Haha people would always say that to me as well since Im barely 5ft tall. As for a dress I went with a short option as well. I like the tradition long ones but they just seemed to over power me since im very petite all around. Im also having a barefoot ceremony but am going to buy some kick butt shoes to show off at the reception!heres my dress

I also remember my mom telling me that the middle finger ment shut up lol

this thread is so funny! The only one I can remember off hand right now is that my mom used to tell me that pork chops were just "special white steak" since I was such a picky eater but loved steak. It wasnt till I was in high school that I realized she had been tricking me the whole time.

Im interested! Please PM me if they are still available.

Do yours play favorites too? Thanks they are our babies! mine do play favorites as well. my boy storm loves the FI and sable is more attached to me. Funny you should mention foster cats because I happen to have the MOST adorable foster babies right now! these poor kittens were found by my aunt after their mom got run over she did the right thing rescuing them but didnt have the time to care for 2 six week old babies and had just been leaving them in a room by themselves all day. So I took them and am currently trying to find a place for them. The FI was originally mad but now he wants to keep them but Im not sure we can handle 4 cats in our townhouse so right now we are just enjoying them and figuring out what to do. I got to post some pics they are too cute to miss! This is the boy hops this is Islay his sister

Making it legal...
bridetobe959 replied to bridetobe959's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
thanks for the advice girls! I think sometimes DW are hard for families, especially parents, because they have this traditional wedding vision in their heads for their children. Hopefully my family and the FI's mom will see where we are coming from and not make a big deal out of it. -
wow those came out really big! sorry Im not sure how to resize!

This thread is great! I love seeing everyone's pets! Here are mine. I have 2 siamese cats that we rescued. they started out as shy feral kittens but have turned into the most wonderful loving cats! here is my girl sable this is my boy storm on top of the FI these are my favorites. storm just loves my FI and when ever he decides to nap on the couch storm always likes to join him!

Im sorry but I fully agree with tammy in that your FI is being very immature. You should not have to give up an animal you love so much. Im sure if he had a companion you would accept it even if you didn't really care for it. On the other hand if you need to find a home for your kitty you might want to do a search in your area for pet adoption groups. Usually they are run by volunteers who rescue pets that are unwanted, stray, or in high kill shelters an then place them in loving homes. It may take them a few weeks to find a place but at least the kitty wont end up with the risk of being euthanized at a shelter.

so heres the story... my fI and I will be having our wedding in cabo but we decided to get legally married in california first. The problem is that my family is here and they want to come to the legal part (which is just going to be us signing papers nothing fancy in fact we are just going to be wearing our everyday clothes) and when my FIs mom got wind of it she decided that she wanted to fly down from Maryland to see it because she feels " thats when we really get married". At first I was ok with this but the more I thought about it I feel like its going to take away from our actual wedding in cabo. The way I see it is the cabo wedding will be when i truly am married and since we are paying all this money for everyone to come down and see us married in cabo the last thing I want is for my family and my FIs mom to think that when we got married was at a city hall. So my question is has anyone else had this issue? I feel bad telling my family and FIs mom we dont want them there but I feel like its the right thing for us. Any advice would be helpful!

I agree very interesting thread. I am a full time student but work weekends at a bar in Los Angeles. I make approx 60K a year depending on how many extra shifts I pick up. I hate bartending but its great to do while Im in school because of the flexibility. Thankfully when I start nursing school next august I will be done with it since I plan to focus all my attention on getting through that

I have noticed perimart mentioned a few time. I checked out their site and the prices look almost too good to be true. Ive been considering getting another wedding dress since Im having second thoughts on mine. perimart would be the perfect option for me to get something without the guilt of feeling like I spent a ton of money on something I already had. If anyone could give me some feedback on this site I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Ring exchange without a wedding party?
bridetobe959 replied to ~*Kathy*~'s topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
My FI and I were having the same problem since we have no wedding party either. We have decided that we will either give them to our best friends who we chose as our unofficial best man and man of honor (my best friend is a male) so they can be involved in the wedding. Our second choice is to give them to my grandfather who will be performing the ceremony. -
our plans are as follows: Tuesday may 19:[/b] the FI and I arrive in cabo san lucas to meet with our coordinator and photographer. My "man of honor" will also be arriving with us to help out. Wednesday May 20: My parents and my FILs arrive and we will probably go to dinner since they will be meeting for the first time. Thursday May 21: the rest of the guests arrive. Im sure we will spend most of the day relaxing and getting settled but Im sure the younger guests will want to hit the town with us Friday May 22: we have a wedding rehearsal at 5pm and then will have the rehearsal dinner with everyone at Lorenzillos in the marina. Saturday may 23: the big day! Me, My mom, FMIL,FSIL and my "man of honor" will be getting massages, facials, the works. the wedding will be at 530 with the reception dinner following at 730. after Im sure we will be going out to the bars to celebrate. Sunday may 24: nothing planned just relaxing! Monday may 25: check out and back to reality!

welcome this site has so much to offer! -
Does anyone know any registry sites that will allow you to put on just gift cards? My FI and I have been living together for 2 years now and really dont have anything that we really need(except for a kitchen aid stand mixer I want one so bad!) but within the next 2 years we will be buying our first home. what we could really use is gift cards for places like lowe's,home depo, bed bath and beyond and places like that so we can use them in the future for the house. any help would be great thanks!

does anyone know or have used any good places that they can recommend? Im having my wedding in cabo and want to have an AHR for friends in the Los Angeles area (we live in marina del rey) that cant make it but heres the catch...my FI and I are brewers so we need a venue that will allow us to bring our own alcohol. so far every place but one has said no and we are not crazy about the location of that one. our budget limit for renting a venue is 3000 to 4000 if that helps with any recommendations. Thanks!!

Kids not invited to AHR; Is this rude?
bridetobe959 replied to Mrs. Martin's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
We are doing the same thing for our AHR. My FI is a brewer and we have a few friends that are brewing some kegs of beer specifically for us so we both agreed that it would be best for everyone to leave the kids at home. our DW is also adults only. we ran the idea by our few friends that have kids just to make sure we wouldn't lose anyone because of this and they were all thrilled to have a vacation by themselves! -
First Dance - Whats your song??
bridetobe959 replied to meagan's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
Our first dance song will be "is this love" by Bob Marley. I know its a bit odd for a first dance song but we both love the song and how its a bit more upbeat. -
Show us your wedding dress!
bridetobe959 replied to Jennifer's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
my dress for my beach wedding next may in cabo. I wasnt too keen on it when I saw it in the store but when I tried it on it was perfect. Im only 5 feet tall so most of the dresses I tried on looked like i was swimming in them. -
My maid of honor is a man? LoL….
bridetobe959 replied to Krose82's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Im doing the EXACT same thing! My best friend of 12 years is a man and is also gay. I have some close girlfriends but none can even compare to the friendship that we have shared so I really even think about it. He will be dressed exactly like the rest of the groomsmen but he will be on my side during the ceremony. I was actually surprised but I got no flack from any of my family or my FI's. apparently this is becoming much more common my mom even said that she was just at a wedding where the best man was the grooms female best friend. heck there was even a movie made about it lol
