  1. Congrats and welcome to the forum from a Jamican bride!
  2. I think we are ready.... The storm is supposed to reach us in the next few hrs and then follow through the night into tomorrow afternoon... they are saying anywhere from 12 to 18 inches of snow for my neck of the woods. With the Ice Storm we had lastweek and no power till Tuesday ... the generator is up and ready to be turned on.. food is the best is can be since everything we bad from the last storm. The first part is super fluffy and then the tail end is slush/ice junk... not looking forward to it... espec with the devistation from lastweel... Let's all hope we will be ok!
  3. When in doubt take a poll with my lovely girls!!!! So today my plan was to get the rest of the items for the AHR which is the 17th of Jan out of the way. I kept forgetting about it and then living up here in the Northeast with no power except at work for the past 6 days now....SUCKS!!!! So anyway made sure that everyone knew days ago that today was gonna be the day for the rest of the ordering frenzy for this. Already, I have ordered the camera's for the tables, bubbles (only because they were in aqua colored bubble stuff, so I had too), and now I am on cocktail napkin duty.... Here is my problem though, WHAT DO I USE AS MY SECOND LINE I just can't figure this out and Jay just looked at me like uummmm you think I know?? LOL... I'm leaving it up to you girls... what do you think will work best Amanda & Jason ?
  4. I would say the Flamingo. I have been to a wedding out on the lawn with the gazebo.. it was gorgous. I worked with my GF trying to figure out which place it was going to be cuz we went site hunting. I will agree that Ceasers is really pretty too.. but something about the Flamingo won both of us over. It all just looked so natural and not placed like some of the other hotels we looked at. Depending on the time of year... things can be super reasonable and less than a grand could work. Check out the live streams that the Flamingo has on it's site.. you might have to dig, but you should be able to find every site they have on the property.
  5. YAY .... welcome back and it looked perfect!!! The dress.. wow in the bridal salon pretty... but on the beach... OMFG how gorgous!!!!!!!
  6. Hey Sarah, Since I just recently got married at Beaches Negril, I can tell you this was something that I hated/horrified me about the chain up until I actually got Jamaica. I was beyond worried about how my photos might look since I was unable to bring or use an outside vendor. I tried getting samples, but they don't offer that as they do not ask guests to sign anything to reproduce their images. Seriously though, I am happy with my photos even if they are posey and not the journalistic side I wanted. Check out my thread on my photos... As for bringing in someone and pretending to be a family friend to get around the whole no outside vendor thing... this happened the day before my wedding, They were from the UK and brought someone over to get shots, They invited Jay and I over to watch the ceremony (we had the same location), well Beaches was not too happy... The outside vendor was cutting off the Beaches guy and telling the guests to look at him and not Beaches for particular pictures. Beaches ended up telling the other photog to sit down and let the ceremony finish or he was going to be "released" from the property. YIKES!!
  7. Congrats and welcome to the forum!!
  8. YAY... so perfect... I guess we both have been thinking the same thing... seriously, we think too much alike sometimes... I've made 4 different books.. LOL...
  9. Your in luck.... I ordered 3 8x8 books of our pro pics for xmas presents on Saturday and they are out for delivery today... I just checked once I saw this. It takes no time at all, almost everything from shutterfly is sent to you really quickly. Hope this helps you out!
  10. It's GORGEOUS Gabe!! She is going to flip when the time comes! Congrats on joining us guys and gals. Are you thinking DW?
  11. Totally agree with Rach on this one ... Check out my dress. I had a classic dress and Jay had linen pants and a linen shirt... I thought he looked so handsome.. LOL.. It's the island way ...!
  12. These prices are in conjunction with the resort... soo I imagine they are more because of the resort, and not coming directly from florist. Price Rundown: My Bouquet - 250 My Bm's - 175 The Top flowers on the gazebo - 300 Side flowers on the gazebo - 200 each. I used the flowers for the gazebo as my reception flowers.. they laid perfectly flat and they were just carried over while we were taking our pictures.
  13. Well for me, I actually gave it to the girls before we left. My MOH couldn't actually make it in the end ... but she pulled through with everything else in her duties... sooo I wanted to take her out for dinner before we left... I gave it to her when she came over to the house. My BM that was able to make it down, so I went over to her parents house, (she is still in college away from home) and placed it as a surprise on her bed. This way when she got home from school to pack her stuff up 2 days before she left, she would get a cute surprise.
  14. I don't have a name or anything but Tropical - Local Tropical is what my WC and myself called it. They had nothing for me in the books that I liked... everything seemed like a wedding at home... So my resort called while during our meeting and stressed my tropical flower wants. I was offered different colors, and picked from that. I had no idea, what flowers were going to be used til I got my bouquet 10 minutes before the wedding was to start. My bouquet if I remember right was either 200 or 250... SUPER HIGH... but with all my problems with the silk flower issue.... Jay didn't care how much they were as long as they were what I wanted....
  15. Wholly smokes Celina.... HOW FRIGGING WRONG IS THAT!!!!!! I can't believe it... just crazy! All that money and then no one comes.... Damn them all!!! I am worried bout this too.... ours is Jan 17th (sat) at 1pm til 6pm. I did it during the day because of winters here in Mass and alot more people I thought would come because it's during the day... but my responses are not coming... I have like 30 people so far and the invites went out right after we left for Jamaica. I know I have 3 more weeks left before they are due... but I sent out invites for 147 people.... We have alot of people that are oh so not dependable at all ... Ya know what ... next time to you see people that didn't come ... make sure you talk to someone that did go bout how GREAT it was even if certain people didn't show... LOL... STICK IT RIGHT TO THE MAN!!!
  16. I think it's a great idea, but check with the resort first that it is ok to have silk petals with the wind and dependant on your location, you might also have an eco-friendly resort which doesn't use anything but real......I found out we would be able to use them at our resort, but some do not allow, in the end I did not end up using my silks for the isle as we had a hurricane.... I did use them for the cocktail hr and reception though.
  17. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t32668 I was married at Beaches Negril, and my flowers came from Tia.. you can check out my flowers in my ceremony pro pics. This is the thing... all flowers at any destination are expensive no matter which way you look at it. Everything is imported in and if you want something special it's even more because it's not on the normal shipments that come in. I was orig a Real Touch Silk Flower bride and then gave up on that after some issues with who I was going to use and just waited till we got down to Jamaica to pick flowers then. MY flowers were expensive... but well worth it to have what I wanted...
  18. I would agree with everyone else on this one ... make a CD and let the hotel deal with it .. I would hate to see your money wasted on set up's and moving around with just not enough time for what you had planned. Our wedding was at 3... or I should say 4 because of the hurricane.. I used a CD thank goodness because otherwise I would have been paying a million more for more time. By the time we joined our cocktail hr started it was almost 530. We had that then dinner... all in all, I think everyone started to move back around 9ish .. maybe sooner we had some young ones with us and alot of people were exhuasted. Everyone else up and going was at one of the bars till bout 1130 or so.
  19. Congrats Karen from yet another local!! Can't wait to hear more from you. I agree Boston weddings are crazy $$$$ sooo that's why we did Jamaica.
