I went with a veil even when I didn't think I wanted one. Once my dress was on and the shop gave me a bunch of accessories to try on.. I knew I had to have it. It made everything seem so complete and real. Granted with the hurricane I had it all over my face... but the pictures of me with it on... LUV them. Do you have your dress yet? Or r u just thinking ahead??

Beaches Negril Bride
2bebridejamaica replied to Nov-09-Bride's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Actually the hurricane (Paloma) came in the day before the wedding and the day of the wedding... Day before was the worst with Downpours and rain and then the day of the wedding it was farther out away from the coast with small sprinkle showers. The begining part of Nov is really a complete and total crap shoot if you will end up with a hurricane .. they really really don't happen all that often because it's the end of the season and if they do they are on the opposite side of the island before they hit Negril. We wanted Jamaica as it's warmest without the hurricanes and November seemed best for us ... Plus I really had a thing for November 8th we were engaged on Dec 8th and international calendar posting of the date looks like this .... 08-11-08.. LOL.. yes I know cheesy. -
Congrats and welcome to the forum from a past Jamaican Bride!!!! Jamaica is great as also is Turks... we couldn't decide on which Beaches we wanted but then ended up in Jamaica because of the Negril sunsets. If you are having children along... I just wanted to say... the "locals" were actually very nice about not saying a word about the "drug" pushing. They asked if we wanted Cigarettes... Maybe that was just at Beaches but these "locals" actually had to get to you walk towards them right into the water almost for any questions or offerings.

Congrats and welcome to the forum! I was married at Beaches Negril (largest of the three resorts below) and we had couples stay at Sandals Negril and another family stay at Beaches Sandy Bay(smallest property). They are all only about 5 minutes from each other and have transportation back and forth to each site for free. This way everyone had something in their own price range for rooms and private time. Since it's all the same ..no worries about day passes or extra charges ... everything was included for our guests when they stopped over to our resort. It was great and our guests loved Negril.

Beaches Negril Bride
2bebridejamaica replied to Nov-09-Bride's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Our Weather was perfect ... warm about 82 I think. But with the hurricane it seemed a bit warmer than normal and the humidity was higher than normal..I am fine with both as we get alot of the same feeling in the summer here in Mass. On our wedding day even with the mist of rain and it being super humid... surprisingly enough I was not bad in my dress... I had a full formal dress... BUT it the over layer was all in Chiffon so I think that saved me along with the petticoat keeping my legs from sticking to my dress. -
Did anyone by OOT bag stuff in Jamaica?
2bebridejamaica replied to jenjoe08's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Well I am the minorty on this one. I actually gave everyone their bags a few days before we left or when I knew I was going to be able to see them before we left. This way I had wayyy more room for all the stuff I was bringing down and everyone would not have double of everything and could bring down what they really wanted. However since I had tshirts and the boys had hats.. I made a little checklist to please bring these items with you. As for local goodies things I did pick up down in Jamaica like it was metioned above I used floral fantasies too they were perfect. -
SOLD: Maggie Sottero Dress, SD3008
2bebridejamaica replied to Virg's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
OH MY Oh MY Virg!!! This was the dress I wanted sooo bad when it first came out .. maybe you remember but no one had it within even a 200 mile radius for me to even look at. Granted my day is done and over with .. I was horribly looking forward to see you in it.. Cheesy I know but I totally thought about you and this dress the other day and had to check when your day was again.. LOL... BUT if your having dreams where it's talking to you ... then don't do it.. Find another dress pronto. I thought you looked amazing in it .. again just me. -
I didn't use any real formal invite for our DW either. We knew we only wanted a small group of people and we told the ones we wanted in person and then emailed them all the info about our TA and such. For me this way made sense because then well, I didn't have a real piece of paper for the ones in question. As for our AHR which was 2 months after our wedding... I had my gf who couldn't make it Jamaica drop off the formal invites in the mail while we were in Jamaica. We just recently had our AHR and 100 people came... our invites had the wording of .. " we are getting ready to depart and this is only the start... Amanda and Jay will be married on Nov 8 in Negril... please join us when we return for a celebration reception in Jan".. you get the drift... this way anyone in question that seemed left out because they did not go to Jamaica or were not asked... makes it seem like we just had family which we did and wanted to keep it small. As for 2 ... I can totally relate ... this actually was my mother in all senses you are saying about your FI's dad... and I have not talked with her in years... but she did find out about our plans through someone else and said she was coming ... This never happened even though she had told people she was coming. Thank god ... but I think it's more of a cover for some ... to make it look like the are coming and not show... almost a pride issue because it is a son/daughter thing and they know they are being left out. It added stress for me... but in the end I had my day and no signs of my mother.

WOW you looked gorgous and glowing like crazy!!! Such a perfect dress for you and your girls... YAY to the Mrs. -
Congrats and welcome Maisy!!! We went with Beaches for our wedding because we have a 6 yr old and wanted to make this expierence as special as possible for him and really it was a no brainer and the best choice we could have made for all of our family. We also had a small wedding with 13 people total. Beaches is totally kids and in our party we had our 2 nephews too who are 4 and 8. The 3 kids went off to kids camp at least once a day. The activites are all age related and split into groups. My sons favorites were making Wizard Wands, Pirate Bandanas, and hanging out with Zoey for a dance party on the beach. Beaches for adults is amazing too ... with the spa, the sports complex, and adult entertainment at night we were always busy with something. They also have in room nannies available to you. We didn't need them but they are the same people the kids interact with at Kids Camp so it's not a stranger to them when you leave for the night. Like you said ... it did feel odd and I cried my eyes out the day that my son was leaving with my in laws back for the states and we were staying 5 more days to MH... but I knew he was taken care of and actually he was fine with it all ... he couldn't wait to get back on the plane. Anything is possible and it's your day... enjoy it in a place you really want and everything else will fall into place. Hope this helps and there is never a right or wrong answer when it comes anything DW on here.. we are always ready to help!!

The do's and the dont's
2bebridejamaica replied to Christinamaria22's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
As for me... I had 13 people join us for our day along with the same size wedding party. Since it was all family that came down to Jamaica, even though I wanted to do a program, I really didn't think it was needed. To fill the void of no program I went with making the raffia fans with our names and wedding date as an extra favor and a pop of color on the chairs. So in the end I madea flyer for the day of the wedding and passed them out either the night before to our guests as they went to bed or at breakfast. My flyer had everything going on that day and where and when we would be along with names of the wedding party at the top. The were half size flyers because I wanted to make sure they fit nicely in a scrapbook or photo album. That might be something for you too ... If you want them then do them.. It's your day and you are the bride.. no one can take that away from you! -

Beaches Negril Bride
2bebridejamaica replied to Nov-09-Bride's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
YAY.. that's me!!! I am sooo excited for you to be choosing Beaches Negril as I have been the first BDW bride so far Nov/08. We have tons of girls who have just arrived to the forum joining in on the bandwagon for Beaches Negril. It was a truely amazing expierence all around and Avia the wedding captian (not the wedding coordinator.. but I can go into that later)...will handle everything for you on your wedding day and day after. We had our son 6 and two nephews 4 and 8 who were with us for the big day. Your children are going to go wild with the thought that EVERYTHING is available to them with just a drop of hat. The kids camp is wonderful, Noah loved making Wizard Wands, Pirate Bandanas, and taking a dance class with Zoey. Oh I really could go on forever, but if you have any questions please PM me.
