  1. This is the saddest/scariest thing ever! I've flown between Buffalo and NYC/NJ a number of times. I'm so sad for everyone involved...what a tragedy
  2. I couldn't run yesterday because it was gross and raining but I did 5K this morning. So sleepy...TGIF!
  3. Congrats, that is so exciting! I have a 4 month old niece and I love her to pieces, it's so much fun being an aunt!
  4. I heard about this being a hoax too, Sarafish. What a weirdo.
  5. HAHAHA Susan! Great minds think alike!
  6. "what?" and then her cackle of a laugh!
  7. Yeah she never talks about that anymore! I wonder what's up. Howard isn't bugging her about it so maybe it's a touchy subject (although really, is anything ever off-limits?!) We watched the Ralph Roast on HTV last night. He's such an idiot.
  8. Kathy - are you guys doing a one-way flight from Puerto Vallarta to Riviera Maya, and then flying from RM to NYC? I found a pretty great deal on the Tides and I want to consider this but I don't know if it makes sense to leave Cabo to go to another place in Mexico, then come home. Know what I mean? If you did book the flights - did you just book online or is there a way to get cheap flights within Mexico?
  9. I take a daily multi-vitamin for women, and then also an extra one with vitamin C and D in it (to make up for the fact that it's been a really gloomy winter here in Canada this year!)
  10. Crap, I don't think we get Woolite in Canada...? I've never seen it! I'm going to have to investigate.
  11. I'm actually OK with people drinking a lot! Haha. We're paying a lot for our open bar so I want to make sure we get our money's worth I'll take all of your comments into consideration. Our apps are definitely going to be substantial and there are breads included on the cheese tray. I'm surprised how many people are opposed to this idea - I guess it's just me, but when I'm out drinking, I'm usually not hungry because the alcohol fills me up so much...foods to nibble on are usually all I want anyway. But if you think about it, 6 different types of appetizers is actually a lot - if we get 2 per person that's like 12 apps per person, plus the cheese and fruit and dessert. I think that's actually a lot! Maybe I'm just convincing myself, haha. Thanks for your comments everyone.
  12. They're so cute! And they will be comfy which is really important for your wedding day Tell FI he won't have to give you a foot rub after you wear those!
  13. Just because it's a cocktail party doesn't mean there won't be food there. We're having plenty of food but it's more appetizer/buffet style than a sit down dinner. I think you probably just need to think about your guests and what they'd like. If you feel that some of them may be offended, it might not be the right route to go.
  14. I got price quotes from them in the beginning, but I didn't think their costs were that great and I felt like they were pressuring me a little. So I decided not to go there. It is a very beautiful resort though!
  15. It's definitely more expensive to do it at a place other than the resort. Our open bar alone is almost $100 per person for 5 hours! If you want to save money, for sure stick at the AI. But doing a cocktail reception as opposed to the full meal is saving us some money for sure. We're staying at the Riu Palace in Cabo. We're doing our wedding at an off-site venue because we really wanted the privacy and we wanted control over which vendors we could use.
  16. Robin bugs the crap outta me. She really does think she's always right! And the way she laughs at everything she says? Ugh. She's not that funny. I used to really like Robin but the longer I've been listening to Stern the more she gets on my nerves!
  17. OK thanks girls! Andrea I'm glad to know you did it with slightly less food than our plan and that it worked out fine. I'm going to go and try to negotiate prices now... FI and I like guac over salsa too but my parents said we should do salsa. I think we'll probably end up doing guac though.
  18. It's like a soap opera! How are we ever going to keep tabs on Artie's life after the show is over in 2 years?! I can't wait to find out what this is all about, because you know he always spills the truth after a couple of months...
  19. I'm sure it's just another lie. I really feel like Artie has a death wish these days...so sad
  20. I think they will be things like shrimp shooters, some taquitos, etc. They will all have meat in them I believe...we haven't picked them yet. We considered doing the fajita station but I'm just worried that everyone is going to be eating that stuff all week at the Riu so might be sick of it? Plus then would we need the fajita station AND passed appetizers too? This is definitely the most stressful decision so far I think!
  21. Very nice! I like how they are unique and different from what you usually see. Good job!
  22. Hi everyone - we put together a proposal for our appetizers for our cocktail party and I wanted to check to get everyone's opinions on whether or not we are having enough food. Background info: Our wedding is taking place away from the AI that we're staying at all week. Our guests will be at the venue from around 4:30 to 10:30. We're doing a cocktail party instead of a sit down dinner, as it will help give us the vibe/environment we want, and also we figure everyone will be eating so much all week that they don't need a big huge meal during the wedding. Also since the party is only 5 hours long we didn't want to take up 2+ hours sitting down to eat. We're renting lounge furniture and cocktail tables for guests to mingle at/on. At 10:30 or so we'll head back to the AI where there is a buffet set up until well after midnight. Here is the menu we were thinking of proposing, for 65 people: -Fruit platter for 60 people -Cheese platter for 60 people (with cheeses and breads) -Guacamole station with chips (or should we make this chips and salsa instead?) -6 passed appetizers (mixture between hot and cold apps) -S'mores at the bonfire -65 cupcakes We'll make sure that the guests know ahead of time that it's a cocktail reception and that they should have a bigger lunch before heading over. What do you guys think? Is that enough food?
