I am having some similar issues. My sister is my MOH and has been awesome...she is very excited and is almost done paying for her travel. My 2 best friends, however (my 2 BMs) were not excited for me when I called them the night of my engagement, and have not brought up or acknowledged that fact that I am getting married since). One of them has the worst problems with guys and the other has dated a loser for the past 8 years and doesn't believe in happily ever after...so apparently, I'm the one who gets to deal with it, since I have found an amazing man who I want to spend the rest of my life with. If it would make you happy and less stressed out, I would say just have them come to the wedding (if they will) and sit with the rest of your guests. It is not worth you being unhappy on your day just because they can't put their own issues out of the way to be happy for you. Good luck!!

I did hear about this last night. I hope she is ok. So sad.

Neither sets of my grandparents and one set of FI's grandparents are not able to come to the wedding. Some of them because of the cost, but some because they are simply not up for the travel. This has been very hard for us, as our family is SOO important to us. We have decided to make our legal ceremony (in NC before we leave) as a special day for only our grandparents to be involved with. We aren't doing anything huge, but will take a day in the park to have our legal ceremony done with them there with us and then plan to take them to lunch to celebrate with just them. It isn't the same as having them at the DW, but at least we can share that time with them and hopefully they will feel special since they have all been such a big part of our lives!!

Very cool! You will have to share a pic of how yours turn out

Not sure if you have to do it before, but we are. Our ceremony in the DR is considered a "vow renewal" so we are having our legal ceremony before. So when we go to the DR and have the symbolic ceremony, our marriage will be legal and blessed. We are not making a big deal about the legal ceremony at home, other than inviting our grandparents to watch since they can't make it to the DW. There are vows that have to be said at the legal ceremony, but you can have your own special vows that you say at the DW if that would make it more special to you. Good luck!

Facebook has really stepped up their privacy recently. I have been on it since college, so when all of my colleagues just started joining, I decided that I needed some privacy from them (not that I do things online that I wouldn't want them to see - but I don't want my friends to make inside jokes on my wall that may seem inappropriate to the GM of my organization, if you know what I mean). You can go through and set things that you don't want specific people to see, like your pictures, wall, status updates - pretty much everything. I like facebook better than myspace because it seems easier to navigate and safer, but it is odd to me to hear all the talk about it now, when I have been on it for like 5 years now! Good luck.

Who hosts the bridal shower?
KatyKo replied to meghanmbm's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I think whatever you feel is right is how your friends/family should do it. I'm not going to judge someone because their sister or Mother wants to throw them a shower. In my case, my sister is my MOH... My FI's Mom and Aunt are throwing me a shower, then my Aunts and Grandmother want to throw me one. I thought my friends might enjoy throwing me one, but I don't know if they will or not. I think it would be nice to have a few, but I just want the punch that is involved with showers...YUM!! haha -
I am not above 5'10", I'm 5'8" but I have this problem as well. I have found some long jeans at Buckle, they are just so expensive, for me anyway. I have a 34 1/2" inseam and struggle with even the jeans that are long enough when I buy them seem to shrink while they hang in my closet. I never dry any pants or long sleeve shirts, but after wearing them a few times, they seem to get shorter. I have just pretty much given up at this point (I don't have the money to shop at all) so I just stick with the ballet flats and 3/4 length sleeves. Not even my winter coat sleeves are long enough for me.

Welcome to the forum from another NC girl! I'm getting married in the DR, but I have lived in the Piedmont of NC my whole life.

This is something that makes me so angry. I am 25 and have never been pregnant, or even overweight and I have these all over my legs...well at least it seems like it. I try so hard to stay in shape, yet in the summer, I barely wear shorts or skirts because of these things. I just had sclerotherapy tested on me recently. The doctor injected a few just to make sure it would work on me (free of charge) and I am scheduled to go back in a month to do the full procedure. The whole thing is going to cost me about $250. I have them behind both of my knees, and some on my outer thighs. I hate them. It was definitely uncomfortable. I think the worst part for me, though, is the tape they put on afterward. If you go, get some spanx to put on to keep pressure on the areas so they don't have to put the tape on. I will definitely be taking a pair when I get the full procedure done. Good luck ladies!

I dressed 80s for a party once. I bought a bright teal sweatshirt that was too big...so I cut down the sleeves (to make it smaller) and hooked it together with big safety pins. I also work huge earrings, my hair in a side ponytail, one sparkly purple mesh glove (haha), white leggings and my stilettos. It was really cute You have to post a pic, you know how us BDW ladies are about pics!!

So I went to Sephora Last Night for a Makeup Consultation....
KatyKo replied to ~*Kathy*~'s topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
I think your skin looks so beautiful when you look natural, I really don't think you will have to do much. I would just play with what you have and take some pictures so you can see what it will look like in your photos. Maybe if you have a friend that is good at makeup they can help? I think staying natural is definitely the way to go though! Good luck -
AHR Favor Ideas, Help!
KatyKo replied to Mishi's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
A lot of the girls are having beach themed AHRs and some girls are using a different theme for them. If the bride has a cool theme that she likes, then it honestly doesn't have to "match" the actual wedding. I'm getting married in the DR...and I'm having a rustic country AHR with antique mason jars, wildflowers, lemonade and low country boil. So get creative! Good luck -
I think that it is hard to keep on yourself when it is cold and icky outside. Don't fret over the weight you have gained, just focus on the goal. You still have time to get where you want to be. Start eating healthy and once the weather starts to warm a bit, it will be more motivation for you. Good luck!

I am actually looking for some mini burlap sacks to use for my AHR (to put peanuts in as a goody for our guests) but I am having a hard time finding those as well. I will probably end up just buying some burlap material and make them myself. Good luck on your search..let me know if you find some

Post your BD photo shoes!
KatyKo replied to Kristy!'s topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I got mine at Girls', Juniors' Clothing & Fashion Accessories at Charlotte Russe for $24.99. They worked out really well. I may use them for some bridal shots too. They aren't exactly comfy, so I will definitely have something else for the wedding/reception. Good luck -
So I posted a while back that I was awaiting news about an offer we put on a house...here is the original thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t33349 So I am about to leave work and meet FI at the law firm to close on the house. I wish I had pictures to share, but I don't have any on this PC. I will have to put some up later. We are sooo excited! It was a bit of a long process, first with finding a home we could grow old together in and then actually getting it to be ours! But today is the day!! I'm so excited--I can't stand it!! :) It needs some good TLC, but I am ready to dive in and make it our own. Thanks for all the good BDW vibes you ladies put out there when I was freaking out about our offer being accepted!
