  1. Welcome to the Forum...you came to the right place!
  2. I think that guys just don't really understand why/how women can get so addicted to this stuff! Hopefully they appreciate how much work we're doing for everything though
  3. I'm thinking the same thing too...plus I'm horrible at keeping secrets, and even worse at lying. I'm afraid someone is going to ask us about the legal requirements to get married in Mexico and I'll be like...uhhhh...uhhh... Help!
  4. Happy Birthday Lindsay! Hope you had a great 4 day weekend!
  5. Some of them had shirts made with a description of the dress they were looking for so that when they went to make trades, it would be obvious what they wanted. Some people carried signs that would say "strapless" and the size or something. It looked like craziness to me! I would freak out. But the deals are amazing, so if you can handle it, it's SO worth it!
  6. Congrats and welcome!

    Hello

    Congratulations! Welcome to the Forum!
  10. Wow! What a difference. You're amazing for even thinking to do that...it looks gorgeous!
  11. Congratulations! There are many pros and cons to each type of wedding. I think the biggest difference is the number of people that will attend...would you prefer a smaller wedding and have certain people you feel you need to invite, but don't really want them there? Or do you want a big wedding with everyone in the world who is important to you there? The hardest thing about destination weddings is accepting the fact that some people won't be able to make it. Also, weddings at home tend to be a bit more stressful because you have more details to worry about. The setting of a destination wedding is usually gorgeous enough to take care of itself, and you don't have to worry as much about decorations etc. I could go on and on...really I think you just have to do what feels right in your gut!
  12. I was planning on sending out the STD about 12-13 months before the wedding, with no RSVP - it's mostly for an FYI for everyone, and to make sure they know what's going on. I think the STD will have the wedding website on it so they can go on and book their trip etc if they want. The formal invitations I guess will go out 6-8 months before? I'm not sure what RSVP deadline to put on them - I think the 4 month one is a good idea so we can have a good estimate but I have a feeling some of our guests will be relatively last minute. It's so hard for people to commit sometimes!
  13. I would only worry about the people you absolutely NEED to be there (i.e. parents, best friend, etc). If you give enough notice, everyone who cares about you will try as hard as they can to make it. The others...oh well! It's impossible to accomodate every single person on your guest list. The key is the amount of notice you give I think.
  14. Welcome to the forum! I chose Cabo for the amazing weather and because I know my guests will love it there. I'm leaning towards the Imperial Suite at the Fiesta Americana because of the privacy, but I know that Dreams is a popular choice (and all of the pictures I've seen of Dreams weddings are beautiful!). It depends on what your budget is and what your priorities are... I'm sure everyone on here will be glad to help! Heather
  15. Welcome Kerry! I'm planning our wedding for Cabo too - great choice!
  16. Great review Michelle. I'm also using Maye (it's the only thing I've actually booked so far) so now I'm a bit nervous, as her emails do seem to point to her being a bit confused...but hopefully I can keep her focused and make her confirm things back to me. The last thing I need to do is worry about my co-ordinator...I hired her so that I won't have to worry so much! I was going to go with Tara Null but I emailed her weeks ago and haven't gotten a response. That does not work for me!
  17. Exactly! Figuring out the finances of it all is going to be a pain though! But totally worth it.
  18. I've checked it somewhat...but I don't want to have the reception at the Riu. I don't love the look of it, and also, I want something different for my guests. I want the wedding to be different from every other night that we're there, know what I mean? Plus I'd rather have it somewhere where it's a little bit more private. I know it's so much cheaper to do it there, but....
  19. Well the AI prices at Dreams are so much higher than at the Riu, and I'm trying to keep the costs down for our guests (plus the cheaper it is, the more friends will be able to attend). Plus I've also heard that the Riu is a bit more of a party place than Dreams (I've been to the Riu and had a great time, but I haven't been to Dreams yet), and our guests will definitely be filled with partiers. If I could get Dreams for the same/similar price as the Riu for my guests, I would definitely consider it! You're right though...$85 per guest might add up to $4500 quicker than I think! Hmmmm....
