in them or they might have to do to not having enough room... so i suggest asking and then if you have to lay it on top of the bags. -
After TA stole our money, NO GUEST
Jacilynda replied to BarefootBride's topic in Just venting or funnies
This is absolutely terrible! I would never recommend anyone to use exotic escape.... they've been known in the past to actually scam people's money! My mother used them once and gave them her cc to use... they ended up taking her payment and then every month after that they would take $15 from her cc. It was such a little amount my mom didn't even notice and just paid it for a long time. Fortunately it was her cc so she just called the cc company to notify them of an unauthorized charge. We did some research and found out they had been doing it for quite a while to many people. Could you imagine how much money they would make from taking $15/month from hundreds of people. -

Is American Airlines frustrating anyone else?
Jacilynda replied to Kristy!'s topic in Honeymoon Forum
I used to work for SkyWest and worked regional for Delta and United and all airlines do this.... every year. It's all about business needs and where the business is. We all know that the majority of airlines are either bankrupt or on the verge of being bankrupt. So of course they have to change there schedule do to business cause they need as much as they can get! -

you know there are laws in China about how long you can play the game and then must take a break. Children there have died because they were so into the game they didn't sleep, eat, or drink anything and became very sick.

I'm glad you have it straightened out... your TA will probably never do it again now that you've had to deal w/ this.
-
I would say try mexico... again like said before make sure you find a place you love, or you could try the Bahamas.
-
did you sign anything? Alot of time its in the fine print about changing or upgrading you... and technically most businesses have policies where if you give someone your credit information to use on file they can charge you like that. I would recommend if you ever give your cc info our or debit to advise its for one time use and not to remain on file or they have authority to use it again

My DH is a computer freak... he doesn't play WOW that much but other things... although since we've had a child he doesn't play. He works, comes home plays w/ our daughter and then smokes a cigar. But before.... I was w/ you... he usually didn't even hear me while playing.

I say you should book it. I was a TA for a long time and then worked for an airline before becoming a stay at home mom. That's a great price and if you decide to change the dates but keep the same destination most airlines will only charge $25 for a change fee if they can book the same class. if they can't book the same booking class (eg. U T Y) you'll have the difference in tickets + $25 change fee.
