Totally lost when trying to plan a wedding
2bebridejamaica replied to shelli_mac's topic in Newbies!!
Congrats and welcome to the forum... it will all be ok.. we are ALWAYS HERE TO HELP!! Your in luck too ... I am a recent Beaches Bride at Negril... you need anything just let me know, espec since your thought on Nov it's when I got married. -
I wore what I think was an elbow length veil.... I'm 5'2 on a good day.. it was more than long enough for me without feeling I was engulfed in tule and mine was low on my head Since your wearing your hair half up and the veil would be higher towards the top, I would maybe think fingertip... Prob the best bet is just try on a few with your hair in the idea of what you want... this way you can get the full effect without worrying you made the right choice.

Anyone working with Tai Flora?
2bebridejamaica replied to bashigyal's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
OOOOO Fantasy Florial was awesome when I talked with them in the begining stages of our wedding search. I was married at a resort that would not allow outside vendors and even with that said I still checked into other local florists in the Negril area... just to see about pricing differences and if it was worth it to take a cab and pick up my items... Then I tried the silk route which did not go at all as planned... (you can find a thread on that one) Eventually with only a few weeks till my wedding I just ended up using who the hotel uses .. which is Tia Floral... I loved my flowers that were provided.. but I am still thinking on the possible idea of what they would have been like if Floral Fantasy was like. I guess it's you never know... Def email Floral though and you can get a vibe from that ... or give them a call ... I think they may have an 800 number... they are quick to respond back and very nice. -
Am I not seeing the big picture?
2bebridejamaica replied to Kristy621's topic in Just venting or funnies
I agree with this totally.... don't let it get you down... it's all about getting there and being with your hubby to be. I had a huge breakdown when 2 of my girls backed out of coming.. one still I have even talked with since her decision to not even tell me and the travel agent let me know. Planning a DW is always a roller coaster ride... Just enjoy it! I had 13 people come and I couldn't have cared less once we got down to Jamaica bout the other people... It was perfect! -
Are you having a bridal shower?
2bebridejamaica replied to Myda77's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
As already having my shower I am going to agree with Mrs E on this one. I was unsure on how much if or why I wanted to be the center of attention of something. The people that came already spent more than enough to be in Jamaica.. why have a shower for them to think they now need to dish out more. Jay's mom said we needed to registar somewhere because people were already asking for ideas on things because they could not find us in any store. Jay and I bought our house 2 years ago... I have been living on my own since I was 19... so we had everything we needed. Granted some of my stuff is ancient because it was orig my grandparents .. but I liked it like that.. But it was def time to retire somethings. So on a long day trip to BBB and Target I actually found somethings... totally not conventional at all .. but I added things you always need or just won't spend the money on even if it is 20 bucks. So we put down a new camping tent, canopy, a "big" boy sleeping bag for our son, organizers for closets, small kitchen gagets for the drawer, and a folding card table to name a few. Yes, we bought new dishes.. but they are only Corelle.. no China here.. just added for a set of 12 (3 boxes) 2 to keep out now and then 1 to save for when we needed more for a holiday or breakage. I ended up with 2 showers .. my surprise family(Jay's side) one which was at Nana's retirement home (she had been sick the week before so they changed venues becasue this shower was for her to see is and also enjoy the day). Everything was decorated pretty simple and I had about 13 people. This was my old school shower, that as far as they were concerned I needed to have because that's what you do for a bride local or destination. My second shower, was by my MOH and I had 8 people for that. It was all my local friends and we hung out at my MOH's house again some balloons and the best damn flamingos I have ever seen in my life... they dance and shake to the music. It was all about hanging out really... It was classified before the day was out ... my Naughty and Nice shower... we played some silly games, which turned into drinking games, and then everyone bought me new unmentionables. Who cares who comes to your shower and if you end up with only 5 people... enjoy the day of being a bride.. it's a special day for you and to celebrate all things you and your soon to be hubby! Size really doesn't apply as long as you have fun! LOL -
beach ready shoes...
2bebridejamaica replied to boscobel's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I went with a pair of big wedge flip flips from Vicki's for height since I didn't want to chop a ton off my dress... I think they were over 3 inches... they worked out great on the sand but we had a hurricane close by and the sand was more packed down on what beach parts were even available... I have a cute pair of strappies for my AHR which is in a few weeks.. but I think I'm going with my Wedges for comfort again! -

Cake topper: Yay or Nay?
2bebridejamaica replied to Myda77's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I am an etsy buyer from Little Lynns Creations... check out my pic you will be see my topper and look for my thread along with all the other girls that ordered from Lynn. Lynn was just all out WONDERFUL Amazing!!!! She can do pretty much everything till you think its right... my cake dress matched perfectly to my real dress... and my hubby absolutely loved himself... with his nappy hair ... and how skinny he was.. LOL.. I kept it a secret of what it looked like because of my dress... but at the reception when he saw it ... he loved it and it was worth every penny in his eyes. It's already up and in a Shadow Box Jay made just for it to put up on the wall with our little wedding items that mean the most. -
Congrats and welcome to the forum Ashley!!!

Is the water safe to drink in Jamaica?
2bebridejamaica replied to FLgator's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Most of the resorts have their own water filtration plants... they are hidden but they all have them due to the amounts of water they use. So yes, you can drink the water at your resort... just not off the resort. -
Congrats and welcome to the forum!!!

Cannons are awesome and all of the cameras I have really enjoyed have been them. I just bought my mother in law a new one for xmas... go to buy.com You will find tons of Cannons super cheap... and they show you the rest of the pricing in other stores/online even with shipping to be cheaper than anywhere else. I trust buy.com totally ... I have bought computers, phones, cameras, batteries, toys, you name it ... my latest Cannon is the SD1100 like everyone else and I love it!!!

Oh this was sooo hard for me... but I used my bouquet as an arrangement when we switched places for our HM. You can't bring live flowers home through customs. they will snag you if you try and bring them. I did the best I could in keeping them as fresh as possible for the rest of the week after the wedding... and hated to leave them.. but I took tons of pictures and look at them all the time. My AHR is in a few weeks and I will get to have my flowers all over again... super excited about this ... once that is done... I am going to have them pressed the following days after that and put it to be framed in our bedroom. Search the treads more info on this

AHR Menu Help????
2bebridejamaica replied to happygilmore's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
For our AHR which is in just a few weeks.... we have planned the following: Cocktail Hr- Cheese and Cracker tray with vegetable cruditès Dinner- Soup, Salad, Choice of Prime Rib or Chicken Statler, along with Baby Carrots Vichy, and or Green Bean Almondine, with a rice Pilaf. Dessert - wedding cake along with a treat station -
It doesn't really matter when you decide on having your AHR... some do it right away once they get back and others wait a few months or more til the weather is better in your region to have something relaxed and outdoors. I was married on Nov 8th this year and our AHR is scheduled in a few weeks on Jan 17, 09. No way did we want to compete with people and the holidays... trying to fit everything in ones schedule this time of year is just nuts.... Jan we picked because it is the time of big let down (I guess) Christmas is now gone... and people don't have much to do in Jan... slow month for everyone. Living up here in the Northeast... Winter plays a huge part in how people schedule things.. we opted for an afternoon reception (No one likes to drive at night... nevermind if it's snowing) at a resturant that has a ballroom. Since it's Jan super cheap.. and this year we helped them decide on a Beach Party for New Years Eve... sooo I get to use all the decorations for my reception free.
