  1. I think it would be quicker for me to list what we're doing that IS traditional instead of what isn't

Out of your hotel list from a week ago, here are my comments in CAPS: Affinia Dumont New York - IT NICE & COMFOTABLE, BUT FOR ME, NOTHING TOO SPECIAL Four Seasons Hotel New York - VERY NICE.. LOOKING @ OVER $700 / NIGHT PROBABLY Hotel Gansevoort - THIS IS STILL GOOD< BUT I THINK IT CAN BE CONSIDERED 'LAST YEAR'; IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THIS KIND OF HOTEL, LOOK @: BOWERY HOTEL (DOWNTOWN) EMPIRE HOTEL (LINCOLN CENTER) GILD HALL (DOWNTOWN) SIX COLUMBUS (COLUMBUS CIRCLE) HOTEL ON RIVINGTON (LOWER EAST SIDE) DUANE STREET HOTEL (TRIBECA) ANY OF THE THOMPSON HOTELS (A FEW THROUGHOUT NYC) Mandarin Oriental Hotel - SUPER PRICEY BUT OF COURSE REALLY NICE.. STAYING THERE NEXT WEEKEND FOR WORK, ACTUALLY! Marriott Marquis (still need to throw it in there) VERY TOURISTY & CONVENTION HOTEL BUT IT WORKS & LOCATION IS PERFECT Sofitel Hotel - IT NICE, BUT THAT'S JUST IT FOR ME. W Times Square - VERY TRENDY.. BUT A LITTLE MUCH MAYBE.. W'S IN NYC ARE NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE WITH ALL THE BOUTIQUE / INDEPENDENT HOTEL DEVELOPMENTS HERE. A COUPLE OTHER OPTIONS: CARLTON HOTEL NY (GRAMERCY PARK) GRAMERCY PARK HOTEL (GRAMERCY PARK) GREENWICH HOTEL (WEST VILLAGE) - NTO SURE IF THIS OPENED JUST YET THOUGH LONDON HOTEL (MIDTOWN) - THIS HOTEL I LOVE!! ROOMS ARE AWESOME & BIG! ALSO IF YOU'RE CONSIDERING FOUR SEASONS & MANDARIN ORIENTAL, YOU MIGHT AS WELL CHECK OUT THE PLAZA AS IT JUST REOPENED AGAIN IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR & IT'S SO NY! HOPE THIS HELPS YOU! I just stayed at the Hotel on Rivington when I was in NYC 2 weeks ago and I LOVED it there! Not sure if you're into the Lower East Side, but I thought it was a great area. There is so much going on around there right now!
  3. Very common in Europe I think, but I've never seen them in a hotel before. Just hostels. But I've only been to NYC 3 times so maybe there are some hotels that have them that I don't know about...?
  4. Hmmm, I've never heard of that anywhere other than in hostels. Are you thinking of WC's (water closets)? That's the only other word I know for "bathroom" (other than the loo, haha).
  5. Washroom and bathroom are the same thing We use both interchangeably up here.
  6. Awww Calia, I'm so sorry to hear that So sad. Big hugs!
  7. Ooooh I love all of the dresses! The white strapless one is amazing...I want it. You're going to look so cute!
  8. The last I remember hearing, it was $13,500 for the buyout, but it might have changed. Have you checked in the Cabo Accommodation and Site section? I know there are some threads in there about Sunset Da Mona Lisa...
  9. Ouch! That sounds super painful. I have no clue how to heal it. I'm thinking moisturize...maybe Aloe...is that dumb?
  10. I agree with Morgan - just do it. Besides, who really cares if your mother considers you married? As long as the two of you consider yourselves committed to each other, that's all that really matters. We aren't doing a religious ceremony either and thank goodness we haven't gotten any crap about it from anyone! We both come from pretty non-religious families.
  11. Ha, tell me about it He has a lot of muscle for a little 27 pound guy, and he pulls while we're running so I have to yank him - I consider it a pretty good arm workout too Haha. I'm hoping to get up early tomorrow for another run (by myself this time...)
  12. Amy that is SO helpful...especially the cardio thing (15 elliptical, 15 treadmill, 15 elliptical) - I think I totally need to do that too. I get really really antsy if I do any one type of cardio for too long. I'm totally going to try that! And you're right about working hard at the gym...some days are better than others for me, but for sure there is the odd day where I just go through the motions. Not sure if there's even a point then! Thanks for the info
  13. What's your budget? If you've only gotten one quote, I suggest getting more. If you find a TA you like, they can hopefully match the lowest price you find (if you find it somewhere else).
  14. I'm using the group department at the Flight Centre. Not sure if they're just in Canada though?

  16. Also check Travel Deals: Airfare, Vacations, Cruises, and More | Travelzoo - they release the top 20 travel deals every Wednesday - I just got the new ones in my email this morning. Sometimes they have amazing deals on there!
  17. Ooooh that's so romantic and sweet! Good idea to start planning early though...there are SO many options that it's overwhelming!
  18. I always find the best deals on Expedia too. But I've never tried to use a TA for a last minute thing so that might work too!
  19. I love orange and blue together! And I love orange flowers. My main colour is orange with light blue (tiffany blue) accent. I think your aisle inspiration pic is really pretty!
  20. Lisa (Chiquita) - November 5, 2008 Lindsay (seaprincess) - January 28, 2009 Sorcha (townie princess) - June 12, 2009 Heather (*Heather*) - October 22, 2009
  21. Crap! I have no super-walmarts around here. I'll have to keep my eyes out and maybe ask my mom to check next time she goes grocery shopping in the US (they live really close to the border)... Thanks
  22. Josh does this mean you're newly engaged? Or were you always engaged? If it's new, congrats! Our wedding is kinda non-traditional, but probably not in the ways you're thinking. We're having my brother perform a symbolic ceremony but it's not in a crazy cool location or anything! I'm excited to see what ideas other people have though!
